Wang Dongxue drew in a sharp breath. After a long pause, she finally asked, "So, she had someone dig a pit and bury them alive?"
This little girl, she’s quite something when it comes to revenge. They say a gentleman’s revenge can wait ten years, but she got hers in less than two months!
"It wasn’t others who dug the pit. Her Highness the Princess dug it herself, and His Majesty even personally helped her."
Upon hearing this, all the Ji family members silently looked skyward.
A dignified Emperor, rolling up his sleeves to help his adopted daughter bury someone—this truly must be unprecedented!
"Then why did His Majesty ask you to find us? Was it merely to inform us that the Grand Princess buried her enemy?"
Divine Hunter Ji Youzhi’s intuition told him this matter definitely wasn’t that simple!
The dark guard didn’t elaborate, only stating, "After Lord Divine Hunter and your family have an audience with His Majesty, His Majesty will naturally tell you what transpired."
With that, the dark guard spurred his horse and rode off ahead.
The Ji family members, each with their own concerns, arrived at the Main Gate of the County Yamen with heavy hearts. County Magistrate Wu was already personally waiting at the entrance.
"Greetings, Old Madam Ji, and all the gentlemen and ladies."
There were so many members in the Ji Family that County Magistrate Wu couldn’t recognize them all.
"We’ve troubled you, County Magistrate. His Majesty has summoned us for an audience. May I ask where His Majesty is currently?"
County Magistrate Wu quickly led the way. "This way, please, everyone!"
When Old Madam Ji and her party arrived at the young Emperor’s temporary residence, the little girl was stuffing her cheeks. A pile of watermelon rinds lay in the basin before her.
The Ji family members all sighed inwardly and paid their respects to the Emperor. Although the Emperor had said the Ji Family need not kneel, a normal salute was still required.
"Grandma!"
The young Emperor had just said, "No need for formalities," when the little girl ran to Old Madam Ji, holding a large slice of watermelon. "Grandma, have some melon!"
In the Emperor’s presence, Old Madam Ji, fearing a breach of etiquette, quickly put the watermelon down. "Suisui, be good. You mustn’t be impolite before His Majesty!"
"I’m not being impolite! Emperor Adoptive Father said we’re family, and in front of family, one should be able to act as one pleases."
The young Emperor chuckled. "Indeed, Old Madam Ji, there’s no need for such excessive ceremony. Suisui is my daughter, and you are Suisui’s grandmother. By that count, I am your junior. Besides, we are not in the Palace now, so let’s not be so particular about etiquette."
"Thank you, Your Majesty!"
Old Madam Ji said no more. She directly pulled Xiaosuisui into her arms and wiped the watermelon juice from the corner of her mouth. "Are you happy here with your Emperor Adoptive Father?"
Xiaosuisui nodded enthusiastically. "Emperor Adoptive Father has so much yummy food here! Xiaosuisui’s little tummy is all full!"
Hearing this, the Ji family members couldn’t help but shake their heads. "What a little glutton!"
"Here, this is your Xiaobai. Since you love eating so much, how about tonight we stew it and let you have some rabbit meat!" Huo Xing’Er said, handing Xiaobai to Xiaosuisui.
"Xiaobai! You’re here too!" Xiaosuisui exclaimed joyfully, taking Xiaobai and cuddling it in her arms. "Huh? Why is it sleeping?"
"This little fellow is exceptionally good at running. We spent a lot of effort to catch it, so I placed a restriction on it. I’ll remove it now!" As Huo Xing’Er spoke, a white light flashed from her hand, and Xiaobai immediately woke up.
Seeing that it was Xiaosuisui holding it, Xiaobai, which had initially bared its sharp teeth at Huo Xing’Er, immediately and obediently shrank into Xiaosuisui’s embrace.
Huo Xing’Er’s mouth twitched. Damn it! This blasted rabbit actually knows how to curry favor depending on the person!
