Chapter 65: 'You’re Dangerous!"

Chapter 65: “You’re Dangerous!" Lucien’s POV I couldn’t sleep the whole night. My mind was spinning with everything Seraphina had said. No matter how much I tried to believe it, I couldn’t get myself to take it all as real. Her words were hard to believe. It wasn’t because I didn’t want to believe her, but because they sounded impossible and unreal. It all seemed as if they came from the trauma after what she had been through all this time. But I had to know the truth. And the only way to do that was to see it for myself. That room she had mentioned. Room 402. If it really existed... if she was ever kept there, then I’d find it no matter what. And then there were other things too. The mysterious man she mentioned at the mall! Who the hell was he? What did he say or do that left her that shaken? She didn’t give me details, but whatever it was... it made her lose composure, and she collapsed. That day, she trembled like she was reliving something far worse than anything she’d told me. I needed to know what the hell had happened. Because whatever it was, it wasn’t just in her head... It was eating her alive! I told my men to keep digging until they found the guy Seraphina had met. They didn’t waste time. Everyone worked hard, combing through hours of footage and cross-checking every face. Finally, they sent me a clip. In that footage, I saw a janitor. Who was accidentally passing by, and he was the one who helped her... led her quietly from the VVIP area all the way down to the basement exit. That wasn’t normal, because the VVIP area didn’t have any male workers of his age working there. So where did he come from? Only authorized people could access that part of the mall. So how the hell was he even there? And more than that, he didn’t exist on the staff list as a janitor or anything else! That could only mean one thing. Seraphina wasn’t imagining it all and babbling things. Whatever she saw, whatever she felt... it was real. At least to some extent, and now I had enough proof to chase the truth. I replayed the footage. Her face was full of horror, and there was shock in her eyes; the way her lips moved it seemed she was saying something important. When the man said something, Sera froze. But before she could speak, he was gone. No camera caught where he went. It was like he vanished into thin air. Like he’d never existed in the first place. But I knew what I saw. And now, I was determined to find him, no matter what it took. I wasn’t only going to find that, but look into that room in the mental hospital also. Compared to the mall, where I could easily pull any strings and get access without much trouble, the mental hospital was a whole different thing. It was a private organization, heavily secured and guarded like a vault. Getting inside wasn’t something I could do overnight. I needed a solid plan and strong connections to infiltrate them! And time was the one thing I didn’t have. "Fuck," I cursed under my breath, frustration burning through me. The waiting was driving me insane. All I wanted was to look Seraphina in the eyes and tell her—that place doesn’t exist. That room isn’t real. It was all just a nightmare that her mind created out of fear. But I couldn’t say any of that until I had proof. And until then, all I could do was prepare and keep her safe from the demons that she had been dealing all alone. "Umm..." I was still lost in thought when I heard her soft groan. Seraphina shifted under the covers, stretching her arms above her head like a lazy kitten just waking from a nap. The small movement pulled me out of my thoughts. She was waking up. And that meant it was already late. My eyes darted toward the wall clock... it was 8 AM. "Good morning, Sera," I said as I stood up, walked over to her side, and gently took her hand in mine. Without a second thought, I leaned down and pressed a soft kiss on the back of her hand. Her body froze. "Mo... Morning," she whispered, her voice flustered, and she quickly, she tried to pull her hand away but I didn’t let her. "Why are you running away?" I asked, lowering my voice just enough to make her feel the heat. I already knew the effect it had on her. "I... I’m just trying to wake up properly," she stammered, her cheeks turning a beautiful shade of red as she avoided my gaze. "And... and you could’ve just let me sleep in the guest room." "Really?" I raised my brow, amused by her attempt to dodge the moment. "And how exactly do you know this room belongs to me?" Her eyes widened as if she was caught red-handed. Seraphina blinked, clearly thrown off by my question. Her lips parted slightly, but no sound came out at first. "I just... guessed," she finally muttered, looking everywhere but just avoiding to look at me. "Guessed, hmm?" I leaned closer, keeping my eyes fixed on her flustered face. "So, do you often wander into strange men’s rooms and guess they’re the master bedrooms?" I clearly knew she had been here once and that’s why she remembered but teasing her had it’s own perks. "That’s not what I meant!" she shot back. She tried to push me away as she pulled the quilt up to her chin. "I mean... it felt like your room." "Felt?" I wondered with a smirk. "Does that mean my scent was strong enough for you to recognize it?" Her face turned crimson. "You’re so full of yourself," she grumbled and rolled to the side, trying to hide her face in the pillow. "I must’ve still been drunk last night to even talk to you." "Maybe," I said softly, sitting at the edge of the bed. "But that doesn’t change the fact that you’re here, in my bed, with my shirt on... and looking far too adorable." "I’m not adorable!" she protested from under the pillow. "Fine," I said with a low chuckle. "You’re dangerous, then." My words made her peek out again as she frowned in confusion. "Dangerous?" She raised her brows and said. "How am I dangerous?" "Yeah," I said, brushing a strand of hair away from her face. "Because every time you look at me like that... I forget all the reasons in the world and try to be on your side." Her heartbeat was so loud that I could easily hear it. "You must remember what you promised," I pronounced as my voice was low and steady. She turned to look at me in shock the moment those words escaped my lips, but she quickly evaded my gaze. "Wh... What promise?" she mumbled, pretending to focus on the folds of the blanket instead of facing me. I narrowed my brows and leaned in a little. I was not letting her escape that easily.
