Chapter 73: Michel Abraham Two days had passed since the last martial arts training session, and the landscape remained unperturbed. With the arrival of the great families, the mansion was busier than ever, and the tension was palpable. Furthermore, due to recent incidents, the tension had reached almost its peak. At the same time, two medium-sized caravans arrived at Kiran Mountain, so now the whole place seemed to be immersed in a festive atmosphere. The Great Spring Tournament. It was a grand event held in the kingdom of Aragon, where each year one of the great families acted as host. On this occasion, the honor fell to the Medici clan. The streets began to be decorated with various flowers, giving the city an even more festive air. With the arrival of the two caravans, the activity reached its peak. Back at the Medici mansion, members of the great families explored the place, guided by the young masters and ladies of the clan. Among the new arrivals was a young man from the Abraham family. He had long, silvery-white hair that seemed to steal light from the day. His face was neat, symmetrical, with well-defined features. His lips were thin. He wore a plain white suit, but he needed nothing more to command respect. His mere presence was enough. His eyes, as deep blue as gems submerged in ice, looked without seeing. There was a subtle emptiness in them, a serene indifference, as if the world around him were nothing more than an insignificant shadow. That young man was Michel Abraham, heir to one of the main branches of the Abraham family and one of the most talented young men in the kingdom of Aragon. He possessed S-rank talent and had already reached rank 7. But beyond his progress, what set him apart was his attitude: the same attitude with which one would contemplate a leaf floating on the water... without interest or emotion. "Wow, your clan’s gardens are unique. I’ve never seen flowers like this before," commented one of the young members of the Peridot family, admiring the carefully cultivated vegetation. "By the way, where are your younger siblings? The seventh, sixth, and second. I haven’t seen any of them since we arrived," asked another with an inquisitive smile. Among that group were some of the young masters of the Medici clan: the first, third, fourth, and fifth. The rest, as always, were scattered... or simply absent. "They didn’t want any visitors. The sixth sister is obsessed with magic. And the second..." Elsie, the fifth lady of the Medici clan, smiled uncomfortably. "She’s a unique case." She omitted Kael’s name. Just thinking about it was enough to make her shudder. A chill ran down her spine, but she hid it with a smile that didn’t reach her eyes. "And the seventh?" they insisted. The mood changed. Jasper, Soren, and Elsie herself frowned. Their faces hardened. As if a silent shadow had descended upon them, they refused to respond. The silence spoke louder than any words could have. The guests got the hint. They avoided pressing the issue and awkwardly changed the subject. Michel, for his part, had already distanced himself from the group some time ago. He was not one for formalities, let alone useless small talk. He began to explore the mansion on his own, walking aimlessly. He wandered through gardens, courtyards, and internal corridors. But nowhere piqued his interest. Everything seemed... ordinary. Beautiful, yes. But empty. Soulless. How boring. With that thought, he headed inside the mansion to sleep a little longer. As if nothing around him deserved his attention. The servants passing through the hallways bowed their heads slightly when they saw him. He did not return the gesture. Not out of arrogance. But out of apathy. Then, as he passed through the main hall, he stopped. There was someone there. A young man with long, jet-black hair and an ordinary face, with no distinguishing features. But his eyes... Black. Deep. Like his. Or perhaps even more so. The young man was sitting, reading a book with complete concentration. He didn’t even look up when Michel appeared. It was Kael Medici. His presence was like a stone submerged in calm waters: discreet, silent... but immobile. He didn’t need to look to command respect. The book in his hands was about the Zu. Kael hadn’t stopped studying for a single day in the last few days. Every day, he read for at least an hour. He had turned the habit into an immovable part of his progress. Michel watched him for a few seconds. He said nothing. And for the first time in a long time... he felt a slight tinge of curiosity. Kael, feeling a gaze on his body, slowly looked up from his book, and his black eyes turned to one side, where he saw Michel staring at him. One had hair as black as dried ink and a gaze that seemed to absorb light; the other had silver hair that shone with a cold glow and blue eyes like precisely cut gems. Between them, the duality was evident. They both perfectly represented yin and yang. Michel approached Kael with calm steps until he was a few inches away from him and, in a calm voice, asked: "What is your name?" Kael did not respond immediately. He stared at Michel for a moment; he knew who he was. He knew that in the future he would become a demigod, earning the title "White Death" and striking terror across the five regions. Furthermore, his biography mentioned that he had received a strange inheritance from a rank 1 Sovereign who, in ancient times, had massacred millions of people on a whim, and that period was known as "the Age of Chaos." For a moment, he considered lying to him. He thought about making up another name, perhaps one that wasn’t tied to his family history. But he didn’t have a twin brother to blame. And he wasn’t afraid. "Kael Medici," he replied calmly. "Kael..." Michel murmured, as an expression of emotion appeared on his indifferent face for the first time. It was the first time he had met someone like him. Someone who wasn’t afraid of death and looked at the world with contempt. Although he felt that they weren’t the same. Kael was different. Purer. Sharper. More real. And, for some reason, that didn’t bother him. On the contrary, he found it fascinating. But he didn’t care, because he felt that with Kael around, his life was going to be much more interesting. "Kael, make my life more interesting."
