Chapter 30: Chapter 30- marry you? In that instant, Lilian felt like she had finally found an ally here—because she wasn’t the only one who often drove Morrison to the brink of madness. Sean took the initiative to explain how to tell the two brothers apart. "My brother usually wears glasses, but I don’t. Also, he’s more calm and steady, while I’m a bit more outgoing—" Lilian smiled and nodded. "Got it." After spending some time with Sean, Lilian felt she could almost distinguish between the two brothers now. Their personalities were worlds apart. But then Sean added with a sly grin, "Though you better watch out for my occasional pranks. Sometimes I put on a serious face, wear glasses, and pretend to be my brother. Most people can’t tell the difference." Lilian froze for a moment. Was he really going to mess with her like that? She had just started feeling confident about telling them apart, and now Sean’s words threw her into total confusion. Seeing her little face crumple in frustration, Sean couldn’t help but burst out laughing. "Just kidding! Look at you all stressed out." Lilian pouted, "Hey, I’m your new colleague, you can’t just play tricks on me like that." Despite her annoyance, she secretly thought Sean was genuinely easy to get along with. They laughed their way to the rooftop, but as soon as the elevator doors slid open, a figure stood there. Dressed all in black—a black shirt, black trousers, and a silver-gray tie at his neck—he was almost like a shadow. His expression was as dark as his clothes. In an instant, the smiles on Lilian and Sean’s faces froze solid as the man’s cold gaze swept over them... The smiles on the two’s faces, which had barely left their mouths, froze instantly as the man’s cold gaze swept over them, sizing them up. Sean couldn’t hold it any longer. He quickly wiped the grin off his face, stepped aside, lowered his eyes, and reported in a low voice: "Miss Washington, I’ve brought her here. I have some meeting materials to prepare, so I’ll get back to work first." Then he dashed back to his office in a flash. The boss’s stare was terrifying. Sean felt completely innocent—he hadn’t expected the boss’s little girlfriend to be this adorable, so he’d gotten a little too chatty. Lilian wasn’t as scared of Morrison as Sean was, but even she felt a chill from Morrison’s expression. She forced a polite smile toward him. "Mr. Morrison—" Maybe it was because she was on his turf now, standing in the very place where he usually made ruthless decisions, but Lilian inexplicably felt her own aura weaken. Morrison glanced at her once and said, "Come to my office." Without waiting for a reply, he turned and strode away. "Oh." Lilian took a quick look at his straight, broad back and followed him into the office. Once inside, a heavy pressure pressed down on her chest. The metallic décor gave the whole room a cold, sterile feel that instantly switched her brain into work mode—there was no room for distraction here. Watching him sit behind the desk, his clothes crisp and posture rigid, his face cold and strict, Lilian felt like she was looking at a completely unfamiliar Morrison. "What’s wrong?" Morrison squinted slightly, noticing the flicker of panic in her eyes. Just moments ago, she had been chatting and laughing with Sean, and now here she was, suddenly nervous in front of him. Snapping back to herself, Lilian forced a soft chuckle. "Nothing much. I just... feel like it’s really serious in here." She gestured toward his office, surprised to see Morrison like this during work hours. Morrison snorted, clearly annoyed. "Of course the work environment has to be serious. No one’s allowed to joke around." Lilian immediately remembered how she had been laughing with Sean just a moment ago, and her face flushed red with embarrassment. "Do you have all your documents with you?" Morrison asked her again, and Lilian quickly dug into the paper bag she was holding, pulling out a stack of documents and handing them over. Morrison glanced down and flipped through them. When his eyes landed on one particular photo, he couldn’t help but burst out laughing. Lilian peeked over and immediately flushed red. She slammed her hand down, covering the photo. The picture was from when she still had a baby face—chubby cheeks and all—looking like a completely different person compared to now. And those close-up ID photos? Ruthless. Lilian thought it was downright ugly. She had completely forgotten to hide that photo! But Morrison effortlessly grabbed her hand away and held the photo up, grinning mischievously as he continued to admire it. Lilian was about to lose it. She leaned forward, trying to snatch it back. "Give it back!" Morrison casually lifted his hand and dodged her, teasing, "I didn’t say anything." Lilian pouted in frustration. "Your smile already says it all!" He hadn’t said a word, but that grin clearly meant he was laughing at how ugly her photo was. Fuming, she circled around his desk and lunged at him, determined to wrest it back and never let him see it again. Morrison, sitting relaxed in his chair, casually raised an arm behind him. Lilian missed her grab completely. On top of that, she was still unsteady in her first-ever pair of heels. Her balance faltered, and in her desperate attempt to reclaim the photo, she toppled right into his arms. That was when Morrison really laughed. His large hands tightened around her slender waist, steadying her as he pressed her onto his lap, wrapping her close. A mischievous smile curled on his lips as he teased, "You threw yourself into my arms. What was I supposed to do?" Lilian was utterly exasperated. "Who threw themselves? I just tripped by accident!" She wished she had just fallen flat on the floor instead. "I don’t care. When it’s handed to me on a silver platter, how could I not enjoy it?" Morrison said, before capturing her lips with a possessive kiss. His hands slid under her thin shirt, fingers tracing the curve of her slim waist, wandering upward along the gentle swell of her body... Lilian had tried to resist, but couldn’t. After leaving a few marks on her soft, pale skin with his mouth, Morrison held her tight and whispered close to her ear, "What would you do if I slept with you? Would that mean I have to marry you?" His meaning was clear—he desperately wanted to have his way with her, or he wouldn’t have said something like that. The pressure of his hold was fierce, and Lilian could feel the unmistakable symbol of a man’s desire pressing between his legs. Shocked by his words, she pushed him hard, "No way! Absolutely not!" "Didn’t you say we’re just practicing how to date? How can you think like that?" Lilian was equal parts angry and stunned. "If you think like that, then maybe we shouldn’t even be seeing each other!" Her words cooled Morrison’s passion in an instant. He loosened his grip on her hands, and Lilian scrambled off his lap, retreating far away. She fumbled nervously with the undone buttons of her shirt, cheeks burning as she glared at him.
