Chapter 18: Becoming a Librarian Needs Skill! If this continued, Ken wouldn’t even be called a spirit path threader anymore, as it entirely defied the entire point. As stated before, the spirit path was more about connecting with nature, and cultivators were more like mortals with spiritual energy acting like a barrier that protected them; if they controlled it, they could obviously flatten a normal human easily, but that was more like a side effect. Although his status only showed strength comparable to that of an adult, although he wasn’t sure exactly how strong that was, the difference in strength he felt after testing was almost double. Which went to show how weak he and cultivators were in general. And the information he had been provided the past two days told him even more regarding this aspect. Unfortunately, aside from spirit forging, he didn’t have any technique or way to train this path or other paths, if they existed. For now he left this for later; his knowledge was still lacking, and the information provided these two days was lacking. Aside from telling him more about the world after triggering a new path, this morning it spoke mainly about the library and how he could use his time here more efficiently. "Oh, all the sought-out disciples are here. Welcome, welcome. I’m your senior’s senior, Adam Spark. I’m probably the oldest outer sect disciple here, so if you have any questions, you can come to me." Suddenly, a young-looking man appeared. "That’s if you get accepted, that is." He then added. His hair was white, his eyes golden, and the way he handled himself made the 15 disciples, including Ken, feel a sense of respect and being overwhelmed. This was like when the elder appeared on his golden king; though it was weaker, due to the close distance, they felt it even more. It wasn’t an impression; just looking at him made them instinctively respect him. Seeing his and the others’ more exaggerated expressions, Ken almost couldn’t help but grin. This was the finest piece of study material he had come across so far. *Clap* "Alright, your seniors are here, so it’s about time we start." As Adam spoke, several disciples came from different places, including Ken’s recruiter, Lu Chansheng. But Ken could care less about him; he watched as the seniors stood behind Adam and how they gazed at him and then went back to looking at how he carried himself. The calculated movement, smile, and blink; that subtle mix and seamless fusion of being carefree and deeming respect; and the shift between a happy-go-lucky guy and a senior. It made one not know how to act, but thinking that maybe, just maybe, he was easy to get along with. And then, without notice, Adam looked at Ken, grinned, and spoke. "You! You’re in; come to the back." Without so much as another word, he pointed back, and then, without giving him a second glance, Lu Chansheng, as if he knew exactly what he had to do, smiled slightly and stepped forward. "Follow me." Chansheng said. From the gate of the pagoda, the two headed all the way to a room on the back of the first floor. When the two entered the room, they closed it behind them, and Chansheng, almost unable to contain his excitement, looked at Ken. "I knew I could count on you." He slapped Ken’s shoulder before he stopped and looked at him again, as if analyzing him. "You’re pretty strong." "What’s happening?" Ken, not answering the previous and also knowing exactly what had happened, asked. "Well, Adam just deemed you worthy enough to take this job, nothing fancy, but because of you I won the bet! Today’s dinner is on me; I’m going to make sure you taste the best food this sect has to offer for its outer disciples." Chansheng said, a wide smile breaking out. Ken nodded internally. These guys were probably betting on whose recommendation would be accepted first. He knew that Adam was sharp and that any student who had the right qualities to take this job would be accepted. Seeing how he was analyzing him, Adam deemed him worthy and didn’t need to go through the other tests. Not asking any other questions, Ken just patiently waited alongside Chansheng, and not even 30 minutes later, the rest of the admitted disciples came through the door.
