Chapter 81: You will keep your hand a little longer Cadien fought with the monster for a while; with every hit on the monster, he turned its skin to silver. Noticing most of its body had been turned to silver, Cadien smirked and moved towards the monster calmly. The Hallow flung its limb towards Cadien but froze, unable to control its body. It screeched loudly, trying hard to lung its limbs forward. Cadien wasn’t turning the monster’s skin to silver for fun—he was using the metal to control its body. With a swish of his silver stick, he slammed hard on the monster, cursing it to shriek loudly, trying to use its screams to disrupt its opponent’s mind. Cadien paused, his eyes ringing as blood slid down his ears and nose. Butting his lips to stay focused, he quickly controlled the silver in its skin to spread with the help of the stick as a contact. The Hallow could feel Its death near and made a sharp cry to its second to protect it, but unfortunately, Red and the others had it completely surrounded, blocking any chance of it helping the main body. Selina watched as the monster turned into a silver statue, whose face still held a roaring expression. Exhausted, Cadien stumbled. He had drained too much power solidifying the monster. Using the wall for support, he moved closer to the monster. He touched its skin, forcing its silver-coated neck to twist like wrung-out fabric. Selina shivered, her mind snapping back to reality at his actions. Imagining herself in the monster’s place, she hugged herself, trembling violently. Cadien changed the monster back to normal, not giving it a chance to make a last move; he swung the stick heavy on its neck. "Bang!" Black, gooey blood spurted from the severed neck as the monster twitched before collapsing. The other Hallow vanished into thin air the moment its main body perished. A light drifted from the dead monster into Cadien, restoring some of his drained power. He sighed in relief. He could feel an increase in his power but not much enough to break through. In place the Monster once was, now stood a white jade skeleton and a space bag. Cadien picked up the item drop, it was useful to create weapons. A black portal formed, If one didn’t pay attention, they might not notice it. Cadien instantly knew the dungeon was spawning another, though a bit slower than usual. "Bring her here," Cadien instructed and the two space users held Selina by the shoulder and dragged her to her feet. "I can walk," Selina said, her teeth clattering with fear. They ignored her words and dragged her to Cadien. Caiden lifted her chin with his stick dripping with black blood. "It’s time to see if your ring is as useful as you claimed." The stench of decay hit her nose, making her gag—but she held it back. With blood staining her chin, she moved forward blankly. The ring began heating up as Selina got closer to the swirling portal. She took calm breaths and stretched her palm. Cadien watched, surprise flickering in his eyes as white mist poured from her hand, creeping over the portal and enveloping it. Seconds passed, and the light retracted; everyone was stunned to see the clear ground. In the dungeon, killing a monster often led to more spawning endlessly and in overwhelming numbers. Unless you escape before the monster respawns, you’re trapped in an endless fight. In the worst case—a monster wave—their numbers double, sealing your fate. Fortunately, the dungeon grew a conscience and made Monsters who attack in numbers spawn slower—ten minutes enough for the raiders to escape. The high-ranked Monsters who give rich items drop were a no-go. Before you could escape its floor with your injury another one was already born. "You will keep your hand a little longer. Who have you told of this?" Cadien asked as he stopped beside her. Selina’s heart lightened at his words, her legs giving out in relief, but her body trembled at the sight of him. "N-N-No one. The ring has bonded with me and I can’t remove it.’’ Selina forced out of her trembling lips. She hoped he understood her words and didn’t try to kill her for the ring. Cadien frowned feeling insulted. It was above him to take something that was not his without approval from its owner. It’s basic courtesy. If he was the beast, she had imagined him to be—her hands would already be in his viewing room. "Let’s go to the dungeon challenge." Cadien ignored her and said to his men. "Heal their wounds." He ordered her as he left her side, not before giving her hands a regretful look. Selina stiffened and quickly hid her hands away from his gaze. After healing Red and the others, she followed them quietly and moved towards where they had seen a hovering warp gate. Reaching the gate, Selina was unsure if the warp gate was the same as the dungeon trial one. But seeing Cadien walking in confidently, she passed through as well. The letters got to other Cities noble families and they didn’t waste a moment and sent their men towards the slum area of their Cities. When you want to start a rebellion, you have to light a spark in the poorest of areas, who are greedy for life and willing to do anything to grasp it. There, the good and the bad mix, those who blame others for their current situation and those who want to keep surviving as their recognition of being on this earth. The people paid others to spread the news amongst them. "My Lord is what you are saying the truth? Are we going to die? Will the breathfordge stop working?" The unkempt man, who was smiling ingratiatingly as he collected money, now asked with a voice filled with fear when being told of the news he was to spread. He thought It was an easy job before he knew they would all die; his eyes flashed with fierce light at the man’s quietness. ’So it’s true.’ This thought rang in his mind, his hands grasping the pouch tightly. With a nod, he turned into an alley, his figure disappearing in the dark. These repeated all around the city; those who were paid to pass the news first went to their gangs to tell them of the news so they would prepare. Knowing bloodshed was inevitable, some plotted to rob the rich in the chaos—at least they’d live in comfort before death claimed them. A tense undercurrent hummed beneath the city’s surface, masking it in false calm. While the scientist guild worked tirelessly to create the suit for those going to the top. Stone’s eyes were bloodshot as he directed the junior scientist on what to do, why researching on the breathfordge as well. "We need to get this done immediately. Also, visit your nephews and let them know that Madam Grace wants to see all three of them with their beasts," Dean said, glancing through Stone’s slightly ajar door. "Mm...I will go tomorrow; now I want to see if the poison air could be converted....those plants have cleansing properties. It might be too risky...." Stone continued with his mutterings forgetting he was speaking to Dean. Dean shook his head and left, carefully closing the door—Stone had enough on his plate. As one of the best, he oversaw every crucial project. He could only hope their hard work would one day let them live above ground again.
