At 8 p.m., Wade arrived outside the Headmaster's office, where the grotesque stone gargoyle tilted its head and stared at him. "Cream biscuits," Wade said. The stone beast stepped aside, revealing the path upward. Wade ascended the spiral staircase, which moved slowly, eventually bringing him to the oak door adorned with a brass knocker. He knocked lightly on the knocker, and the door quietly swung open. Stepping inside, he found Dumbledore bent over and examining something on a large desk in front of him. And the Sorting Hat was resting nearby. The walls were lined with portraits of former headmasters, who were noisily chattering amongst themselves when Wade entered. The moment the door opened, all the voices fell silent, and the portraits turned their attention to him. If not for the ever-burning candles that filled the bright room with warmth, the scene might have seemed a bit eerie. Dumbledore's phoenix, Fawkes, perched on the brass ring holding one of the candles. Compared to last year, Fawkes appeared aged and frail, with sparse feathers and an air of impending death. "Oh, Wade, right on time," Dumbledore said as he straightened up. "Come here quickly—I've acquired a fascinating little toy today." "Good evening, Professor Dumbledore. What is this?" Wade stepped closer to the desk and was surprised to see several Pocket magic pets resting upon it. There were miniature versions of a phoenix, a fire dragon, a Pegasus, and a Runespoor. Some were drinking water, others playing, while a few simply rested. Each creature had its own intricately crafted nest. Sharing their space was a tiny wizard, wearing a pointed hat, living among them. Next to him stood a whimsical mushroom-shaped house, complete with a chimney puffing faint wisps of white smoke. It felt as though they were part of a real, miniature countryside. At the moment, the tiny wizard was arguing with the fire dragon: Fire Dragon: "Move over a bit, I don't have enough space!" Wizard: "I was here first. You move over there!" Fire Dragon: "You don't need that much space! Just squeeze a little!" Wizard: "Fine, fine! Take all the space, why don't you!" With an angry huff, the thumb-sized wizard stormed to the side. The fire dragon sheepishly grinned and moved closer to apologize. The Runespoor joined in, trying to mediate: Runespoor: "Alright, alright, don't fight. It's not our fault; it's just that our owner gave us such a small space to live in. If it were bigger, none of us would need to squabble." "If I were rich, I'd want a nest made of gold," the phoenix said gloomily. "This wooden house always feels like it's about to catch fire. I'm too scared to move." "ZZZ..." the Pegasus snored softly, oblivious. "Don't give the owner a hard time!" the fire dragon protested. "It's not his fault if he doesn't have money. It's not impossible to change, but doing so would effectively mean killing the current version." Hearing this, the miniature pets immediately scurried back to their houses. The Runespoor retreated, leaving only its backside visible. The fire dragon and the little wizard, who had been lying on the lawn arguing moments ago, clung to each other, trembling. Several feathers fell from its tail, and Wade casually caught them and placed them on the desk. "Keep them," Dumbledore said. "Phoenix tail feathers are incredibly valuable, whether for crafting wands, brewing potions, or alchemical work. Don't be fooled by how frail Fawkes looks; even now, its tail feathers hold immense power." "Thank you, Professor. And thank you, too, Fawkes." Wade didn't pretend to refuse out of politeness. "But in truth, he has never gone out of his way to hide his heritage." "His earliest followers, including the core Death Eaters, are all aware of his shameful origins and his Muggle father.
