If one day you were reborn,
would you still marry her?
——Prologue
Zhou Yuwen's throat felt dry.
The clacking sounds of the train were really bothersome, and after several unsuccessful attempts to find a comfortable position, he still couldn't quite fall asleep.
Yet, the ludicrous scene from last night kept Zhou Yuwen from wanting to open his eyes at all.
With his head tilted, he rested it on his petite girlfriend's shoulder.
Continuing to remain in this half-asleep, half-awake state.
So to say, one should never marry a college classmate.
Otherwise, after a divorce, you could end up seeing each other at a classmate's wedding.
Zhou Yuwen and Su Qing had been divorced for two years.
Everything should have been fine.
But this time, at a college classmate's wedding,
Zhou Yuwen's little girlfriend insisted on being brought along by Zhou Yuwen.
Zhou Yuwen thought to himself, bringing her along is fine.
It's no big deal.
It's just that Zhou Yuwen never imagined Su Qing would show up.
And even less so that Su Qing, who was twenty-nine, would still be so immature.
The moment she saw Zhou Yuwen bring a girl who was younger and more beautiful than herself,
Su Qing's eyes turned red.
During the feast, she made sarcastic comments.
To the other classmates, she said, "Look at all of you, settled with your families and careers, unlike someone who's almost thirty and still so childish, constantly fooling around with little girls in their twenties!"
Her words made everyone nearby uncomfortable.
It was embarrassing for Zhou Yuwen as well.
But Zhou Yuwen couldn't be bothered to argue, not even caring to give her a response.
Su Qing looked at her husband, feeling weary.
It had been two years since they graduated from college.
Everyone else was getting promotions and raises.
Yet Zhou Yuwen was still just scraping by, acting like a child.
Su Qing was a career-oriented woman.
Not to mention Zhou Yuwen's foolishness, his mother was constantly pressuring them for grandchildren.
Su Qing was truly tired.
Finally, Su Qing voiced the word "divorce".
The house went to Zhou Yuwen.
The savings went to Su Qing.
It was somewhat unfair to Su Qing, because during their two years of marriage, Zhou Yuwen had always just been scraping by, with hardly any savings at home.
However, Su Qing didn't care about those things.
In two years, Zhou Yuwen's salary had barely reached around five thousand.
Su Qing's year-end bonus plus dividends alone were more than three hundred thousand a year.
After the divorce, she was even more valued by the company, sent abroad for six months of training, and upon returning she became a supervisor—it was smooth sailing, without an idiotic husband and that mother-in-law always pressing for children.
As for Zhou Yuwen, he was still a fool after the divorce.
But now he was single.
When the company had business trips, of course, they'd assign them to someone like Zhou Yuwen, who had no family to hold him back.
After a few such trips, he got chummy with the bosses.
And miraculously he got a promotion!
Even funnier,
back when they were married, Zhou Yuwen would daily grumble to Su Qing about how terrible certain authors were, how their writing was crap, yet they could still make the bestseller list, really questioning the level of novelists nowadays.
At that time, Su Qing always felt that Zhou Yuwen was the sort of man who was good for nothing but complaints, saying things like how he would write differently, yet he never penned a single word.
"If you're so capable, you write too!"
"You talk about people earning tens of thousands a month, if you can write, then show me earning tens of thousands!"
