"Members of the Dark Pact, meet me tomorrow night at 9 o'clock at the Druck Tavern. Hahaha. I hope you'll bring me some surprises. Without Viscount Berna around, things are so dreadfully boring. I loathe the unpunctual. If I don’t see you there, then after tomorrow, the Dark Pact will officially become a part of Demon Heart. And you feeble little rebels, I'll rip out your hearts." As the last word fell, the still-beating heart ceased moving, and its fresh crimson blood darkened to pitch black in an instant. Abyssal magic, vile and terrifying. Silence fell over the room like a shroud. A stifling tension brewed in the air. Emi and Grote both had fury burning in their eyes. This was a land forgotten by the world, a wicked domain, but it was no barren desert. Every inch of its soil reeked of Gold Pucks. Violence, murder, and crime often yielded obscene profits. Because here, the tedious laws of Green City held no sway. One could engage in any industry they desired. Human trafficking, weapon smuggling, slave trading, hiring assassins, offering sacrifices to evil gods, anything the imagination could conjure, could be found here. Green City, the largest city in the South, attracted legions of adventurers and with them, legions of evil. Evil gathered in the Western District. Despite the annual death toll, the Western District’s population continued to grow, never declining. Druck Tavern, located in the center of the district, was one of the most bustling establishments, and directly under Demon Heart’s control. The Western District housed an uncountable number of underground forces, no one truly knew how many. Demon Heart, Dark Pact, and Sinking Mist were merely the three most powerful among them. Even at their peaks, these three couldn't control even half of the Western District. The waters here were simply too deep. No one knew whether the fruit vendor at the corner of Cross Street was human or an Abyssal Demon in disguise. No one knew if the beggar on the street would sprout wings and hunt passersby by nightfall. Even the Transcendent being of Green City couldn’t cleanse this place of its evil. --- Second floor, Druck Tavern. Wales the Mind Eater sat at a round table covered with a white tablecloth, elegantly dressed in luxurious black noble attire with a cream-colored napkin at his neck, dining with polished knife and fork. The decor of the room echoed Central European nobility, yet in the shadows of the corners, four cloaked figures stood motionless. Their auras were dark, oppressive, and cold. From beneath their hoods, icy stares gleamed like poisonous serpents, chilling the spine. “Master, your meal.” A pale-faced maid wheeled in a serving cart. She placed the dish before him and gracefully lifted the domed silver lid after adjusting it into position. Wales nodded in satisfaction and waved her off, beginning to cut his food with gentlemanly grace. The contrast between his noble posture and the underlying horror of the setting would make any sane person’s legs tremble. “Have the Dark Pact people arrived yet?” Four maids in simple uniforms immediately stepped forward to clear the table. Under the soft reddish glow of magical lamps, a bald, burly man at the door answered and stepped inside. “Lord Wales, the Dark Pact representatives have not yet arrived.” Wales lifted his head slightly. In his crimson eyes flickered a sadistic gleam. “Viscount Berna dared to provoke a Transcendent... He must have been blinded by the Goddess of Misfortune. The standoff between the Dark Pact and Demon Heart has lasted decades. It’s time to end it. Temporarily halting the leak of the Dark Pact’s location to Green City’s military was the right move. A crippled Dark Pact better suits our needs. After dealing with Grote and Emi tonight, I’ll devour the rest.” “Hahaha. What a delightful evening. Praise the Abyss.” Wales’s twisted delight was stark under the reddish light, making him appear utterly bizarre. This being with half-demon blood could no longer be called human. He gestured to the armored guard. “Let them in.” At his command, the four white-uniformed maids swiftly cleared the room, tidied the table, and exited backward. Only the bald man in black formalwear and the four cloaked figures remained inside. Wales said nothing more, his eyes gleaming with anticipation. A moment later. Thud! The door opened. The room instantly tensed. The bald man’s eyes narrowed with alertness and malice. The cloaked figures shifted, focusing their gazes on the entrance.
