Chapter 29: Chapter 29- Twins So this was how their relationship unfolded—one carefree and indifferent, the other anxious and uncertain. When Morrison heard Lilian was going to report to work, for a moment he pushed aside his irritation over her not informing him. "Then go tomorrow," he said curtly. But inside, Morrison knew he had to have a serious talk with her—about how she should truly care for him, not just as some casual acquaintance, but as his girlfriend. She needed to adore him at all times, care for him, cherish him, and see him as her emotional anchor. Every little joy, every mood swing, every worry—she should share it all with him first. Yes, once she arrived at the company tomorrow, he was going to call her into his office and give her this lesson—properly. Hearing she had to start reporting tomorrow, Lilian suddenly grew nervous. "Uh, Mr. Morrison, does your company have any dress code for employees? Is there anything I should pay attention to?" It was her first time stepping into the real world, and although it was just for reporting, she couldn’t help but feel anxious. "No strict rules. Just dress formally," Morrison replied. Then he added, almost casually, "Preferably in darker colors—nothing too flashy. Finance is a serious department, after all." What he didn’t admit was that he purposely twisted the dress code to keep her from dressing too stylish or pretty at work. He didn’t want her to stand out—too many young talents there already, and he planned to deal with any hidden rivals immediately. If she dressed dowdy and boring, surely no man would be interested in her. Of course, Lilian had no idea about his secret little schemes. She just thought he was sincerely helping her. After hanging up, she spent ages picking out an outfit from her closet, finally settling on a simple, low-key combo: black cropped trousers and a crisp white shirt. Simple, understated, and formal—the perfect choice. Satisfied, she went to sleep. The next morning, Lilian woke up bright and early, full of energy. She dressed carefully in the outfit she had picked, applied light makeup, and added a black chain-strap purse to complete the look. After double-checking that her appearance met Morrison’s expectations, she confidently stepped out the door. Driving up to MOS Corp., Lilian parked her car and stepped into the sleek, towering building. In the lobby stood a sharply dressed man, his suit crisp and his smile bright. Zoey was waiting for someone—though who exactly, she wasn’t sure yet. The moment Lilian walked in, the man’s handsome face lit up with a warm smile. Beneath that perfectly polite, professional grin, there was a heart both kind and a little nosy. Just as he was about to step forward and greet her, Lilian surprised him by speaking first—her sweet smile lighting up the room, her voice melodious and pleasant. "Hello." Sean blinked, puzzled, and pointed at himself. "You know me?" Sean was pretty sure he had never seen Lilian before. Like Norton, he had only recognized her by Dave’s family resemblance. Lilian nodded emphatically. "Yes! Didn’t you just give me a ride home a few nights ago?" She had no idea Morrison had twin brothers. She simply assumed Sean was the same guy who had driven her back that night—Norton. Though, truth be told, Sean seemed much more cheerful and talkative today, quite different from the quiet, reserved Norton she remembered. Maybe Norton was just in a better mood? Sean’s mouth literally dropped open like he could fit a whole egg in it. The moment she said that, Sean knew she had mistaken him. The one who’d actually given her a ride home had to be Norton. Sean’s surprise wasn’t just because of the mix-up—it was that he hadn’t even realized Norton had secretly escorted her home before. Apparently, Norton had already met the boss’s little girlfriend in secret. Norton was calm and low-key, nothing like the gossipy Sean. After driving Lilian home that night, Norton hadn’t mentioned a word about it to Sean. Nor had he ever said that the boss’s girlfriend was actually the sister of one of his closest friends. Lilian noticed Sean’s stunned expression and grew curious. "What’s with that face? Did you forget you gave me a ride home?" Sean snapped out of his daze and smiled as he explained, "It’s a misunderstanding. Actually, it was my brother Norton who drove you home. We’re twins. I’m Sean, the younger brother, and I work as Mr. Morrison’s executive assistant." Now it was Lilian’s turn to gape in shock, mouth wide open as she stared at Sean. "Y-you guys—" What was going on here? Twins? No wonder she felt this Sean guy was a little different from the Norton she’d met that night. She took another good look at Sean and couldn’t help but tease him. "What kind of weird joke is this? Having two identical guys working for you—doesn’t Morrison worry about mixing them up?" For someone like Lilian who loved things simple and straightforward, she just couldn’t wrap her head around why Morrison would keep a pair of twins on his team. When he gave orders, there’d be two identical people standing in front of him. Wouldn’t that cause confusion? When things got busy, how could anyone tell the brothers apart? Sean snorted. "He does it on purpose. Think of it like getting the work of four people done by just two." Lilian hadn’t expected Sean to be such a character. After all, the secretary she’d met at her brother’s side was known to be strictly professional and serious. And Norton, the guy who’d driven her home that night, didn’t seem like the joking type either. But Sean? He made her burst out laughing. "You’re absolutely adorable." Her nerves from the first day on the job melted away thanks to this cheerful new colleague, and her mood instantly lifted. Sean wasn’t shy to compliment her right back. "You’re pretty cute yourself. And honestly, you’re quite beautiful." Sean meant every word. Even though he knew Lilian was the boss’s official girlfriend—as Morrison had clearly instructed him to greet her—he’d completely forgotten the moment they clicked so well. Suddenly, Sean’s phone buzzed. Seeing the caller ID, he instantly straightened up, answering respectfully with a brisk tone. "Why aren’t you up yet? Is she not here?" Sean replied clearly. "She’s here. We’re heading up now!" After hanging up, he leaned close and whispered to Lilian. "The big boss is pissed. We better hurry." By "big boss," he meant Morrison. Lilian couldn’t stop laughing as she followed Sean into the elevator. This secretary was seriously hilarious. She wondered what Morrison would think if he heard himself being called "big boss"—probably so mad his nose would turn crooked!
