During the month of military training, the food was monotonous.
In the scorching summer, what the students frying under the sun probably wanted most was a bottle of ice-cold Coke.
Some students even began to hallucinate, muttering during training, imagine, in this kind of weather, after the training, going back to the dorm, then taking a cold shower, and having a nice sip of icy Coke.
Gosh, it’s a kind of life one dares not even dream of.
Unfortunately, there was nothing.
Although this class of students didn’t go to a training camp fifty miles away, the school had turned the entire dormitory and playground into a camp area, with completely closed management. Aside from a cafeteria under unified management, there was nothing else for sale.
Of course, capable students could still manage to get their hands on some other things, but if they were caught, they would be directly criticized in a notice, and their military training grades would be deemed unsatisfactory.
So apart from a few bold students, most students could only bitterly wait for the military training to end.
In the later stages of military training, Su Qing once mentioned this in a chat with Zhou Yuwen, saying that she was missing the clay pot chicken from back home.
"Zhou Yuwen, when we go back home for the National Day holiday, can we have clay pot chicken?" Su Qing said online.
Chatting with Su Qing, one would indeed recall the many details of the past.
Zhou Yuwen remembered that there was a Su Bei restaurant at the school gate, where the clay pot chicken was very delicious. Every time, Su Qing would eat until her eyes teared up from the spice, sticking out her little tongue to fan the air.
Zhou Yuwen said, if you can’t eat it, then don’t.
"But I like eating it!"
So every time he went out to eat with Su Qing, Zhou Yuwen would always remind the chef to use less chili. Even so, the dish served was still incredibly spicy.
Helpless, Zhou Yuwen always had a cup of plain water ready, and he would have to run a piece of chicken through the water three or five times before putting it into Su Qing’s bowl.
Years later, when Su Qing thought of this again, she felt regret. She realized that after starting to work, she indeed forgot a lot, and only when life began anew did she discover how gentle and considerate Zhou Yuwen had been to her back then.
It’s just a pity that she lost such a gentle boyfriend.
That evening, while chatting with Zhou Yuwen, Su Qing’s eyes turned red.
She said, "Zhou Yuwen,"Nôv(el)B\\jnn
"Hmm?"
"I’m sorry."
"What?"
"It’s nothing."
Zheng Yanyan’s personality was indeed lively, but Zhou Yuwen couldn’t care less. If she didn’t want to speak to him, so be it.
At that moment, Zhou Yuwen’s phone rang.
"Yeah, got it."
After taking the call, Zhou Yuwen left the medical room.
"Hey, where are you going?" Zheng Yanyan asked curiously, noticing how Zhou Yuwen seemed to always leave abruptly.
"I thought you weren’t talking to me?" Zhou Yuwen asked.
"..." Zheng Yanyan was at a loss for words.
These past few days, Chang Hao and the others would talk about delicacies from various places every night, like Beijing’s roast duck, Chaozhou’s beef meatballs, Jinling’s duck blood and vermicelli soup; all of this made Zhou Yuwen crave those foods.
Damn, after being reborn for a month and eating a month’s worth of cafeteria food, my mouth has almost forgotten other tastes.
Shouldn’t I treat myself to better food?
Zhou Yuwen ordered himself a KFC family bucket.
It took twenty minutes to get his take-out.
He doubled back to the medical office.
By then, Zheng Yanyan was lying on the bed playing with her phone, she glanced at Zhou Yuwen as he returned; she initially wanted to ask where he had been, but upon recalling Zhou Yuwen’s rogue behavior, she snorted, "Pfft, I don’t need to bother with him!"
But with that one glance.
Huh?
"KFC! Zhou Yuwen, how come you have KFC?" Zheng Yanyan excitedly sat up, her expression radiant as if she had seen her own father!
This is KFC!
After nearly a month of cafeteria food, to see KFC here, complete with an ice-cold Coke.
"Why the excitement? What’s it to you?" Zhou Yuwen hadn’t planned to eat there, but had instead come to grab his clothes, thinking why not wrap the KFC take-out in military clothes and sneak back to the dorm to secretly enjoy it?
Having packed up the take-out, Zhou Yuwen made as if to leave.
Zheng Yanyan realized that Zhou Yuwen was actually about to walk away? Stunned, she stood up without a second thought and blocked Zhou Yuwen’s way: "Where are you going?"
"Is it any of your business?"
"It’s none of my business, Zhou Yuwen, but you leave the KFC; wherever you go, I won’t care," Zheng Yanyan’s eyes fixed hungrily on the KFC.
"Heh! You wish!"
