"Fuck! Those bastard instructors really scared me; I actually thought I was going to get expelled! When Zhou Yuwen and I went to the director’s office, the director even chatted with us and asked if we were boyfriend and girlfriend."
At this point, Zheng Yanyan wanted to laugh. Fresh from her shower with her hair damp and loose, she sat draped in a baggy white T-shirt that revealed her long legs.
Taking a hot shower in the blistering summer, then opening the dorm window to let the breeze in was truly comfortable. She had bought a bottled Coke and was sitting cross-legged in her chair, casually sharing the story with her roommates.
Stupid instructors are only good at scaring people.
"The main thing is, I was seriously scared, but fortunately, Zhou Yuwen was there." Zheng Yanyan’s lips would always curl up involuntarily when she mentioned Zhou Yuwen.
"Speaking of which, we should really thank Zhou Yuwen." Shen Yu agreed wholeheartedly.
Su Qing was quite proud, saying he was always like that, acting all nonchalant usually, but feeling reliable when it really mattered.
"Now I see why you two like Zhou Yuwen so much." Zheng Yanyan shifted her position, hugged her knees, and continued.
At that sentence, Su Qing and Shen Yu glanced at each other, then simultaneously turned their heads away and walked off.
Seeing this, Zheng Yanyan couldn’t help but cover her mouth and laugh.
She suddenly found it very amusing; what they didn’t know was that she had already confessed to Zhou Yuwen.
Zheng Yanyan was quite confident in her own charm.
As the saying goes, for a woman to chase a man is like a veil in between.
If she set her sights on a man, there wasn’t one she couldn’t win over.
Neither Shen Yu nor Su Qing had any clue how to chase after guys.
To chase a guy, you need to be proactive, you need to be bold!
They didn’t even know their own strengths.
Zheng Yanyan hummed to herself, already picturing the expression on their faces when she and Zhou Yuwen would appear before them, holding hands.
Just the thought made her laugh, she already missed Zhou Yuwen a bit.
Zheng Yanyan wanted to convey this longing directly to Zhou Yuwen.
Then she picked up her cellphone.
There would definitely be over a dozen messages waiting.
Of course, none were from Zhou Yuwen.
"Yanyan, how did it go?"
"Are you okay?"
"Haven’t you come back to the dorm yet?"
"Brother Hao’s already back at the dorm, Yanyan."
"Actually, I had my speech all ready just now, but Brother Hao beat me to it."
"Yeah, it should be Brother Hao anyway since he bought the hamburgers, although I feel a bit sorry for him, we can make it up to him later."
"Yanyan, haven’t you gone back to the dorm yet?"
"Honestly, Yanyan, you should’ve just blamed Brother Hao earlier, I believe he wouldn’t mind. These things, whether one is punished or two, it’s always better for one person than for two, and we’re guys, we can handle it."
Chang Hao had sent these messages over various intervals.
"Yeah."
Lu Lin was always very cold when chatting with Li Qiang, but Li Qiang didn’t care in the slightest, replying meant there was a chance.
By this time, Shen Yu and the other two had each gone to their beds, the issue had been resolved smoothly, and Lu Lin could breathe a sigh of relief; even though the matter didn’t have much to do with her, it was still distressing to have a roommate facing punishment.
Lu Lin liked to be alone on the balcony, occasionally smoking a cigarette when feeling down—she knew smoking wasn’t good, but sometimes the urge was just too strong.
During military training, she had smoked very little, and now, with Zheng Yanyan’s narrow escape, she felt it was a cause for celebration: time for a cigarette.
So on the balcony, Lu Lin lit up another cigarette.
With the smoke curling up into the air, Lu Lin took a long breath and leaned on the railing, gazing at the night view of the school, deep in thought.
From this incident, it was clear that Zhou Yuwen indeed had a greater sense of responsibility than the average guy; in fact, Lu Lin had known long ago that Zhou Yuwen hadn’t spread the news about borrowing money because he was a blabbermouth, but rather to subtly encourage her to back off.
Afterwards, Lu Lin had asked Chang Hao if he knew about the borrowing money matter.
Clearly, Chang Hao had no clue.
So, that meant Zhou had only told Li Qiang.
Despite this, there were moments when Lu Lin was somewhat dissatisfied with Zhou Yuwen’s approach.
But in this unfamiliar city, Lu Lin only knew Zhou Yuwen as a rich person.
Li Qiang sent countless messages to Lu Lin without restraint.
Lu Lin only replied with a simple "Hmm" after twenty minutes.
Afterwards, Li Qiang sent many messages to Lu Lin again.
But Lu Lin continued to not respond.
This feeling was very frustrating.
Sometimes, clarifying things between a man and a woman could prevent further loss. The fear was one side becoming obsessed, and by now, nearly twenty days had passed since the start of school.
During these twenty days, Li Qiang continually tried to chat with Lu Lin.
For the most part, Lu Lin chose to ignore him.
But Li Qiang left messages for Lu Lin every day.
"Morning (grin)"
"Have you eaten?"
"Hey, let me tell you, today Chang Hao and Zhou nearly had a fight, haha."
"What are you up to?"
"Lu Lin, my scholarship application has been approved, I’ve got three thousand yuan! If you ever need money, you can borrow from me! (grin)"
Originally, Lu Lin wouldn’t bother with Li Qiang, but he kept on sending messages, and seeing as Lu Lin was indeed short on cash, she hesitated upon reading his message and eventually chose to reply: "Wouldn’t that be too much trouble for you?"
"No trouble at all!"
Seeing Lu Lin reply, naturally, Li Qiang responded immediately.
Initially, Li Qiang wanted to morally bind Lu Lin with money to make her his girlfriend, but after that incident, Lu Lin had been ignoring Li Qiang, which left him annoyed for quite some time.
Now that Lu Lin had finally taken notice of Li Qiang, he dared not speak carelessly anymore.
"I’m not like Chang Hao and the rest, I don’t spend much usually. Once the scholarship money comes in, I’ll keep a thousand for myself to spend on food, and the remaining two thousand I’ll lend to you first (grin)"
