Chapter 60: I can guess It had been raining nonstop for the past three days. The sun rose high in the sky, putting an end to the heavy rain and bringing spring back. The breath of spring was still present and stronger than ever. The weather became increasingly stable, leaving behind the sentimental breath of spring, with temperatures of 28° and 18°. At night, the pink toads and brightly colored crickets had retreated, hiding in the depths of the earth to lay their eggs. On Kiran Mountain, the bamboo trees in the Medici territory grew wildly. The grass began to change from a jade green to a much darker, more intense green. The trees had a bright, light green color that moved with the gentle breeze that carried with it the fragrance of damp earth. The endless mountains became greener and more lush. Clang, clang, clang! At the Medici mansion’s training ground, the sound of metal clashing echoed loudly under the sunlight. After a long exchange, Lydia’s sword flew through the air, rolling across the floor after a precise attack from Kael, who looked indifferent as he took a sip of water. Lydia, who picked up the sword from the floor, approached with a towel in her hand and said in surprise, "Young master, you are progressing at an incredible speed. A month ago, you couldn’t keep up with me. That’s amazing progress!" Kael said nothing, wiping the sweat from his forehead with the towel. This was all calculated; he couldn’t act suddenly and show off his sword skills. Training with Lydia was a way of slowly revealing his abilities, those that his current body could handle. He looked at his right hand, where there was a tattoo of an orange crescent moon on his palm. With a thought, he activated Moonfire Zu, and a sword of orange with bright crimson hues covered his hand. He turned his gaze to one of the mannequins on the training ground and waved his hand. A sword-like blade flew toward one of the dummies, decapitating it with a clean cut. The head, upon falling, immediately burst into flames, turning to ash. Because the mannequins were normal, they couldn’t withstand the power of Moonfire Zu. Kael waved his hand, attacking the other mannequins within Zu’s range. He could feel the power of this Forgotten Path in the present day. He remembered when the Great War of Calamity broke out; most of those he faced were Zu Masters and were extremely powerful, with attacks that shattered mountains. Now that he had studied and delved deeper into this path, he could feel that it was much better than the paths of Aura and Magic. However, from what he had read in the libraries, there were some Zu whose powers and uses were somewhat bizarre, although they were very rare. An example would be the Taisui Black Zu, which was one of these. Also, depending on their rank, the Zu had a much lower mana essence cost. I need to continue studying these Zu and increase my mastery. In addition, I have now obtained the items I needed from the caravan. Kael had been visiting the merchant caravan frequently during those days. Lost in thought, he arrived at the training ground. The butler, Jack, approached him and said: "Young master, I need you to follow me immediately. These are orders from the clan chief." Kael looked at the serious expression on Jack’s face for a moment before motioning for him to lead the way. After leaving the training ground, they stepped outside, where the spring breeze hit their faces. The stone paths, once elegant and polished, which a few months ago had been hidden under a thick blanket of snow, were now clean, with green grass and cultivated flowers growing alongside them. The air smelled like spring: fresh, damp, with a faint scent of wildflowers and wet earth, as if the entire mountain had just awakened from a long sleep. They advanced silently, moving away from the mansion. Soon they entered a cherry orchard, where the trees were covered with pink flowers. The breeze gently stirred the petals, which fell slowly, carpeting the ground in shades of pink and white. The sunlight, soft and serene, filtered through the flowering branches, casting dancing shadows on the cobblestone path. Not long after, they came upon a colossal stone structure, cubic and without a single window. Its walls were smooth and dark, as if they absorbed the light around them. Imposing and seamless, it looked like a prison; however, it was the courthouse. Every step toward it made the air thicker, as if the very presence of the building warned intruders that they were not welcome. Kael looked at this with intrigue, wondering why he had been brought to this place, although he already had a preliminary idea, having heard of the sudden disappearances of clan members. Hudson had acted much faster than he had expected. They entered the interior, where the elders sat on high-backed stone chairs next to the Medici clan chief. Everyone had serious expressions, and some even looked at him with undisguised hatred, as if they were looking at their worst enemy. But Kael’s expression remained indifferent, as if those looks were nothing more than smoke. He stopped next to Jack, who had also stood up. "My lord, I have brought the young master." Jack said in a highly respectful voice, bowing. "Perfect, you may leave." Zephyr’s cold voice echoed throughout the room. Jack bowed again and left the room, leaving Kael under the gaze of the elders and the clan chief. The elders said nothing, but their eyes spoke volumes. Judgment. Condemnation. Suspicion. Zephyr broke the silence with an icy voice: "Do you know why you have been called?" Kael raised his face. His gaze swept across the different expressions of the elders, most of whom were serious as they met his black eyes. Without changing his expression, he spoke: "I can guess." A fleeting gleam appeared in Zephyr’s eyes before his gaze grew cold once more. "You have been accused of treason."
