Strax woke up with a strong tingling in his head, his body aching as though it had been run over by a steamroller. His muscles were tense, and his mind was dazed, as if he had just taken a beating that only reality could deliver. He tried to move but felt a weight on his body, a strange and uncomfortable sensation, as if the world itself was working against him in some way.
When he opened his eyes, what he expected wasn't there. He didn't feel the warmth of his wives' bodies, that comforting touch that usually made him feel safe, even in a battlefield. He quickly sat up, his eyes trying to focus as the surroundings seemed to blur. When he finally managed to see clearly, he realized something was wrong.
A strange woman was standing in front of him. She wasn't in his bed, nor was she near any of his wives. The imposing figure stood beside the bed, her eyes locked on him. She wore a maid uniform, a black and white dress, her face partially covered by a delicate mask. The contrast between her calm expression and the uncomfortable situation made him swallow hard. This was not a casual encounter.
"You're awake," the woman said, her voice soft but firm. Her posture was impeccable, as though she was waiting for an order or fulfilling a very specific mission. There was no fear in her expression, just a calmness that Strax found unsettling.
Strax felt a wave of confusion, trying to regain his senses as his mind processed the situation. He looked around. He was no longer in bed with his wives. He wasn't even in the same room. The environment around him was decorated in a cold, austere manner, with pale walls and minimalist furniture, almost as if the place was designed to be impersonal and functional.
"Who... who are you?" Strax asked, trying to stay calm, even though his voice still carried a hint of disorientation. He didn't know what was happening, but something inside him told him this woman wasn't there to chat about the weather.
"I'm Aria," the woman replied without hesitation, her gaze fixed on Strax. "I've been assigned to take care of you during your stay. Don't worry, no one else knows you've woken up. You're still in recovery."
"Take care of me?" Strax repeated, more to himself than to her. "You mean...?" Enjoy exclusive adventures from empire
"Yes," Aria interrupted, her voice maintaining that same unsettling calm. "You were severely beaten during your fight with Scarlet. I was instructed to tend to your injuries while you slept. It seems your recovery took a little longer than expected, seeing as you're a vampire and your regeneration is... garbage."
The last sentence was said with an almost... playful tone, as if she were enjoying a secret Strax didn't know. The memory of being beaten seemed vague, like a blurred vision of a nightmare he couldn't quite recall. But he could feel every ache in his body, every bruise, every muscle inflamed. Then, he vividly remembered what had actually happened...
After they arrived, Scarlet carried Strax to her modest training room and beat him until he couldn't regenerate anymore.
The memory crawled through Strax's mind like a nightmare he didn't want to relive.
The sound of punches, the sound of restrained laughter, the sound of his body hitting the stone walls. He could feel the pain again, coursing through his bones, his muscles being squeezed to their limit, the sensation of being completely at Scarlet's mercy.
She unbuttoned his shirt with a skill that surprised him, her agile fingers sliding through the buttons as if it were a daily routine. Strax was about to protest, but she had already removed the garment and tossed it onto a chair near the door. He looked at her but, instead of resisting, simply shrugged. "You need to help me prepare for the bath, so fine."
Aria then began to pull down Strax's pants, her cold, calculating eyes unwavering for a second. Strax, on the other hand, was more surprised by how quickly she was undressing him, but something about the way she did it, so bluntly and impersonal, somehow didn't embarrass him. She seemed so focused on following the mistress's orders that Strax saw no reason to resist.
When Strax was standing naked in front of her, he finally looked at Aria, expecting some kind of reaction. She, however, didn't say anything immediately, and for a brief moment, Strax began to think she might be completely indifferent to his nudity.
However, then something unexpected happened. Aria, with a slight blush rising on her cheeks, quickly looked down and averted her gaze. "I-I... I'll prepare the bath," she said, her voice a little softer than usual, before turning quickly and walking away.
Strax watched her for a moment, surprised by her reaction. He wasn't used to seeing someone like Aria, so controlled and impassive, blush in such a subtle way.
'Fufufu, she kept her strong posture the whole time and faltered when seeing a man naked, poor thing.' An ironic smile appeared on his face, but he didn't say anything. He just turned and stepped into the bath, sinking into the warm water with a relieved sigh.
Aria was still with her back turned to him, clearly trying to maintain composure while she busied herself with adjusting the accessories around the bathtub, but Strax knew she was trying to mask her embarrassment. She would never allow herself to show weakness, especially in a situation like this, but Strax could sense that something was there. Something he didn't fully understand.
He leaned back in the hot water, closing his eyes for a moment, simply letting the sensation of relaxation take over him. It felt good to be free of pain for a while, although he still knew that his battle with Scarlet was far from over.
"You can leave, Aria," Strax said, his voice low but carrying a subtle command. "There's no need for you to stay."
Aria hesitated for a moment, but without saying a word, she gave a discreet nod and exited the bathroom. The moment she left, Strax let out a small smile...
Strax sensed the presence before he even heard her. A familiar energy, but unmistakably distinct, flooded the room, making the air around him heavier. He didn't need to turn to know who it was. The familiar touch of presence, the powerful aura that always accompanied her, caused his body to tense in alertness.
"I see you've been quite naughty, hiding in others' bathrooms," Strax said, with an ironic smile, his voice calm but carrying a provoking tone. He was ready for the reaction, expecting Daniela to respond sharply, as she always did.
But before he could say anything more, Daniela was already there, her presence taking over the room. She appeared with an enigmatic smile, a mix of challenge and amusement clearly visible on her face.
"Conceited," Daniela responded with a mischievous grin, her voice almost playing with the tension in the air. She entered the bathtub with the grace of a woman who knew exactly what she wanted, smoothly lying over Strax's body.
