Chapter 122: Chapter 122- Irresponsible
She was the happiest, most cheerful Lilian—the sunshine of the family. And now? Crying at the slightest thing, whining over every little sadness like a bitter old woman. It was... unbecoming.
Tiffany turned to her, eyes sharp, voice stern.
"Wipe those tears! Who gave you the right to cry? Falling for a playboy like him was your choice. Getting dumped just proves you weren’t capable!"
Daniel, naturally protective of women, immediately stepped in to shield her.
"Tiffany, don’t be so harsh—"
Lilian wiped her tears and gave Daniel a small smile.
"It’s fine, Dad. Mom’s right... I really don’t have the face to cry."
Tiffany softened slightly and gave instructions.
"Go wash your face, change your clothes, then come out and we’ll discuss your trip abroad."
"Mm," Lilian replied, nodding, and turned to leave.
Later, after Laurent had prepared breakfast, Lilian ate a little, and then the whole family sat down together to discuss her going abroad.
MOS Corp.
Morrison arrived at the office late, his face battered and his whole aura slumped and exhausted.
Sean was startled.
"Boss... what happened?"
Morrison didn’t answer and walked straight into his office.
Norton followed to report work, only to find him completely absent-minded. Noticing the injuries on his cheeks and lips, he hesitated before offering some well-meaning advice.
"Boss, you’ve got two meetings and a dinner tonight. In your current condition—"
"Should I cancel them?" Morrison cut in.
Going out like this would ruin his image.
"Mm," Morrison replied flatly, then threw himself back into his chair, closing his eyes and leaning against it.
After a pause, Norton cautiously continued.
"Boss... I was thinking of taking Friday off..."
Morrison didn’t react. Norton explained further.
"I’m planning to bring Monna home to meet my parents this Friday—"
At that, Morrison suddenly opened his eyes, looking at him sharply, a mix of surprise and intensity in his gaze. Norton, thinking Morrison was annoyed that he even had to request leave to bring Monna home, kept explaining.
"I originally thought the weekend would be fine, but she insisted... she checked the calendar and said this Friday is a lucky day to meet my parents. And, well, as you know, ignoring a woman’s advice rarely ends well, so I had no choice but to follow—"
Norton sounded reluctant, but if Morrison looked closely, he’d see the faint amusement hidden at the corners of his eyes—a subtle
But what Norton said was true—Yuki was a businesswoman, someone who believed in things like fortune-telling. The moment she heard she’d be going home to meet his parents, she immediately had someone check the calendar. And it came out that Friday was the lucky day.
Norton was exasperated. He was busy every single day, and now he had to request leave just to meet his parents. Yet in the end, he chose to respect Yuki’s choice. After all, a lifetime only comes around once—why not indulge her this time?
Whether it was truly a "lucky day" didn’t matter. What mattered was that she was happy.
Morrison had no idea how he felt hearing Norton say he was taking Monna home to meet his parents. Thinking back to his own breakup yesterday, he felt a suffocating weight in his chest.
Norton had only been with Monna for a few days, yet they were already discussing meeting the parents and marriage. Meanwhile, he had been entangled with Lilian on and off for a year, and he never had the courage to face it—always retreating at the last moment...
The contrast was sharp.
Watching Norton, Morrison asked quietly,
"Weren’t you breaking up just a few days ago?"
A few days ago, he had even heard from Sean that Norton and Monna had split. And now they were planning to meet the parents? Morrison couldn’t help but wonder if they were acting too hastily.
Especially Monna—she had always liked him. And now, after only a few days together, she was ready to marry Norton?
For someone like Morrison, who had always acted freely in love, he couldn’t comprehend this kind of fast-moving commitment.
But for people like Norton and Monna, when they meet the right person, they don’t want to miss the chance. They respect love, they respect marriage, and they take it seriously.
Unlike him—he was used to switching from one person to another, used to keeping his heart in a perpetual state of floating, addicted to novelty.
In short... he was selfish. Irresponsible.
As for Morrison asking about their supposed breakup a few days ago, Norton let out a light chuckle.
"That was just a misunderstanding. Once it was cleared up, everything was fine."
Previously, after Monna had insisted that he resign from Morrison’s team, the two had argued and "broken up." Norton had been annoyed and deliberately avoided contacting her.
During that time, Monna had called him a few times, but he hung up every time. Any other attempts she made to reach him were also rejected.
Then, one evening after work, he returned home only to find Monna waiting right outside his door. Seeing him, she smiled brightly and greeted him warmly.
"Off work already? Look, I bought so many ingredients! Tonight we can have your favorite hotpot!"
She pointed to the bags piled at his apartment door—fresh groceries clearly just bought from the supermarket.
Norton snorted coldly. They had already broken up—what was she trying to do, coming here to win him over?
He ignored her and went to unlock the door.
Just as he stepped inside, a soft arm wrapped around his waist.
"I need to explain."
Her voice, tinged with a hint of grievance, came from behind him.
Norton reached back to push Monna’s hand away.
"What’s there to explain? I’m not leaving MOS Corp. anyway!"
His grip was far stronger than hers, and her hand was easily removed. Free, he was about to walk inside—but her arms wrapped around him again.
This time, she clung even tighter, and Norton’s annoyance grew.
"Let go!"
Monna didn’t release him. Instead, she lifted his shirt with delicate hands, boldly tracing down his abs... and further.
Norton tensed all over. Then he heard her soft voice whispering,
"When I told you to leave Morrison... I just wanted to test you."
Norton froze. He had never really wanted to break up, and hearing her explanation left him stunned, instinctively wanting to hear more.
