After her last battle with an SSSS-ranked beast, she had a persistent joint injury, despite her efforts to treat it. She ignored the smell, her mind entirely focused on how light her body felt. Grace swung her bat with a swift, forceful motion, slicing through the air and unleashing a sharp, brisk breeze with each mighty swing. Leo and Aaron awoke to the scene; Aaron’s face instantly scrunched up, and without a word, he dashed through the wall, heading to his room for a long bath—unwilling to waste a moment covered in filth. "It’s been a while; I’ve never seen you in such great shape," Leo said, pinching his nose between two fingers. "I’ll explain later." Grace left those words and dashed out of the room as well, unable to bear the smell any longer. She felt that with each second she wasted, she might lose the ability to smell. Leo dashed out, water pounding against their ankles and splashing into the air with each movement. The butler, walking past the corridor with the chef, froze in stunned silence when they saw blurred figures covered in black stains rush past them. They blinked but saw no one. "Did you see those black figures?" the butler asked, feeling unsure whether he had truly seen them or if his mind was playing tricks on him, but the chef didn’t reply and instead pointed at the water footprints gleaming under the crystal lights. "You prepare seven meat dishes and three vegetable dishes. Add dessert, we have guests been staying at the mansion." The butler quickly changed the subject, as if nothing had happened; his job description wasn’t to be curious, but to carry out his work effectively. The chef, sharing the same mindset as the butler, nodded and stepped over the footprints as they continued on their way. ..... Time passed, and Grace, Leo, and Aaron returned, fully refreshed just in time for dinner. Eva and the rest were already seated around the dining table, waiting for the meal to be served. "Sister, I’ve missed you," Aaron said as soon as he entered the dining room and, without a glance at Ethan and Julian, he pulled out a chair and placed it beside Eva, pushing Ethan further away. It happened so quickly that Ethan didn’t react, allowing Aiden the chance to succeed. Julian’s lips twitched, fighting the urge not to laugh at Ethan’s shocked expression—his reaction was too priceless. But his joy was short-lived; he felt a pat on his shoulder and looked up to see his father-in-law’s smile, which wasn’t a smile, causing him to get goose bumps. Julian understood the cue and rose from the chair without Leo needing to say anything. ’Sigh... I can’t even sit close to my wife,’ Julian muttered softly, before sitting on the chair beside Ethan. They both shared a knowing glance before glancing at Eva, who gave Aaron and Leo a guilty look—clearly remembering the rain. Grace entered last and found a seat facing Eva. "Dear, thank you for the rain, I can feel my old injury healed and my body lighter than ever before.’’ Grace’s voice was filled with gratitude as she held Eva’s gaze. "Thank you, sister, for such a generous gift," Aaron said with a smile, ruffling her hair gently before stopping to take something from his space ring. "Here, this is my return gift. This is body silk armour, soft but can block an attack from an SSS-ranked monster." Eva’s eyes widened in surprise, not expecting to receive any gift, before she could regain her composure, Aaron dropped a pouch on the table, which rang out with a clear chime. "Here’s a million gold coins for pocket money." As soon as those words left his lips, Eva pounced on him. "Handsome brother! I love you to death!’’ Eva was overwhelmed with happiness; she returned to her seat and quickly opened the pouch, giggling as the coins chimed musically in her ears. She couldn’t help herself and took out a coin to admire under the crystal lights. Everyone watched the unrestrained happiness on her face, and Ethan and Julian started mentally calculating all their wealth and treasures to give her as a gift. Leo and Grace took it as a cue and each searched through their space bags for gifts suitable for her. Taking deep breaths, she turned the knob and, to her surprise, the door was unlocked, making her wonder if anything of value was hidden there at all. She had expected it to be locked tightly. She glanced around before entering, silently shutting the door behind her. She paused in her steps, disoriented by the thick darkness that blinded her, but after a moment, her eyes adapted to the gloom. Selina took out a dagger, gripping it tightly as she continued forward through the dark room, but a sudden loud bang made her heart nearly leap from her chest. She quickly hid behind a pillar as the room suddenly lit up. Her body trembled at the sight before her eyes; at that moment, she wished she had stayed obediently in her room. "Arghh! Please!’’ The raw pain in the man’s voice made Selina cover her mouth to stop herself from crying out, as she weakly sank to the ground, fear draining her strength.
