Chapter 135: Lupin's Home

In the distant Hogwarts, Harry suddenly felt a sharp pain in the scar on his forehead, as if a terrifying scream echoed from far away. He was training on the Quidditch field, and the pain made him dizzy, causing him to lose control and fall from his broomstick. "Harry—" The team gasped in shock. Fred, who was nearby, sped over and managed to catch Harry by the ankle just before he hit the ground. ... Outside the cave, everyone looked at Wade, waiting for him to give them an answer. Wade spoke calmly: "You know, some magical objects have the creator's thoughts infused into them during the making process." "No wonder that shadow just now felt so evil," Michael sighed in relief. "It must have been infused with the evil thoughts of... Tom." The young wizards accepted this explanation, but Lupin gave Wade a deep look. "There might still be lingering flames. Be careful not to get burned." He raised his wand and said, "Accio Diadem!" Even if there had been an anti-summoning charm on it originally, it would certainly have been destroyed by the fiendfyre. So the diadem immediately flew toward him, and Lupin grabbed it mid-air. He turned it over and inspected the diadem. All the magic attached to it had been destroyed, leaving behind only an ordinary metal object. The surface was still coated with a dark and sticky substance, which was burned by the fire and stuck to the surface dryly; when touched, it crumbled like ash. "Aguamenti!" (Water-Making Spell) Wade summoned a stream of water to clean the diadem, then placed it back into its box. "Does this thing have any use now?" Lupin asked. "No, not really," Wade replied. "But I promised someone I would return it to its original place after removing the Dark magic." It was a three-story house with an attic at the top, giving it the appearance of a tall, slender mushroom. Beside it was a fenced area containing a dozen chickens and a single goat. A bit farther out was a rectangular vegetable garden where lettuce, snow cabbage, tomatoes, strawberries, and other plants grew. The garden was bordered by bright, colorful flowers like cornflowers, dahlias, and peonies. Most wizards are fairly self-sufficient. Lupin hadn't had this opportunity before, but now that he had a stable home, he learned to tend to it as others did. With the help of magic, gardening and livestock care were far easier than they would be for non-magical people. Upon entering, there was a spacious living room, where the fire in the fireplace automatically ignited. The coat rack by the door leaned down to make it easier for the young wizards to hang up their coats. To the side, there was a small door leading to the kitchen. "Pretty nice, isn't it?" Ryan said as he looked around. "It's more spacious inside than it looks from the outside." Lupin directed the teapot and cups to fly out from the kitchen and pour everyone a cup of hot tea. He also brought out cookies and cakes to serve his young guests. Michael leaned near the fireplace and examined the photos on the wall. Some photos showed Lupin and Harry together, others with Wade and Harry, and one even had Harry holding the goat. One photo was clearly from Lupin's youth, showing him with the same gentle smile he wore today. In the photo was also a black-haired boy with glasses and messy hair, who looked a lot like Harry. This was likely Harry's father, James Potter. Next to him was a short, plump boy with small, round eyes and a pointy nose, smiling shyly. Michael couldn't help but associate his appearance and expression with that of a rat. There was one more person in the photo with black hair, barely visible. He was standing close to James Potter, but his face was obscured. "Who's this?" Michael asked, unable to hold back his curiosity. "Someone unimportant." Lupin quickly came over and took the photo down from the wall. "I forgot to put this away." He placed the photo face down on the table, then smiled and asked the others, "What would you like for lunch?" While Lupin was in the kitchen, guiding pots and pans to clang and sizzle as he prepared lunch, Michael whispered to Wade, "His expression changed... this person is definitely not 'unimportant.'"
