"To be honest, Zhou Yuwen, have you been reincarnated or something?"
"What do you mean by reincarnated? I don’t understand what you’re saying."
While Zhou Yuwen was picking up some food, Su Qing had been persistently questioning him. Seizing a moment when they were alone, Su Qing finally voiced the question that had puzzled her for a long time, but obviously, Zhou Yuwen was not going to admit it.
Even when Zhou Yuwen was about to leave, Su Qing grabbed hold of him, looking at him with determination, "Then what if I say that I’ve been reincarnated, would you believe me?"
Zhou Yuwen looked at her with surprise, "Really? No way?"
Su Qing nodded earnestly.
"Then, do you know the winning lottery numbers for tomorrow?"
Su Qing was speechless, "How could I possibly know that!"
Su Qing didn’t want to bicker with Zhou Yuwen; she was just trying to seriously tell him that she really had been reincarnated, and in her world, Zhou Yuwen was her husband, and they had been married for many years!
Even, they even had children!
"???" Zhou Yuwen was truly baffled, wondering whether they weren’t reincarnated from the same period. But that couldn’t be right either; after all, he had divorced Su Qing, so how could there possibly be children afterwards? He noticed Su Qing avoiding his gaze.
Zhou Yuwen thought for sure that he was talking nonsense.
"Zhou Yuwen, this is my biggest secret, and now that I’ve told you, don’t you have something you want to say to me?" Su Qing was holding Zhou Yuwen’s hand, asking seriously.
Zhou Yuwen nodded, "Yes!"
"What?" Su Qing was somewhat hopeful.
But she saw Zhou Yuwen glance around, then whisper to Su Qing, "Don’t ever say these things to anyone else, or they will think you are crazy and lock you up."
After saying that, Zhou Yuwen walked away, leaving Su Qing stunned for a moment before she stamped her foot in anger. She chased after Zhou Yuwen, asserting, "What I told you is true!"
Su Qing still didn’t want to give up on Zhou Yuwen, whether it was Zhou Yuwen from this world or the previous one. She was a bit stubborn, always believing Zhou Yuwen was hers.
When the two returned to their seats.
Zhou Yuwen was surprised to find Lu Lin sitting there cross-legged, expertly smoking, which made him pause for a moment.
Not just Zhou Yuwen, but even Chang Hao, who had just come back, was momentarily taken aback, opening his mouth to say, "This, how come, Sister Lu can smoke too?"
"You can’t possibly say you don’t drink when you smoke like that."
Lu Lin offered a mild smile and insisted she really couldn’t drink much.
"But I can join you for a little," she added.
Lu Lin’s slender fingers held the cigarette while the other three supported a glass, which she clinked gently with Chang Hao’s.
"Come on, Sister Lin, let’s have a drink, shall we?" Li Qiang said, grinning broadly.
"Mm," Lu Lin drank, her lips coated with lipstick now glistening, adding to her seductive allure.
Zhou Yuwen perceived that Lu Lin’s claim of not drinking much was all relative; she was clearly more than capable of handling these youngsters. Find your next read at empire
After drinking with Chang Hao and Li Qiang, Lu Lin turned to Zhou Yuwen and asked if he wanted a drink.
Zhou Yuwen shook his head, indicating he didn’t drink.
Lu Lin nodded, but didn’t set down the glass she had just picked up; instead, she took a small sip.
As the night approached half-past nine, Chang Hao settled the bill and then announced, "Brothers and sisters! Let’s move on to the next event."
It had been agreed beforehand: dinner first, then karaoke. However, no one had settled who would pay for the karaoke. Li Qiang questioned, "Brother Hao, are you covering karaoke as well?"
Chang Hao frowned slightly, "Don’t worry about the money; just come along!"
Having downed two bottles of beer, Chang Hao felt bold enough to go belt out a few songs.
Originally, Shen Yu had no intention of going, but when the bill was paid and she learned that Chang Hao had covered all the girls, she felt somewhat obliged.
As they were leaving the restaurant, Shen Yu pulled Zheng Yanyan aside and suggested, since Chang Hao had treated them to dinner, their dormitory should cover the karaoke expenses.
Yanyan was keen on singing but curious at the proposal: "Why should we? Didn’t Chang Hao say he was treating us?"
Shen Yu explained that the meal probably cost around eight hundred yuan, and from what she had overheard, it seemed Chang Hao had footed the bill.
"We can’t expect them to pay for everything - we should at least offer something, right?"
Zheng Yanyan though saw no need, arguing that their very presence, a group of beautiful girls, was a big enough honor for the guys – why should they spend any money?
On this point, Shen Yu remained firm, stating if the others were unwilling, she would cover the cost of karaoke herself.
