Chapter 74: Front Teeth

Hearing Harry's voice, Malfoy hurriedly turned around but didn't have time to react. Harry crashed into him, sending Malfoy flying backward into the grinning Goyle, and the two of them tumbled to the ground. "Harry Potter!" Malfoy shouted angrily. Before Harry could even grasp what had just happened, Ron and Neville roared in fury and charged at Malfoy! "You're going to pay for what you said, Malfoy!" Ron shouted. "Don't you dare use that word, don't you!" Neville, fueled by a newfound courage and anger, joined in. Two fists struck Malfoy's face, one after the other. The refined-looking Malfoy let out a scream, and blood instantly gushed from his nose. "How dare you!" Pansy Parkinson shrieked, grabbing onto Ron's robe and scratching his neck with her nails. The other Slytherins didn't just stand by either—Goyle kicked Neville in the stomach, and Nott shoved Ron away. Harry froze for just a moment but quickly regained his senses. As Crabbe raised his fist to hit Neville in the head, Harry leapt into the fray without hesitation. Slytherins and Gryffindors immediately clashed, and a full-on brawl broke out. They had no time to use spells; it was all fists and kicks, and though the three Gryffindor boys briefly gained the upper hand, they quickly fell into a disadvantage. Hermione didn't quite understand what Malfoy had just called her, but she instinctively used the spell she was most familiar with— "Wingardium Leviosa!" (Levitation Charm) With a powerful swish of her wand, the Slytherins suddenly felt as though their robes were strangling them. They were yanked off their feet by their own clothes, suspended in the air for a couple of seconds, and then dropped to the ground with a thud. Harry and the other two, who had been pinned to the floor and getting beaten up, stared at her in shock. "Ah!" Pansy had landed on her nose and groaned in pain, cursing, "You filthy Mudblood—" Malfoy, his face covered in blood, scrambled up from the ground, pulled out his wand, and shouted at Hermione, "Densaugeo!" (Front Teeth Elongating Hex) "Stop!" Harry quickly drew his wand and recalled a spell he had seen in a book— "Tarantallegra!" (Dancing Feet Spell) The spells shot past each other in mid-air. Malfoy's spell struck Hermione, and she let out a whimper as she quickly reached up to cover her face. But her front teeth were already growing at an alarming rate, extending past her lips and down toward her chin in the blink of an eye. Harry's spell hit Malfoy, and though it wasn't perfectly executed, it sent Malfoy stumbling backward. Spells flew wildly around the corridor, and students passing by quickly ducked out of the way. But soon, everyone realized that their spells weren't as effective as their fists, so the young wizards resumed their brawl with punches and kicks. Hermione's teeth had already grown past her chin. She tried to leave but was blocked by Pansy Parkinson, so the brown-haired girl charged forward and delivered a fierce headbutt, causing both of them to scream in pain. "Immobulus!" (Freezing Charm) A sudden voice echoed through the corridor, freezing everyone in place, their positions frozen in oddly humorous poses. —A professor is here? The students all had the same thought and instantly felt a surge of panic. Only Neville cheered, "Wade!" Harry, with one hand pushing against Malfoy's face and tangled up with Nott, found himself immobilized in a twisted position. He strained his eyes to the side and caught a glimpse of a tall, slender figure stretched out in the sunlight from the window. "Neville?" Wade Grey's surprised voice rang out. "And—uh, Hermione—what are you doing?" Before Neville could respond, Wade quickly cast two spells: "Finite Incantatem! Dimittis roboris!" (General Counter-Spell and Strength Release spell) Everyone finally relaxed from their awkward frozen positions, but they were left feeling weak and unsteady. Harry nearly ended up hugging Malfoy and quickly pulled away, turning to see who had arrived. It wasn't just Wade Grey who had come; Michael Corner and Padma Patil from Ravenclaw, Theo Mancini, and Ryan Carrow from Hufflepuff were with him. With the four houses often having mixed classes, students from the same year weren't complete strangers but were not particularly close either—mostly just acquaintances who knew each other by name. Still, Harry and Ron knew that the students before them were considered top of their class. They were often praised and earned points for their houses and had never been known to cause trouble or break school rules like the Weasley twins. Wade Grey, in particular, was well-liked by nearly all the professors and was known as the inventor of the Book of Friends... Hermione tried to cover them with her hands, but it was difficult since her teeth were still growing and had almost reached her shoulders. The long, gleaming white teeth looked both frightening and ridiculous. The girl let out a whimper, touching her teeth in a mix of fear and shock, tears welling up in her eyes. "It's alright; Madam Pomfrey can fix this in two minutes," Wade reassured her and draped his outer robe over Hermione's head. "Padma, could you please accompany Hermione to the hospital wing?" "Sure, leave it to me," Padma responded promptly, guiding Hermione away. She adjusted Hermione's robe to cover the increasingly monstrous teeth, shielding them from prying and mocking eyes. With the girls gone, Wade turned to the others, smiled, and said gently: "So—can someone tell me what happened here?"
