Chapter 92: Driving Me Crazy! Seraphina’s POV The man I held in my arms was driving me crazy to the point where I had broken every rule of my dorm and ran away without telling anyone I’d be gone tonight and soon, I’d be facing the consequences. What was I doing? How was I supposed to control myself if he kept acting like this? He kept doing these things for me no one had ever done before other than my brothers! Just who was he to stir all these confusing, bubbly feelings in my heart? Before I could stop myself, the question slipped out. "Why are you being so kind to me?" Lucien didn’t answer right away. "Hah..." he let out a soft sound above my head and chuckled lightly but he said nothing about my question. Instead, he tilted his head and pointed toward a nearby sliding door. "Go and change first," he said gently. I looked at the door, my heart beginning to thump again. "Wh...what’s there?" I asked, already knowing that it must be washroom. My heart quickened even more, and he noticed it. I hated that! "See?" Lucien smiled faintly. "Even your heart’s beating too fast. Please go before you get even more sick." And with that, he carefully pulled me out of his arms. "Let talk after you have something and taken you meds!" He pronounced. "Let’s talk after you eat something and take your meds," Lucien pronounced calmly. "Excuse me?" I shot him a look. "Weren’t we just talking about changing? Where did this meal and medication thing suddenly come from?" I rolled my eyes. "And by the way, I have to reach my dorm before 10:30. I didn’t even inform the teachers I was leaving. If they don’t find me during their rounds, I’ll be in serious trouble, and a lot has already happened at school. I really can’t afford any more things to happen." I realized I had just spilled everything in one breath, but he just stood there, listening patiently without interrupting me. Then, without saying a word, he pointed toward the hanging clock on the wall. "I guess... you’re already in trouble," he said with a faint smirk. I turned my head slowly, following the direction of his finger. And gasped. "No way!" My eyes almost bulged out of my sockets. "It’s already past ten?!" I turned my head back to him, accusingly. "You! Why did you come back so late? What the hell were you doing? And where was your damn phone? If you had just answered my call, I wouldn’t have ended up here in this pitiful state!" Lucien looked a little stunned at my sudden outburst but strangely, he stayed calm. And trust me, he was way too calm. He wasn’t teasing me like he usually did. Instead, he just stood there, quietly answering my questions, telling me to change or eat... without getting bothered. Just what the hell was wrong with this guy? I let out a sharp hmph and stormed off, fuming, not only just at him, but at the mess I’d gotten myself into. How was I supposed to explain this? If the dorm teachers or my guardian, how the hell was I going to make an excuse? Damn it! My head felt too small to carry all these problems. I couldn’t take it anymore. ****** Lucien’s POV I was feeling guilty that she had to wait so long for me at the gate. I truly wished she had waited with the guard instead. But when she told me why she didn’t... I was stunned. The guard was a stranger to her. But so was I. She had only met me a few times just like the guard but she chose to trust me. That thought alone was enough to drive me crazy. I couldn’t believe it and couldn’t understand how or when it happened. But just like her... I was feeling the same bubbly, strange feelings in my heart. When she asked me why I was being so kind to her, I didn’t even know how to respond. I had no words. But I knew what she was feeling and it wasn’t one-sided. And when she jumped into my arms suddenly and openly... I was too stunned to speak and was caught off guard. After that, I just went along with whatever she said, whatever she did because honestly, I didn’t know what else to do. I went to the kitchen, still lost in my thoughts. Without thinking much, I took off my blazer, rolled my sleeves up to my elbows, threw on an apron, and started preparing some porridge for her. I wasn’t new to cooking... I was a master-class chef, trained out of pure hobby. But tonight... it felt different. I’d cooked for others before a few times. But this was the first time I was cooking for her. And for some reason, it made me nervous. "Were you serious when you said you were going to cook for me?" Seraphina’s voice rang from behind me. I turned slightly, catching a glimpse of her in the clothes I had picked out for her. Yeah. I had done that too. Honestly, I didn’t know what the hell had gotten into me. I’d never cared about any of this before. About rooms, or lights, or stupid bedsheets. I had never paid attention to details that didn’t matter for others. But when she said she didn’t like the mansion’s interior. It felt cold and gloomy, I wanted to tear the whole place down and rebuild it with colors she loved. I didn’t want to pressure her, so instead... I made a room for her with her likings that she had told me in her drunken state. I didn’t even know if she truly liked it. Maybe she was just touched because I thought about her or maybe she didn’t like it much. Either way, I still felt like a fool. As I was doing everything against my own nature and yet not regretting a single part of it.
