"I’ll have the driver take you out," Chang Mei was still a bit uneasy, she put down her bowl and said. "No need, I’ll drive myself," Hang Yishao also relaxed his brows upon hearing her buoyant voice and asked, "Does Xiao Chi have someone she’s fond of now? She’s been dressing up quite a bit lately," Su Qingzhang’s tone was filled with paternal care as he spoke of Chang Chi. Su Ziceng felt a chill in her heart, "Chang Chi’s love interest... hasn’t it always been Hang Yishao?" A sense of foreboding grew in her heart as she thought about Chang Chi’s recent odd behavior. Su Ziceng looked around, picked an SUV, and drove out. It had been a while since she went to the Sixth District after the new year began. Snowflakes flew up and slapped her face and clothes. Four black and white tires whizzed past her, "Big deal having a car," Su Ziceng, with snow all over her face, hastily dodged to the side. Her breath was still warm, and before she could close her mouth, she caught a glimpse of a yellow car turning the corner. A lemon-colored Ferrari with two familiar silhouettes inside. The coin that was supposed to help with directions was buried by the snow, and Su Ziceng didn’t go left but headed down the street where the Ferrari had turned. "It must have been a mistake," the road to the right was lower than the main street, and the snow was thicker there. It soon passed over Su Ziceng’s ankles, and despite her high boots, bits of snow kept slipping inside her shoes. The black Ferrari was parked in front of a house at the end of the street. There was fresh snow piled on its roof, and there were quite a few people standing around it. A middle-aged man with yellow-stained front teeth held a bottle of booze, breathing on the car window, boasting drunkenly, "Did you see that? This is my daughter’s car, my flesh and blood daughter. That good-looking young guy just now, that’s my future son-in-law, how well-matched, dare anyone mock me for having no son to send me off in the end." The neighbors were all around the car, spitting and complimenting the man for raising such a good daughter. At the sight of the car’s license plate, Su Ziceng first closed her eyes and then covered her mouth with her hand, fearing that she couldn’t help but cry out loud. Now she was not only struggling to control her mouth, but her eyes as well didn’t want to believe what they saw. Hang Yishao had not been in touch with her not because he was playing hard to get, nor because he couldn’t swallow his pride, but because he had decided to be with Chang Chi. What exactly was going on, when it had started. He could go a month without contacting her, yet he was willing to accompany Chang Chi to the Sixth District, visiting a drunken stranger. Su Ziceng had always thought that by getting rid of Deng Jiani, she could rest easy. She believed that as long as she corrected her arrogant disposition and could stand on her own, she could retain the happiness that she had once lost. It turns out all of it was her wishful thinking, just a futile struggle on her part. The winter belonging to Su Ziceng truly began at that moment. The black Ferrari stayed parked in the snow, Su Ziceng stood in the snow, turning into a snow figure, for a long, long time, before she finally caught her breath and walked toward that man who was nearly drunk.(To be continued.
