Charles didn't linger here just for leisure; Far had once again sensed the aura of a Fallen Fairy. However, the energy was so faint and scattered that Far couldn't pinpoint the exact location. Thinking back to the plot, Charles recalled that, besides the white-haired specter he had slain, there were two other "hybrid-type" monsters who were once human—Mask Man and the red-haired woman Revis. Together with the specter, these three were responsible for collaborating with the Evilus faction and smuggling the embryo-like gems to the surface. Since he hadn't encountered them on the 59th floor, it was likely the remaining two were operating somewhere in the middle levels. What Charles didn't know was whether they were aware that the Fallen Fairy's clone had already been purified. He wandered around Rivira but found no sign of the two. Still, he wasn't obsessed with finding them immediately—it wasn't worth the hassle. None other than Udaeus's Black Sword. After hearing of Ais's feat, Ottar would later solo the boss himself and forge the legendary blade from the drop. The blacksmith's soul within Charles trembled. He began plotting to beat Ottar to it—take down Udaeus himself and test the legendary crafting material that had required the Gubnir Familia's top smiths working together. But as luck—or irony—would have it, the second piece of news from Bors was also about Ottar. Some adventurers who had reached the 18th floor said they'd seen Ottar in the middle levels. Why the strongest adventurer in Orario would be hanging around the middle levels puzzled everyone. But Charles did some quick mental math and figured it out. After Bell had nearly been killed by a Minotaur and was left traumatized, Freya sent Ottar into the dungeon to capture one for training—intending it to be Bell's first true "heroic feat," so that his light would shine without blemish. Charles wondered if Ottar had already found the one Minotaur rumored to be the "bull girl" in her past life. At this moment, Charles felt extremely grateful that his goddess wasn't as whimsical as a certain other one. Though he did sympathize with Bell—he gave a silent prayer on his behalf. But then fate reminded Charles not to jinx himself. On the 15th floor, he found himself face-to-face with a large, blade-wielding boar-man. He initially thought it was a coincidence. But when Ottar moved to block his path, it became clear this wasn't just a chance encounter. Charles frowned and said, "Mighty warrior of Freya Familia, I don't recall us being on such friendly terms that you can just greet me on the road. You're in my way." Ottar replied, "Charles of Hephaestus Familia—I was waiting for you." Charles's frown deepened. From what he remembered of Ottar's character, the man was not one to pick fights for no reason. Ottar stepped back, glanced at the now handle-only weapon, and casually tossed it aside. "Oh? So this is your fairy power? Still… it's not enough to meet Her expectations." It was the first time Ottar had spoken so many words. But Charles wasn't in the mood to listen. Instead of drawing his backup weapon, Ottar charged barehanded. Charles dismissed his armaments too—ready to fight hand-to-hand. As angry as he was about the ambush, he had long wanted to test himself against Orario's ultimate weapon. Ottar's power was raw and straightforward. Except for his Magic stat, all his base abilities had long surpassed the S-rank limit. His magic, Hildis Vini, was never shown in the original plot, so its effect remained a mystery. But his two passive skills were beyond question. As their fists collided again and again, Charles realized that Ottar wasn't just brute force—his technique was refined as well. Which made sense. Ottar had gained more experience fighting fellow adventurers than monsters. Raised in Freya Familia's hellish environment, he had faced the former powerhouses of the Zeus and Hera Familia. He went from being unable to beat even their weakest members… to one day fighting LV8 "Heroes" and LV9 "Empresses." In fact, Ottar's rise to LV7 came after defeating "Gluttony" Chaldo during the Grand War. Charles and Ottar were complete opposites—one a master of martial arts, the other a battle-hardened juggernaut forged by experience. "This test ends here. Any further would be a real death match—and that's not what Lady Freya wants. If you refuse, I'll retreat." Charles blinked, then dropped Dragon Blood Mode as well. Ottar's attitude annoyed him, but he knew the man meant every word. "Fine. But just this once. If you provoke me again… you won't decide when it ends." Ottar gave Charles a long, deep look—like trying to etch him into memory. Then, silently, he picked up his discarded blade and walked away.
