The power Strax felt didn't even make sense in his current state. It was as though he had become at least twice as strong as before, especially with his newly expanded range of abilities related to his blood.
However... it wasn't just that.
"Primordial Vampire Body..." he murmured as he read his new status tab. Though it hadn't yet gained any levels...
'Why haven't I received the 100 levels for conquering the Three Sisters?' Strax wondered for a moment.
[System Response: "Belatrix Vermilion has not yet confirmed herself to be yours in body and soul. The contract of the Three Sisters will only be completed when all conditions are fully satisfied."]
Strax narrowed his eyes as he read the system message, a mixture of frustration and understanding crossing his mind.
"So that's it... the last missing piece," he thought, feeling a slight irritation. Despite everything he had already achieved, the system insisted on keeping his rewards on hold. Yet, at that moment, it hardly mattered. The power flowing through his body was unlike anything he had ever felt before. It was as though he could crush a mountain with his bare hands.
His gaze returned to his status, lingering on the newly acquired line:
[Primordial Vampire Body – A unique evolution granted by the fusion of vampiric essence and demonic-dragon physique. This body holds the potential for immortality, capable of regenerating, evolving, and adapting to extreme threats.]
It was as if the system was forcing his existence to align with something far greater than himself. He was no longer human, nor merely a dragon. Now, he was a hybrid walking among legendary monsters.
Scarlet, who had been observing Strax, crossed her arms, raising an eyebrow. Her gaze seemed evaluative, almost suspicious.
"This is... unexpected," she murmured. Her tone had shifted. For the first time, Scarlet appeared cautious.
Strax smiled—a predatory smile that matched the intense red glow in his eyes. "Surprised, Scarlet?"
The ground beneath his feet cracked as he stepped forward, power radiating from him in waves of pressure. His body seemed to have adapted perfectly to the transformation, as though he had been born for this moment.
"You really didn't plan for things to get this far, did you?" Strax said, his voice laced with amusement.
Scarlet narrowed her eyes, but a faint smirk tugged at her lips. "Interesting. Perhaps you're not a waste of my time after all."
Strax grinned back, his thoughts turning inward. 'Belatrix will be easy to convince. Daniela and Cassandra have already given themselves completely.'
"Got you!" Strax roared, striking with everything he had.
Strax froze, his victorious expression collapsing in an instant. The impact of his blade, which he was certain would land, stopped as though it had struck an immovable wall... or worse, as if space itself refused to let him proceed.
Scarlet held the tip of his sword with a single finger, her smile now twisted into a sadistic expression.
"Got you..." she repeated, her voice dripping with scorn. Her eyes gleamed intensely, and the pressure around Strax swelled like a suffocating tide.
"I-Impossible..." he muttered, trying to force the sword forward, but it wouldn't budge an inch.
Scarlet tilted her head slightly, like a predator who had finally lost patience with its prey. With a lazy motion, she flicked the blade aside as if it were a useless twig. Strax was sent flying backward with overwhelming force, his boots tearing through the soil as he struggled to regain his footing.
BANG!
The sound of impact echoed as dust rose around him. His body trembled from the sheer force he had just faced. This wasn't just raw strength—it was something beyond his understanding.
"Did you really think a little transformation would be enough to hurt me?" Scarlet asked, stepping forward. Every step she took cracked the ground beneath her.
Strax quickly stood up, his breath ragged. Adrenaline still fueled him, but now he felt something else: fear. For the first time since his transformation, he realized how far he still was from her.
"The difference is two cultivation levels, boy. It's not just about abilities, physiques, or borrowed power from your weapons," Scarlet said, smiling coldly.
"You're still a pup, Strax," she continued, her voice low but heavy with meaning. "A pup playing at being a monster."
Strax wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, gripping his swords tightly again.
"Then why don't you stop talking and show me for real?" he taunted, even as a cold sweat slid down the back of his neck.
Scarlet narrowed her eyes... and smiled.
"Careful what you wish for."
In an instant, she disappeared.
"Shit!" Strax shouted, trying to locate her, but it was already too late.
BOOM!
A punch slammed into his stomach with such force that the air was ripped from his lungs. Strax was launched like a projectile, crashing through trees and rocks before finally coming to a stop, his body creating a crater in the ground.
"Ugh..." he coughed blood, feeling his broken ribs slowly beginning to regenerate.
"That's the difference between you and me." Scarlet's voice echoed, and when he looked up, she was already at the edge of the crater, staring down at him like he was an insect. "You might have gained a few new tricks, but you're still far from reaching me."
Strax staggered to his feet, gritting his teeth. He looked down at his trembling hands and then back at Scarlet. The system echoed frantically in his mind:
[Alert: Critical injuries detected!]
[Recovery activated...]
"It's not over yet..." Strax whispered, the blood-stained smile returning to his face. His gaze was one of pure stubbornness. "I'll keep going until you recognize me."
Scarlet sighed at last, her crimson eyes analyzing him with more depth than before, as though she was finally looking beyond his bravado.
"If you survive me... perhaps, boy."
Her aura flared up again, now like a wildfire threatening to consume everything in its path. The sheer pressure bore down on Strax, making the very air feel heavy, oppressive.
"Let's see if that willpower of yours can withstand this," Scarlet declared, her voice filled with fiery resolve as flames ignited around her, scorching the ground beneath her feet.
Strax's muscles tensed, and despite the pain wracking his body, his grip on the swords tightened.
'If I want her to see me as more than just a "pup," I have to push past my limit... even if it kills me,' Strax thought, his eyes blazing with determination.
"Bring it on, Scarlet!" he roared, his aura surging wildly, intertwining the blood-red energy of his vampiric power with the draconic pressure coursing through him.
