Chapter 274: Overlord Summons

Words : 1490 Updated : Oct 5th, 2025
Chapter 274: Overlord Summons"Even though we’ve got Overlord Aurclim leading us, and we Tidesworn aren’t afraid of any enemy... we still have to admit—Overlord Aurclim probably isn’t a match for the Inferno Overlord." Naga Swordmaster Kairos spoke slowly, his face a shade paler than usual. You could hear the fear in his voice, no matter how hard he tried to hide it. Ethan’s eyes flickered, thoughtful. He didn’t say anything, but his mind was already turning over a few ideas. Overlords were the pinnacle of power in the world of Glory Lords X—the top-tier, godlike beings that each faction worshipped like living legends. But even among gods, there was a hierarchy. Some were stronger than others. Ethan didn’t know exactly how the Overlords ranked against each other—there wasn’t a clear system for that. But when it came to Mythic Units, the 14-Tier elite troops of each faction, he had a much better sense of who stood where. If you were talking raw individual power, the top three Mythic Units across all factions were pretty clear: the Inferno’s Arch Devil, the Castle’s Archangel, and the Black Dragon from the Dragonkin. These three were in a league of their own. They had no real weaknesses—every stat was off the charts. And their specialties? Absolutely broken. Take the Inferno Arch Devil, for example. Tons of HP, sky-high attack, rock-solid defense. On top of that, they were masters of curse magic—able to cripple enemy units with terrifying efficiency. But the real nightmare? Their teleportation ability. They could blink in and out of combat at will. Show up, wreck your backline, and vanish before you could react. It made them nearly impossible to pin down. Then there was the Archangel. The Castle faction’s 14-Tier Mythic Unit was widely considered the strongest Mythic Unit in the game. In one-on-one combat, it could even outmatch the Arch Devil and the Black Dragon. Why? Simple. First, its base stats—attack, defense, everything—were right at the top of the Mythic Unit food chain. Just a hair below the Arch Devil and Black Dragon, and on par with monsters like the Ancient Behemoth and the Titan Giant. But what really set the Archangel apart was its innate ability: Resurrection. A Tier 4 Light Magic spell, Resurrection could bring back 50% to 70% of fallen troops within a certain time window—up to 100 units, as long as they were below 14-Tier Mythic level. It didn’t work on Hero Units, or on evil-aligned factions like Dungeon, Necropolis, or Inferno. But there was one exception. The Archangel could resurrect itself. It was the only Mythic Unit in the game that could do that. And if it was the only unit that needed reviving? The resurrection had a 100% success rate. So yeah—if you were fighting an Archangel one-on-one, you weren’t just fighting it once. You were fighting it twice. Good luck winning that. And the Black Dragon? Don’t even get started. It was the undisputed king of solo combat among the dragonkin. The only creature that could go toe-to-toe with an Ancient Behemoth in close-quarters ground combat—and actually come out on top. The Black Dragon’s attack, defense, and HP stats were hands-down the highest among all Mythic Units across every faction. No debate. It wasn’t just strong—it was the strongest. And it wasn’t just about raw numbers. The damn thing was completely immune to Tier 1 through Tier 3 magic. Tier 4 spells? Ninety-five percent damage reduction. Basically, unless you were wielding god-tier Tier 5 magic, you could forget about hurting it. Even the most powerful mages would take one look at a Black Dragon and nope the hell out. There was no winning that fight. Compared to monsters like that, the rest of the Mythic Units just didn’t stack up. So yeah, it made sense that Kairos believed their Tidesworn Overlord couldn’t take on the Inferno Overlord. It wasn’t pessimism—it was just being realistic. After all, odds were, the Inferno Overlord was an evolved form of the Inferno Arch Devil—the 14-Tier Mythic Unit of the Inferno faction. That thought alone sent a chill down Ethan’s spine. His whole body tensed up, and for a second, his scalp tingled like he’d just brushed up against a live wire. Just imagining someone that powerful was enough to make his skin crawl. That kind of overwhelming presence... it was hard to even wrap his head around it. He shook his head, trying to clear the image, then turned to Kairos and asked, "What about this Overlord Summons? What exactly is that?" Kairos didn’t wait for him to elaborate. He paused briefly, then explained, "It’s a war summons issued by our Overlord—Aurclim—directed at all the major rulers and monarchs under the Tidesworn banner." He glanced toward the horizon, his expression darkening. "The Inferno Overlord’s arrival has thrown the front lines into chaos. And now there are rumors... whispers that the Fortress faction is starting to make moves too. Word is, they’ve begun extending their reach into the seas." "That might be why Overlord Aurclim issued the summons—to rally all the Sea Lords and Sea Kings from across the oceans and bring them to the front lines." "Fortress faction?" Ethan blinked, caught off guard. His expression twisted into something between confusion and suspicion. That didn’t make sense. This whole war between the factions wasn’t supposed to involve Fortress. In the main world, the Fortress faction usually kept to themselves, holed up in remote jungles and wildlands—places where few dared to tread. And considering how much of the continent was covered in that kind of terrain, if Fortress were going to fight anyone, it should’ve been the Dungeon faction. Not them. Not now. So if Fortress had the time and resources to start meddling in naval affairs? That only meant one thing. They weren’t feeling any pressure at all. In fact, they were probably looking to stir the pot even more—maybe even take advantage of the chaos to make their own move. "If this were peacetime," Kairos said, his voice low and steady, "attacking the Crimsonstar Kingdom would be the same as declaring war on Sea King Maelthorak himself. First, because everyone in Crimsonstar is his vassal—top to bottom. Second, because this entire stretch of ocean? It belongs to him. Those so-called royal families? They’re just puppets. He lets them manage things on his behalf." He paused, then added with a faint smirk, "But now... things are different." "Before I came here, Sea King Maelthorak had already left for the front lines. Lord Valkarion, if you’re looking for revenge, this is your moment. With your power, Crimsonstar Kingdom doesn’t stand a chance. And right now? No one’s going to lift a finger to help them. Everyone’s too busy trying to save their own skin." "Once you wipe Crimsonstar off the map, even if Maelthorak comes back after the war, it’ll be too late. The damage will be done. He’ll have no choice but to accept it." "Unless he’s willing to go all-in and start a war with you personally. But after a battle on that scale? There’s no way he’s coming back unscathed. Hell, we don’t even know if he’ll come back alive." Ethan glanced sideways at Kairos, his expression skeptical. "You sound like you want something to happen to him." Kairos froze for a second, then let out a long sigh and gave a bitter smile. "Lord Valkarion... I’ll be honest with you. It’s not that I want something to happen to him. It’s just... I know him too well. Ever since he got injured by the Thunder King from the Tower faction, he’s changed. His personality, his methods—everything." "He’s become more violent. More irrational." "And lately, he’s been obsessed with that Kirin hero under your command." Ethan’s eyes narrowed slightly. Kairos continued, his tone grim. "That’s because the only way he can quickly regain his strength now is by absorbing the Primordial Force from another Crimson Ultimate hero of his own kind. If Overlord Aurclim hadn’t issued the Overlord Summons when he did, Maelthorak wouldn’t have sent me. He would’ve come for the Kirin himself." He paused again, then shook his head, his face darkening. "And if he finds out I screwed this up... that I lost the Soulbind Shackles—one of our most sacred relics—he’ll probably kill me on the spot." Ethan raised an eyebrow. "Alright, I get it..." He shrugged, then asked, "So how much strength does he have left right now?" "Thirty to forty percent of his peak," Kairos replied without hesitation. Ethan blinked. "That low?" He hadn’t expected Maelthorak to be in such rough shape. Thirty to forty percent of his full power? That was... honestly kind of weak. Kairos nodded. "Exactly. That’s why he’s so desperate. Desperate enough to risk turning on his own kind just to get to your Kirin hero..." He trailed off, then shook his head again, as if even he couldn’t believe how far things had fallen. ...
