Chapter 239: It was an old enemy

Chapter 239: It was an old enemyIn the alternate dimension of Blackwake Isle, the world was engulfed in roaring flames. Deep within this inferno, massive metal factories stood stubbornly against the blaze, clinging to a harsh, desperate existence. Atop one of these factories, a towering Diamond Golem, his entire body shimmering with a brilliant, crystalline light, stood tall and rigid. He gazed out over the endless sea of fire, his eyes filled with a heavy, weary resignation. "Lord Thalrun!" A Bronze Golem, his body gleaming with a dull, weathered green, scrambled up to the rooftop, his face twisted with panic. "Those damned Efreet... and the Efreet Sultan... they’re back! We’ve lost so many already—we’re barely holding on!" Thalrun, the Diamond Golem, furrowed his brow deeply. His voice was low and steady as he spoke: "Karnak, take our people and leave this world." Karnak’s eyes widened in shock. "Lord Thalrun!" "That’s an order," Thalrun said coldly, his voice cutting through the chaos like a blade. "They’re after me—after the Primordial Force of the Crimson Ultimate Hero that still lingers inside me. You and the others... you’re just collateral damage. Leave. Find another plane to live in. Maybe you’ll never make it back to the Prime World, but as long as you’re alive, there’s still hope. As for me... I’m already at the end of my road." Once, long ago, Thalrun had been a Crimson Ultimate Hero, a being of unimaginable power. But time, countless battles, and grievous wounds had worn him down. His strength had faded, and the Primordial Force within him had dwindled to a mere shadow of what it once was. They had finally found a way to return to the Prime World—a way that would have cost Thalrun the last of his power, but he had been ready to pay that price without regret. But fate had other plans. Just as they were about to succeed, the Inferno Devils—creatures from another dimension—caught their scent. And now, they were trapped. The Inferno faction had set their sights on the remnants of Thalrun’s Primordial Force. Even weakened, it was still a prize worth killing for. Worse, the Inferno faction knew their enemy’s greatest weakness: Constructs like Thalrun and his people were vulnerable to fire. So they sent in the perfect weapons—Efreet, beings of pure fire, at Tier 11 strength, and even an Efreet Sultan, a monstrous Tier 12 powerhouse. To put it bluntly, at the same level, Efreet and Efreet Sultans were their absolute worst nightmare. And this time, the Inferno faction had even dispatched an Infernal Lord—a being born from the Efreet Sultan bloodline itself. It was a death sentence. If Thalrun had still been at his peak, wielding the full might of a Crimson Ultimate Hero, he might have stood a chance. But now? Weakened, outmatched, and facing enemies that countered him perfectly? It was hopeless. And the brutal reality was already playing out. It hadn’t been long since the Inferno forces found them, but they were already on the verge of total annihilation. If they stayed, they would all die. Thalrun’s eyes hardened with grim resolve. His voice was sharp and commanding. "Karnak, gather everyone. Now. Before they break through completely. I’ll use the last of my strength to get you out of here." Traveling between planes wasn’t easy. Every world had its own laws of reality, and crossing between them came at a steep price. The Prime World was the harshest of all—so much so that even at his prime, Thalrun had struggled to breach its barriers. Now, it was impossible. But escaping to another, lesser plane? That was still within reach. And it was the last thing he could do for his people. Meanwhile, elsewhere in the burning dimension, Ethan—known as The Tidebreaker Paxton—had already led his forces into this hellish battlefield. BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! The ground shook violently with each explosion. The searing heat slammed into Ethan like a wall, making his face flush deep red. He staggered slightly, gritting his teeth against the suffocating, blistering air. "Lord of Emerald Castle, the temperature here is insanely high," The Tidebreaker Paxton said in a low, serious voice. "This environment is perfect for the Efreet and Efreet Sultans to fight in. We need to be extra careful from here on." Ethan scanned the scorched landscape around them, then turned to the man behind him. "Kyros," he called out, "can you use your Weatherweaving abilities here?" "Of course, Master!" Kyros replied confidently. Without hesitation, he shot up into the sky. With a thunderous roar, the blazing red heavens above them suddenly began to darken—thick storm clouds started to gather, swirling ominously over the inferno. "All of you, go too!" Ethan commanded, and with a wave of his hand, he summoned the forces he’d brought along: a 14-Tier Sacred Kirin and twenty 13-Tier Kirins. It wasn’t just Kyros—these Legendary and Mythic Units, the Kirins and Sacred Kirin, also possessed powerful Weatherweaving abilities! ROAR! ROAR! ROAR! As the Kirins and Sacred Kirin soared into the sky, the storm clouds thickened, spreading out across the burning world. Moments later, torrential rain began to pour down in sheets, hammering the flames and smothering the firestorm that had raged in every direction. Seeing this, The Tidebreaker Paxton’s eyes lit up. With a sweeping gesture, he summoned another twenty or thirty Kirins of his own, sending them up to help weave the storm and unleash even more rain. It wasn’t that Paxton hadn’t thought of this tactic before. The problem was, given the sheer intensity and scale of the flames in this dimension, his small force of Kirins alone hadn’t been enough to make a dent. After all, this wasn’t just ordinary fire—it was fire infused with the power of an Infernal Lord, the Efreet, and the Efreet Sultans. It was practically alive, fueled by chaos and destruction. But now, with Ethan’s reinforcements, it was a different story. SPLASH! SPLASH! SPLASH! The rain kept pouring, relentless and heavy. Under the combined might of their Weatherweaving, the raging inferno around them was finally snuffed out. In its place, the ground revealed itself—cracked, blackened magma fields, with pools of water beginning to form, rivers carving their way through the scorched earth. "Hiss... hiss... hiss..." Meanwhile, not far from where Ethan and Paxton were, deep within the sea of flames, a massive Efreet Sultan suddenly stiffened. His face twisted into an ugly scowl. "What the hell is going on?" he muttered, his voice low and grim. "This power... could it be... a Kirin army? Or even Sacred Kirins?" If Ethan had been there to hear that voice, he would’ve recognized it instantly. It was an old enemy—Infernal Lord Malphas. "My Lord!" A Tier-11 Efreet rushed over, flames crackling off his body. His eyes gleamed with a wicked, bloodthirsty light, and the ground beneath his feet sizzled and melted from the heat he radiated. This was no ordinary soldier—like Malphas, he was a Hero Unit. "There’s movement at the Prime World portal," the Efreet reported urgently. "Massive storm clouds gathering, heavy rainfall... it looks like the Kirin clan’s Weatherweaving abilities!" "I know," Malphas said coldly, his voice like a blade scraping against stone. "What should we do?" the Efreet asked. Malphas’s eyes narrowed, a flash of icy malice glinting deep within them. "Our top priority is still Thalrun and the Primordial Force of the Crimson Ultimate Hero inside him. We’ll split up. Azrak—you take a force and check out the portal. If you can’t wipe them out, stall them. Buy me time." "I’ll kill Thalrun, seize his Primordial Force, and then I’ll come find you." "Yes, my Lord!" the Efreet Hero, Azrak, bowed his head in deference. Without wasting a second, he rallied several hundred Tier-11 Efreet and Tier-12 Efreet Sultans, leading them toward the portal. It didn’t take long before Azrak’s forces clashed head-on with Ethan, The Tidebreaker Paxton, and their army. ... Follow current novels on freewe(b)novel.c(o)m
