"Why did you hit him?"
Xiaosuisui replied without thinking, "I didn’t want to hit him! He swung at me first, but he was too slow; he couldn’t even touch me. He kept repeating the same few moves. I got tired of waiting and didn’t want to play with him anymore, so I finally made a move... with my foot, and kicked him!"
As soon as the little girl said this, Captain Long couldn’t stop the corner of his mouth from twitching.
So she only made a move because she got tired of playing with him? It sounded like Her Highness the Princess fighting Xie Yinghui was simply a cat toying with a mouse.
"Princess, you are truly amazing!" Captain Long praised her generously.
Hearing herself praised, the little girl grinned broadly. "Hehe! You think I’m amazing too, right, Uncle Guard!" Her smile was so joyful, it seemed sweeter than preserved fruit from Zhiwei Restaurant.
"Princess, His Majesty bestowed upon me the name Long Wu. You may simply call me by my name."
Long Wu felt he was unworthy of being called "Uncle" by Her Highness the Princess.
He had originally been just a secret guard, forced to hide in dark corners. If Her Highness the Princess’s appearance hadn’t allowed him and several of his brothers to step into the light, transitioning from secret guards to overt guards, he would still be a clandestine guard, unable to show his face, let alone be the captain of the Inner Guard.
"Okay, Uncle Long Wu!"
"This humble servant dare not have the Princess call him ’Uncle.’ I implore Her Highness not to address me as such."
Long Wu knelt directly on the ground, imploring her.
The moment he knelt, a large number of Inner Guards RUSTLED to their knees, filling the ground.
Xiaosuisui frowned slightly. She didn’t understand why Uncle Long Wu was doing this.
At that moment, she understood even less that in the Royal Family, in this society, the hierarchical system and royal authority were far more significant than mere courtesy!
"Don’t kneel anymore. I just won’t call you Uncle, alright? Get up!"
Long Wu stood up with the group of Inner Guards. Just as he was about to speak, he saw Her Highness the Princess PITTER-PATTER past them, running straight to a young lady. This young lady was being held down by two maids, a handkerchief stuffed in her mouth.
"Let go of my pretty sister!"
The little girl pushed the two maids away and then went to push away two other maids who were holding down an injured woman.
"Go away, go away! Let go of my pretty sister’s mother!"
Long Wu followed Her Highness the Princess’s gaze and actions. Only then did he notice the long bench beside the woman. There were spots of blood on it, clearly indicating this family was in the process of torturing their servants.
Long Wu looked at the injured woman. Judging by her attire, she didn’t look like a master, nor did she look like a servant. Then there was the girl the Princess called "pretty sister," who looked to be thirteen or fourteen years old. Her clothes weren’t those of a maid. If she were a young lady of the Xie Family, the material and style of her clothes seemed rather shabby.
"Pretty Sister! Pretty Sister’s mom! Are you both okay?"
Xiaosuisui quickly checked the injuries on Xie Pan’Er and her mother. Then, she took a healing pill from her small pouch and fed it into Pan’Er’s mother’s mouth.
"Swallow it! This is very good for healing wounds!"
Pan’Er’s mother felt both overwhelmingly flattered and terrified. She quickly knelt down. "Thank you, Your Highness, for saving our lives!"
Xiaosuisui quickly helped the woman up, saying, "You’re welcome." Then she heard Long Wu ask, "Your Highness, why are you at the Xie Family’s residence? What is your relationship with these two? Please clarify, so that this humble servant may send someone back to the Palace to report the situation to His Majesty and also inform the Ji Mansion."
Xiaosuisui answered Long Wu’s questions very honestly. "I came out looking for Xiaobai and met Pretty Sister when she was buying preserved fruit at Zhiwei Restaurant. Then, Pretty Sister and I caught a thief together, but it turned out he wasn’t a thief. So I saved someone! Long Wu, let me tell you, saving people feels so good!"
As Xiaosuisui spoke, she was practically bursting with happiness.
Long Wu’s thick eyebrows furrowed tightly. He’d heard what Her Highness said, but he hadn’t understood a word of it!
