On this land called Ishgar, magic has been thoroughly woven into everyday life. But with it came disputes and conflict—hence the existence of Dark Guilds. To oversee all matters related to magic and maintain order, the Magic Council was established. All major guilds are subject to the Council's regulation in both activities and job assignments, and when violations occur, it's the Council that investigates and enforces punishments. Even the highest honor a mage on the continent can receive—becoming one of the Ten Wizard Saints—is conferred only after being evaluated and approved by the Council. The Council's overwhelming authority doesn't stem from how many powerful mages it possesses or the scale of its magical forces, but from the forbidden weapons it holds in its grasp—more than one, in fact. Seeing that frog-like figure suddenly brought all of this back to Charles's mind. Aside from Council members, he couldn't recall any other entities in the original storyline that resembled such a being. "Everyone remain where you are. I am an envoy of the Magic Council." Sure, in the original story the Magic Council got destroyed more than once, mostly serving as a narrative prop to showcase how terrifying the villains were. But that didn't change the fact that the Council is the official body that governs all guilds. If they suddenly sent someone to Fairy Tail, everyone naturally wondered what they were up to. The frog didn't beat around the bush and announced bluntly, "In relation to the terrorist incident involving Iron Forest a few days ago, and under suspicion of eleven charges including property destruction, Erza Scarlet and Charles Igneel are hereby placed under immediate arrest!" "Eh?!!" "What?!" "You've got to be kidding!" ... Now, Charles and Erza walked side by side down a corridor inside the Fiore branch of the Council, shackles around their wrists. They'd been brought in and told they would face trial immediately. This place really was a testament to magic—the structure of the Council's branch defied architectural principles, with even the upper floors floating in midair. Charles wasn't nervous at all. Honestly, he couldn't quite remember how this scene played out in the original plot. But it didn't seem like an important storyline. He doubted the Council would really push things too far—otherwise the original work would've shown Fairy Tail toppling the Council by now. That being said, what puzzled Charles wasn't the trial itself, but who was arrested. He had been the one to defeat Lullaby in full view of everyone, and it was his Crimson Lotus Phoenix Blade that demolished the venue. So it made sense the Council would come after him. But why Erza? From what he could recall, Erza hadn't caused the most destruction. That honor clearly went to Natsu—he was the one who wrecked the train station in Oshibana and damaged the railway fighting Erigor. Yet in the end, it was Erza who got dragged in. Something wasn't right here. Erza understood better than anyone that this so-called "trial" was nothing but a formality. The Council was always threatening to punish Fairy Tail, but their consequences rarely amounted to more than a slap on the wrist—a review report, maybe a fine. Nothing serious. Sure, they'd gone as far as using arrest warrants this time, but the result would be the same. The Council knew Fairy Tail wasn't like Dark Guilds that operated recklessly. They were chaotic—but within bounds. And if anyone dared touch their comrades or family, Fairy Tail would absolutely show them what "out of control" really meant. Most importantly… even just counting those who were openly recognized, Fairy Tail had one Wizard Saint and five S-Class mages. And Gildarts? He had long surpassed even the standard of the Ten Wizard Saints. The younger generation—Natsu, Gray, and the others—hadn't passed the S-Class test yet, but their power and potential clearly reached that level. Not to mention their Guild Master, Makarov, was deeply connected and respected by many other guild leaders. He was even friends with a number of Council members and Wizard Saints. To be blunt, Fairy Tail was more than qualified to be considered the strongest mage guild on the Ishgar continent. The Council would have to be insane to truly go after them. That's why Fairy Tail often crossed the line—and somehow still got away with it. Still, the Council had its pride. It needed to appear authoritative. Which is why this arrest was just for show—the trial wouldn't lead to anything real. So even with shackles on her wrists, Erza remained calm and composed. But that composure shattered when she saw the man standing at the end of the hallway. Charles could clearly feel her body begin to tremble. He looked ahead. A young man with blue hair stood there, dressed neatly in a formal robe. He wore a bright, open smile, and the markings below his eyes added a sense of mystique. Even the previously haughty frog bent at the waist in deference to him—clearly, this man held considerable status. Siegrain. The youngest Council member and the youngest of the Ten Wizard Saints. Without a doubt, a rising star. He ranked number one on "Wizard Weekly's" list of most ideal male mages to date—his popularity with women was off the charts. But Erza, upon seeing him, didn't show admiration or joy. Instead, her face twisted into a mix of emotions— Disgust, regret, confusion... and fear. Yes—Erza Scarlet, the iron-willed knight who even problem children like Natsu and Gray called terrifying, was now afraid. And Charles understood why. It was because of Siegrain's true identity. The man known as Siegrain didn't truly exist. He was a Thought Projection of another mage named Jellal. In this world, mages could learn both innate and universal magic. One such universal type was Thought Projection—a technique where a mage splits their own spirit and magical power to create a clone of themselves. Siegrain was exactly that. A clone forged from half of Jellal's power, enabling him to deceive everyone—including the Council—and earn a seat among the Ten Wizard Saints. Erza had known Jellal since childhood. They were kidnapped together by a cult that worshipped Zeref, and had survived countless horrors by leaning on each other. But after relentless torture, Jellal eventually broke. Someone took advantage of his mental collapse and drove him mad. Eight years ago, he threatened Erza with her comrades' lives, forcing her to leave them behind. At the same time, he lied to those very comrades, labeling Erza as a traitor and turning them into pawns for his plan. His fall into darkness scarred Erza deeply—and remained her nightmare even now. She didn't know Siegrain's true identity, but just seeing his face was enough to shatter her composure. "Siegrain…" The young man walked over and smiled. "It's been a while, Erza." Noticing Erza's guarded stance, Siegrain chuckled. "Relax. This is just a projection. The old men inside are the same—they wouldn't bother showing up in person for something this minor." Erza finally began to piece it together. "So that's it. You're behind this nonsense. How petty." Siegrain spread his arms and smiled strangely. "Now now, that's harsh. I even spoke up on your guild's behalf, you know? The old guys just didn't want a big scene, so they needed a scapegoat. That's all." "Shut up," Erza snapped coldly, glaring at his face. She wasn't buying it. Siegrain stepped in closer. "Anyway, I didn't come here before the trial for anything serious…" Charles calmly stepped between him and Erza. "Councilor, even if we're about to stand trial, that doesn't give you the right to act out of line." "Charles Igneel?" Siegrain halted and took a closer look at him. "Our first meeting—what a shame it couldn't be under better circumstances. I'd have liked to get to know you." Then he turned to Erza again. "What I wanted to say, Erza, I know you already understand. So I won't waste words. As a Councilor, I'll be waiting for you… on the other side." And with that, Siegrain's body faded into thin air.
