Then he remembered: his mount, which could no longer even be called a mere magical beast, had inherited his spells. These days, even mounts could cast magic. What was a mage even needed for anymore? Li De chuckled to himself, thoroughly satisfied. Castro had not only perfectly inherited the fused bloodline of the Bronze Cyclops and the Vampire Progenitor, but the system had even activated the potential of this new bloodline. Li De, for the first time in ages, relished the thrill of flying on a mount. Though Whispering Bats had been decent mounts, they couldn’t compare to Castro. It was like comparing a ten-million-dollar passenger jet to a one-billion-dollar one, completely different in every way. “Let’s go, on to Giant Valley!” Following Li De’s command, Castro became even more excited. His speed surged sharply, shooting toward Giant Valley like a bullet. Li De estimated that Castro’s top flying speed might exceed 700 kilometers per hour, easily rivaling Earth’s commercial jets. The only issue? He was just too conspicuous, too flashy. Castro’s domineering form might even outshine that of a dragon. No matter where they flew, they’d be spotted instantly. Li De was now seriously considering making a few more to gather a full squad of nine. Giant Valley. Kosso, standing seven blades tall, carried a massive iron shovel as he walked out of a mineshaft. His enormous feet pounded the ground so heavily that the tunnel shook, leaving observers worried the freshly-dug shaft might collapse again. But the Bronze Cyclops paid it no mind. Tunnel collapses were commonplace to him by now. His large basket was already filled to the brim with ore, his harvest for the day. This powerful Bronze Cyclops was quite satisfied with his current life. Because of his high work efficiency, he only needed to work seven or eight sun-hours a day to complete a full workload. After that, he could clock out. Yes, clock out, a term invented by his great master, Kachar, and one he loved using. Once off the clock, five Vampires would help him ride a Whispering Bat back to Dawn City, where he’d head straight to the Logistics Team for a hearty meal, one that filled him up completely. If he came home in a bad mood, he could scold his six cubs or spend time with his several mates. But his favorite post-dinner activity was going to Dawn Square to study Continental Common Script or listen to ideological education lectures at City Hall. There was a strange magic to human culture that deeply attracted him, especially the ideological classes, which were said to be personally taught by the great Master Kachar. That made him even more excited to attend. In those classes, he learned who he was fighting for, and that every citizen should contribute to Dawn City. He felt honored by that. He had already used that money to purchase a vast piece of land on the western edge of the city and built his very own estate. He even brought all his kin to live there. Now, in Dawn City, Kosso had a home. He had made friends among humans and Saintlight Vampires alike. No one despised or feared him just because he was a Cyclops. These little human folk were his real friends. Thinking about it, a foolish grin spread across Kosso’s massive face. This life felt like a dream. He never imagined he could one day live such a good life, one where he was never hungry. And he was full of gratitude for it all. Because all of it had been granted by his great master, Kachar. He felt deeply grateful for the decision he had made to surrender that day. Whoooosh. Just as Kosso stepped out of the mine, ready to drop off his basket of ore and summon the Vampires to take him back to Dawn City, a giant shadow appeared in the sky, descending rapidly. A bat? A trace of thought flickered in Kosso’s giant eye. But the aura he sensed was completely different from a bat. Bats were dark creatures, this massive beast above had a faintly holy presence. “An unknown magical beast?” “Alert!!” Kosso turned his head and roared toward the camp several hundred blades away. The moment his voice echoed out, the massive beast in the sky with a wingspan of sixteen blades, suddenly dove toward him in a high-speed attack. An enemy! Kosso sensed the hostility in the beast’s aura. His giant eye flew open, and he roared into the sky with his enormous maw. “ROAR~” The furious cry was more violent than thunder. He dropped his basket of ore. BOOM BOOM BOOM! The entire ground trembled. The enormous iron shovel in his hand became a weapon in the hands of the Bronze Cyclops. “No one can damage Master Kachar’s property!!” Kosso bellowed at the mysterious giant beast. This was the land of Master Kachar. He had to protect it. No one—no matter who—would make him back down. A Cyclops fights for Dawn City, never backing down!
