"Don’t look at me with that smile and those eyes, you can’t use Qiao Chu’s face and make such expressions. I won’t allow it, nor will I permit it," Chang Mei’s anger sent the documents flying, paper scattered chaotically across the coffee table, and her eyes filled with red due to the intense emotional turbulence.
Su Ziceng grabbed a document in her hand, looked at it, it was a quarterly report, with black text on a white background. This time, she wouldn’t hastily jump to conclusions like before. After half a year of financial management classes, from initially getting a headache just seeing the financial statements, to now being able to understand them, the first thing she did right in her life as Su Ziceng was to choose to study at Kelly Women’s College. Chang Chi, for his "hopeless love", chose Daquan University, while she chose another path that led to independence.
The ringing of the cell phone in the bag went "beep beep", Chang Mei’s scolding still raging beside.
"Hm, tonight, at ’Admiration’? Really? I’m heading over right now," Su Ziceng hung up the phone and found that Chang Mei had already calmed down, this woman really was becoming more and more unreasonable, really wondering how Su Qingzhang never noticed her capriciousness like June weather.
"You’re going out?" Chang Mei’s voice already carried a hint of joy.
"I don’t need to report to you," Su Ziceng ran upstairs, her mood greatly uplifted by that recent phone call, unexpectedly, the Wine Shop issue that had been troubling her suddenly took a positive turn. With these thoughts, as she ran, she somewhat forgot her form, tip-toeing and bounding away.
Chang Mei did not send the servants to clean up the papers, instead letting the scene remain chaotically disordered. She then wiped off her lipstick, her lips quickly turning pale, and she messed up her hair with her hands, she had indeed wanted to send Su Ziceng away, and after everything was settled, Chang Mei sat in the lobby, watching Su Ziceng leave the house.
Su Ziceng left in a bit of a hurry, eager to attend that special "dinner" at ’Admiration’, unaware of why the usually neat Chang Mei didn’t command anyone to tidy the hall afterwards.
The car driving Su Ziceng had just left when Hang Yishao’s lemon-yellow Ferrari entered the Su Mansion’s gate.
Hang Yishao hadn’t visited the Su Mansion in many years, although one family was at the peak of Sixth District and one at the mid-mountain, but in earlier years because of Su Ziceng, he’d never visit on his own initiative. Coming out of the car with Hang Yi was Chang Chi.
"The Su Mansion is still the same," Hang Yishao’s home was a standard American villa, focused on modernity and practicality, unlike the Su’s preference for flamboyant and complex decorations. The garden alone contained a series of decorative yet impractical adornments.
"You haven’t been here for many years, have you? I remember the first time I saw you, it was right here," Chang Mei reminisced with a voice filled with longing, pointing to a nearby semi-circular arch.
"Here?" Hang Yishao was a bit puzzled, he was dragged there by his parents to attend a dinner hosted by the Su’s, hating to be a guest at others’ homes, bound by decorum, even having to chew his food slowly, so as soon as he finished eating, he sneaked out.
"You were in that direction; Ziceng was by your side. I...due to Ziceng’s crying, couldn’t join the table, so I hid behind the arch, secretly watching you," Chang Mei’s voice grew lower, and after that, she had fallen in love with Hang Yishao, for over ten years.
Even the slowest to understand could perceive the affection in Chang Chi’s eyes. Chang Mei’s eyes reddened, softening the tough image she usually maintained. Fei Qing once said Hang Yishao couldn’t stand to see a woman cry; frail women were like morning flowers with dew, always arousing his protective instincts.
Hang Yishao also felt a bit embarrassed, he coughed and touched his nose uncomfortably, "Let’s go inside, where is Ziceng? Her injuries should have mostly healed by now," he was here today to visit Su Ziceng’s condition.
Ignoring Chang Chi’s emotional description, Hang Yishao walked towards the Su’s main hall. Chang Chi stood still, as her tears dried up immediately like a wrenched faucet. She snorted, glanced towards the direction of Su Ziceng’s room, and then looked at the garage, noting that the car that brought Su Ziceng had vanished, and followed inside with reassurance.
After entering the living room, Hang Yishao paused, the living room was not as orderly as it typically was welcoming visitors, instead, the scene was somewhat "noisy". The files indiscriminately discarded, and a few smashed teacups seemed to suggest a tumult had just occurred a moment ago.
"What happened here," Chang Chi followed in, genuinely surprised at the chaotic scene inside. How could they let Hang Yishao see such a disorderly side? She had already informed her mother that Hang Yishao was coming, and to think of a way to delay Su Ziceng, but not to leave the house in such a state.
"Ziceng, went out," Chang Mei emerged from the side hall, her face hanging low, voice carrying an unprecedented weakness.
"Mom," Chang Chi noticed her diffe...
