Shut up,”
Lamp-Burning Ancient Buddha scolded.
He really couldn’t stand it and was simultaneously worried that Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva would spout nonsense after entering Mount Ling.
Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva merely smiled inscrutably.
He naturally did not forget the instructions of the Great Saint.
The Great Saint had told him that to make the people of Mount Ling obey the decree and come to meet the Supreme Honored Buddha, Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva should praise everyone he met upon arriving at Mount Ling, ideally flattering each person there.
Perhaps then, all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of Mount Ling would no longer oppose Amitabha Buddha.
Of course, this was inevitable.
Given the extent of Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva’s ‘crow’s mouth,’ he believed that at least a third of Mount Ling’s population would diminish following his advice.
Sun Wukong did not dare dream of annihilating the entirety of Mount Ling; after all, Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva’s verbal skills were not that extreme.
Those with truly strong fates could survive it.
Under the guidance of Lamp-Burning Ancient Buddha, Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva entered Mount Ling.
When the Buddhas of Mount Ling saw this Plague God, they shivered instantly, many lowering their heads, not wanting Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva to notice them.
Otherwise, the power of his ‘crow’s mouth,’ now famous throughout the Three Realms, would affect them.
“Ah, isn’t that Long Eyebrow Arhat?
How are you?
Looking at you now, it shouldn’t be long before you become a Heavenly Venerate, fiercer than the usual Great Bodhisattvas.
Impressive,”
Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva began flattering people as soon as he arrived.
“This Bhikkhuni has good potential, if she doesn’t die young, her starting point could be that of a Bodhisattva Fruit.”
“I hadn’t expected Mount Ling to have a Pratyekabuddha; such a rare species indeed, truly precious, I wish you eternal life.”
“Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, long time no see, how are you?
Seeing your radiant face, have you become a Heavenly Venerate?
Truly formidable, Samantabhadra Bodhisattva.”
“Virudhaka Bodhisattva, you’ve grown even stronger than before, truly astonishing.
Your strength is unmatched in the Three Realms.”
...
He had almost complimented everyone.
The faces of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of Mount Ling darkened; everyone knew him as the greatest ‘crow’s mouth’ in the Three Realms.
Amitabha Buddha was too careless to send such a person; was he aiming to annihilate them all?
They must warn Amitabha Buddha at some point, asking him to promise not to use Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva preemptively.
The brows of Tathagata furrowed; he had, of course, heard of Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva’s reputation.
However, he did not believe a Bodhisattva could really do much.
Tathagata said indifferently, “Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva, instead of staying peacefully in your Pure Land, what are you doing here at Mount Ling?”
Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva, smiling, said, “Tathagata Buddha, long time no see.
I thought you might have truly died.
Thankfully, you have come back to life, but please try not to feign death again, as next time, you might not be so fortunate.”
“Shut your mouth.”
The Lamp-Burning Ancient Buddha’s expression changed.
Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva, however, did not mind and merely smiled faintly.
Now he represented the Pure Land and was also the Lord of the Buddhist Realm.
Tathagata Buddha smiled faintly, motioning to Lamp-Burning Ancient Buddha to calm down, then said, “Thank you for your concern, Bodhisattva.
What brings you to Mount Ling?”
He was somewhat impatient, not wanting to waste words with Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva anymore.
Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva’s expression became serious, and he said solemnly, “Tathagata Buddha, receive the Decree of the Supreme Honored Buddha, Amitabha Buddha.”
Sitting atop the Nine-Colored Lotus Platform, Tathagata did not rise.
He just stared at Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva, neither accepting nor defying the decree, just seeing what he would do.
Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva had anticipated Tathagata’s reaction.
Indeed, that Tathagata hadn’t immediately expelled him was already a great face-saving gesture.
Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva smiled faintly, saying, “By the Decree of the Lord of the Buddhist Realm, Amitabha Buddha, Tathagata Buddha is called to present himself in the Pure Land.”
With that said, he threw the Decree to Tathagata Buddha.
As Tathagata remained silent, Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva smiled faintly and said, “Amitabha Buddha has said, please ensure that you visit the Pure Land today; otherwise, Mount Ling will be deemed a rebel of the Buddhist Realm.”
After finishing, he bowed slightly and turned to leave.
Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva could feel that after he had finished his decree, Mount Ling had grown colder.
Everyone’s gazes were like knives, filled with murderous intent.
He had a feeling that if he did not leave now, just those gazes alone could tear him to pieces.
Tathagata looked around and said with a light smile, “Ancient Buddha, what do you think?”
Lamp-Burning clasped his hands together, his expression somewhat solemn.
“I’ve already checked why there are so few beings from the Buddhist Realm visiting Buddha lately.
It’s completely because Yang Jian is blocking the way outside, claiming that Ziwei Heavenly Court has already branded our Mount Ling as rebels,”
At this point, he was somewhat afraid to meet Buddha’s eyes.
Lamp-Burning Ancient Buddha was very aware that at this moment, the Buddha must be furious.
Although he did not show it, his inner rage must be sky-high.
Indeed, Tathagata’s gaze turned slightly cold, the corners of his mouth lifting in a cold smile, he said, “Ziwei is very cunning and bold.”
The crowd dared not speak, all waiting for Tathagata to make a decision.
To go to the Pure Land or not.
If they do not go, they would be rebels.
If they go, it would be equivalent to acknowledging Amitabha Buddha’s status.
This would make rectifying Tathagata’s name much less straightforward.
Faced with such a difficult choice, it was hard to find a way out.
Considering this, Tathagata Buddha said indifferently, “I will go to the Pure Land.”
