Chapter 8 - Superpower Asscociation It wasn't just his combat ability. It was also his intellect and his knowledge. While others struggled to understand complex topics and ideas, he was able to grasp them easily. This allowed him to master the subjects he liked, and even though it didn't help much in his current life, his knowledge and understanding were still something that many people would find useful. But all of this would change today. Today, everything would be different. Today, he would go to the Superpower Awakening Center, where he would gain a superpower. Superpowers weren't just rare abilities—they were the foundation of modern society. Almost every human had one, and those without a power were considered anomalies. The world had evolved in a way that made superpowers a necessity, not just for survival, but for everyday life. Whether it was transportation, medicine, construction, or even entertainment, superpowers were integrated into everything. It hadn't always been like this. There was a time when humans were ordinary, bound by the limits of natural strength and intelligence. But everything changed when the Magic Particle Theory was confirmed. Decades ago, scientists had discovered that magic particles—a mysterious energy source that existed in every living being—could be manipulated to unlock unique abilities. At first, it was a slow process, but over generations, humanity adapted. Babies were born with higher affinities for magic particles, and soon, having a superpower became the norm rather than the exception. By now, nearly 99% of the human population had some kind of power, ranging from simple enhancements like increased stamina or night vision to reality-altering abilities that could shape the world itself. Cities were built differently, transportation systems had changed, and even the way people fought wars had been rewritten. Governments, organizations, and entire industries revolved around superpower users. Without them, civilization would collapse. And yet, despite this, not everyone was treated equally. Some were considered more valuable than others, and the gap between them was clear. Those with more potent powers were prized above the rest. They were revered, respected, and often held in higher esteem than normal people. For the average citizen, having a powerful ability was a sign of wealth and prestige. So, the awakening is considered the most important moment of a person's life. Ethan looked at the clock, his eyes focusing on the digital display. It was almost time. He needs to go to the Superpower Association Center to awaken his superpower. The Superpower Awakening Center was where every person officially discovered their ability at age 18. It was a moment that determined everything—their future, their career, their place in society. Some people awakened weak or common powers, like enhanced endurance or minor healing. Others were luckier, gaining rare or unique abilities that granted them elite status immediately. And then there were the high-top level powers—abilities so rare and overwhelming that those who possessed them stood at the peak of the world. Powers that could bend space, reverse time, or alter reality itself, but he is not sure if this is true or not as he has never heard of any of these users before. And the ones that his family have are part of the top tier powers but he does not know the details as they have never said anything about it and he never asked. Ethan didn't know what kind of power he would awaken today, but after what had happened last night—after realizing that his bloodline was something far beyond normal—he wasn't worried. If he awakened a superpower naturally, that was great. And if he didn't? He still had his Incubus Bloodline. But even if he didn't, things would not have changed much as the family he was adopted into can be considered as one of the top in the world. So he has a stable living situation where he does not even need to worry about not having a job after the awakening. However, who doesn't want to have a superpower and a powerful one at that whi could not only make his life better but also make him stand among the most powerful people in the world? His train of thought was interrupted by a hand gently patting his head. "Come on, Ethan, finish your food. We have to go." His gaze shifted up, his eyes meeting Lilith's gentle crimson ones. She smiled, her hand brushing against his cheek. A small grin formed on his lips, and he nodded. "Yeah." He glanced back at the table, seeing the others watching him with soft smiles. A strange feeling welled up in his chest, something warm and comforting. These were the women who had raised him, loved him, and guided him. They were his family. He didn't know what was going to happen, but as long as he was with them, he would be okay. With a deep breath, he finished his food, and they all left the mansion, heading toward the Superpower Association's Awakening Center, located on the east side of the Association Headquarters. The building itself was massive, standing tall with sleek metal walls, glowing blue lights running along its edges, and large digital screens displaying news and rankings of the latest awakenings. The Awakening Center was a separate section connected to the main building, built specifically for testing and recording new superpowers. As they approached, they passed through wide glass doors that slid open automatically. Security was tight, with guards in high-tech armor stationed at key points, scanning every visitor with small floating drones. Inside, the place was bustling with people. The main hall had a high ceiling, bright white floors that reflected the overhead lights, and holographic signs guiding newcomers. Large registration booths lined one side of the hall, each equipped with fingerprint and eye scanners to verify identities. A massive digital board hung above, listing recent awakenings and their power classifications—Elemental, Strength-Based, Psychic, and the rare Mythical abilities. After a moment, all of them went to one of the empty booths in the registration area. "Hello, can I help you?" A lady asked from the other side of the reception desk. "We are here for my son's awakening," Lilith replied, smiling at the lady. The lady glanced at them and immediately recognized the faces, and she immediately straightened up and spoke with respect and formality.
