Chapter 46: Some Real Action! The minotaur took hold of his weapon tightly and watched as Ken started spinning his chains. He knew he was going to throw them, and if he didn’t give it his all in this fight, things would get bad... very bad. ’He’s only spinning the right one. He might launch it directly towards me. I shouldn’t allow him; I should use this chance or after it to attack him from a long range.’ Ken had both attack speed and power, and he was agile beyond words. ’I cannot allow him to approach me and I sure as hell can’t be distracted.’ These were the minotaur’s thoughts. This was the plan, and all of it happened in a split second. Ken launched the chain in a straight line, aiming at his neck. ’HE IS NOT PLAYING!’ Seeing the chain coming at him like a projectile, leaving Ken’s hand as if abandoning it, he could only think of defending. *CLANK* The two metal weapons met, the chain blade and the axe. And the minotaur, upon deflecting the chain looked up to look for Ken, but... "Shit!" He got distracted by the attack, and Ken was nowhere to be found. He used his senses. He had already caught a whiff of Ken’s smell earlier; his ears worked to the max, and his legs felt for any trace of a vibration. ’The back? The right? The Right!" *CLANK* Ken had gone for his chain that was deflected and, without missing a beat, transformed it back into a string all while launching the second chain, but because of the close distance, he caught the chain from its very back, dealing damage and keeping hold of it. The minotaur in this very short span of time had to defend and also not make the same mistake, so he kept his senses up. And Ken, already knowing what he was doing, headed right for the massive figure of the minotaur. Bringing back his chain, he used the blind spot of the minotaur and jumped on the axe. Due to its huge size, he could use it as a stepping stone to jump to the sky. Just above the minotaur’s head. With his massive form, the minotaur wasn’t very agile; he wanted to catch Ken or even hit him with his axe, but he couldn’t. Thus, he did the next best thing. *ROOOOOOOOOOOOOAR* He wanted to paralyze Ken. This wasn’t a simple roar; by implementing spiritual energy into the vibration, he could cause Ken to be stunned. And with him being in the air. ’Chance!’ the minotaur almost screamed. But something was wrong... Ken had no weapon... did he transform it back? He hadn’t seen it. With the thoughts in his mind and a feeling of something being wrong, the minotaur didn’t lose this chance. He attacked with all of his power Ken who was falling down, but... ’MY AXE!’ The effort he was making caused him to be surprised in a situation he shouldn’t be in. Ken had thrown his chain in a split second when he wasn’t looking, and hooked to it were strings that held his weapon firmly, both firmly planted on the ground, locking the axe in the minotaur’s hand. And now... Ken was going to use something he had to the best of its ability. His physical strength. The minotaur was stunned, his entire body as if paralyzed, only waiting to be hit, and though he didn’t make the mistake of turning to look for the source of the problem. He only had two choices: let go of his weapon and block, or get hit. But to give up his weapon... ’I have no choice.’ The minotaur immediately let go of the axe and used his hands to protect his body. ’His strength... shouldn’t be that much, right?’ His mind suddenly played the scenes of warriors being smashed to the ground, and he began wondering if he made the right choice. Alas, a straight was already on its way, and fast! He had no way to change what was already done. *BOOOM* *THUMP* ---- "Such physical strength!" An elder had no choice but to comment. The entire crowd and those watching saw how the massive body of the minotaur was sent back a good few meters with a single punch from Ken. Now the enemy had lost his weapon and was far away from getting it... He couldn’t get any more vulnerable than this. Ken then stopped, turned to look at the time, and after seeing that there wasn’t any, chuckled and walked slowly towards the opponent’s axe. ’It hurts! How can he be so strong! He’s a human! A cultivator!’ The minotaur couldn’t make sense of what was happening. He had blocked the first chain throw; it was strong, strong enough to kill him, but deflecting it was easy. Still, it was a distraction, not a real attack. But no matter how he thought about it, Ken’s strength didn’t make sense. Did he eat drugs for breakfast? His huge, thick hands hurt like hell, and he had a hard time even moving them while he waited for Ken to deal the finishing blow anytime. A normal chain throw like the first time, and his head would have a hole in it. But nothing happened. He looked up just in time to see Ken throw his axe at him. "Get up. I don’t need to give you pointers; you know your weak points." Ken said as he waited for the minotaur to get ready again. The minotaur looked at Ken and then the axe before a smile formed on his face. "You really are our, the spirit race’s, benefactor." He couldn’t help but feel grateful. For him, pointers and advice were something he never hoped to get; he spent most of his days in the tower hoping he’d advance as little as possible. But the other towers had seniors strong enough to beat him before the spirit shouted "Start" and the newbies here couldn’t really get much out of him. In a short year or two, when he only begins to get some benefits, they’ll get too strong, and he’ll have to wait for a dozen years for the new batch to come. But there was no way he’d stay in the 4th realm for that long, and he wanted to advance faster. He had plans, he had goals, and he couldn’t accept mediocrity. For him, and other spirits, Ken was more than a benefactor; he was hope. Indeed, a man’s small favors can become life-changing actions for others. In a way, this was an example of a man’s trash being another’s treasure. No action can be seen the same by all. This way, Ken and the minotaur fought for a good hour, with the minotaur resting once or twice whenever he was too beat up to move and Ken pointing out things even the minotaur didn’t notice. Ken was enjoying using the xian liansuo for a long time and was not complaining, while the minotaur was improving way too fast. The spirits had long stopped cheering; some of them even changed to crying, and others lamented at not being in the minotaur’s place.
