Chapter 22: Chapter Seventeen How to Handle Being Too Popular
Whenever they joked about Li Qiang, Li Qiang always tried to steer the conversation toward Lu Yuhang, and since Chang Hao could joke with anyone, he went along with Li Qiang's lead and said, "Really now, Yuhang, I didn't expect you to have such a hobby?"
"Huh?" Lu Yuhang didn't even know what they were talking about.
And Lu Yuhang's reaction made Li Qiang and Chang Hao laugh even harder.
Zhou Yuwen, not liking them bullying the sincere guy, spoke up, "Stop bullying Yuhang; that's clearly the scent of viburnum."
"Viburnum? What's that?"
So Zhou Yuwen explained what viburnum was, something they would learn in future dendrology classes; it was just the scent that was similar.
"Yuhang is young, don't lead him astray," said Zhou Yuwen.
Li Qiang said, laughing, "We're just joking with Yuhang."
Zhou Yuwen ignored him, and in a short while, they had already reached the bathroom.
Around nine o'clock, the bathroom was still busy with people at the entrance. There, they ran into two freshmen they had met during the day, including both girls and boys.
Upon seeing Zhou Yuwen, they greeted him boldly, saying hello to the senior.
Zhou Yuwen also politely responded with a hello.
This finally made Chang Hao and Li Qiang unable to contain their curiosity, wondering what was going on.
"Old Zhou, you don't really have a twin brother, do you?" asked Chang Hao as he stripped off his clothes.
Zhou Yuwen didn't answer.
Over there, Li Qiang was saying that if it was true, then Old Zhou wouldn't have to worry about finding a girlfriend.
"I saw some of the girls who greeted Old Zhou just now; they were all pretty," Li Qiang said.
"Old Zhou doesn't have to worry about finding a girlfriend anyway, do you think he's like you?"
"Hey, Brother Hao, what do you mean by that?"
Chang Hao said, "Although I hate to admit it, Old Zhou is better-looking than any of us, that's a fact, right?"
Li Qiang thought about it and found some truth in it.
As the two chatted, Zhou Yuwen and Lu Yuhang got ready and entered the bathroom first, seeing how quickly they were done, Chang Hao and the others were in a hurry, asking Zhou Yuwen to wait for them.
Zhou Yuwen refused.
"I'm telling you, Yuhang and I will not wait for you guys once we finish showering."
"Come on, we're good brothers!"
"You and Li Qiang are good brothers!"
"Heh heh, Brother Hao, don't worry, we'll go together in a while."
The four guys found four adjacent showers separated by partitions, each washing up on their own. Chang Hao kept talking to Zhou Yuwen, asking if he had any girls he was interested in.
Chang Hao thought some of the girls who had called Zhou Yuwen 'senior' just now, several of whom were quite pretty, were worth considering for Zhou Yuwen.
Zhou Yuwen asked, "I didn't realize, are you a playboy now?"
"That's too far, this money-grubbing school only knows how to take students' money," Li Qiang grumbled.
Once back in the dorm, Chang Hao expertly pulled out a cigarette pack and lit up a Xuanhe Clan.
Li Qiang asked for one too.
Chang Hao was not stingy.
Each with a cigarette, they quickly lit up.
"Old Zhou, want a smoke?"
"You guys go ahead." Zhou Yuwen picked up his phone, noticing the unread messages had piled up to 99, and since it was a new phone, he hadn't set it to silent, so WeChat was still chiming away.
Can't help it, today's orientation added nearly a hundred freshmen on WeChat, then there was the call in his high school group, and after that, he introduced himself in his new class group—no wonder there were so many students wanting to get a card.
Honestly, Zhou Yuwen couldn't keep up with all the replies, ignoring those less important messages.
Zhou Yuwen found many strangers had added him.
He clicked on the first message:
Class rep! I'm Liu Yue, I'll be following you from now on (grin)!
The second one:
Li Jing.
The third:
Ma Tian.
The fourth friend request was from someone whose profile picture was an attractive Western girl, and the message read Gu Yaoyao.
Besides these girls, out of a total of 24 girls in the class, more than half had sent friend requests to Zhou Yuwen.
After accepting them all, Zhou Yuwen started to filter through some useful messages.
At that moment, his high school classmate Li Shiqi sent him an image.
Zhou Yuwen opened it only to find a list of thirty people.
Zhou Yuwen hadn't asked what it meant,
when Li Shiqi sent another message: These are all students who want to get a card.
"That many?" Zhou Yuwen was genuinely surprised.
"Is it true that for every card they get, I'll earn a commission of 20 yuan (playful)?" Li Shiqi was evidently quite pleased with Zhou Yuwen's astonishment, taking it as a form of recognition.
If thirty people got cards, that meant if the commission was 20 yuan per person, Li Shiqi could make a total commission of six hundred yuan.
Zhou Yuwen had always thought of Li Shiqi as a very quiet girl, and never expected her to have such powerful sales skills—worthy of someone aiming to be a diplomat.
Zhou Yuwen gave Li Shiqi a thumbs-up, saying, "If you really do get thirty people to sign up, I'll throw in an extra 200 as a reward."
"Really? (astonished)"
"Of course (sunglasses)."
