The man was immediately unwilling upon hearing this.
"How can it only be worth 100 gold coins? Just now it cost over 9,000 gold coins to buy an Intermediate Magic Scroll, even a Basic Magic Scroll should at least be a thousand gold coins, how can you swindle people like that?"
This man was not as simple as he appeared; he was not a Mage, and he did not know the specific market price of Magic Scrolls.
Earlier, when he approached the Magic Shop, he had pretended to look around for a while, not until Yun Sheng finished the deal with a high price for an Intermediate Magic Scroll did he start to inquire.
The scroll shop owner was also displeased, he could tell by now that something about the man’s Magic Scroll was dubious.
Running a Magic Scroll Shop in Hunting Soldier Guard City, he couldn’t afford to accept suspicious goods, especially since the other party was merely an ordinary person daring to question a Mage’s judgment.
Any Mage, even if just a Magic Apprentice, knows well that there is a world of difference between Basic and Intermediate Magic.
To ascend from Magic Apprentice to Magic Knight, one merely needs to apply to join a Magic Temple, and could learn Basic Magic under the guidance of the High Priest.
The Magic Scroll the man brought over was made from the poorest quality Beast Skin, and indeed, it contained Earth Spur.
Earth Spur was the second Basic Magic skill that Yun Sheng learned.
This most fundamental Basic Magic normally isn’t pricey; 100 gold coins was a fair price indeed.
"Go on, get out if you’re unhappy with the deal, don’t delay my business," seeing the shopkeeper’s disdain, the young man was angered, but even in his anger, he didn’t dare challenge a Mage.
He grabbed the Magic Scroll and stormed out of the Magic Scroll Shop, fuming.
Yun Sheng saw this and followed him out of the shop.
When they reached a secluded spot, the man heard someone following him and became alert.
"It’s you, why are you following me?" The man turned around and saw it was the same "sucker" little girl from the shop. Knowing that Yun Sheng carried plenty of gold, he couldn’t help but harbor ill intentions.
He intended to rob Yun Sheng, but just then, Yun Sheng calmly pulled out her Magic Wand and aimed it at him, making him dismiss the thought.
"Brother, may I take a look at your Magic Scroll?" Yun Sheng had seen the Magic Scroll at the counter earlier, and for some reason, she felt that this shabby-looking Magic Scroll was not as simple as the shop owner had claimed.
Seeing the interest in his Magic Scroll, the man eagerly took out the Magic Scroll and said while doing so, "That shopkeeper’s judgment is poor, this scroll is definitely a good item, I went through a lot of effort to get it."
Yun Sheng opened the Magic Scroll and looked at it.
Upon inspection, it seemed that the shop owner’s judgment was not wrong.
The lowest quality Demon Beast Skin, it clearly couldn’t have been used to record any sophisticated magic.
The Beast Blood on it had also long since dried and faded.
Yun Sheng touched the Magic Scroll with her fingers, a flash of gold light swept across her pitch-black eyes.
A faint, almost imperceptible Magic Element seeped out from the Magic Scroll,
This sensation, Yun Sheng felt a bit familiar, it was the Dark Magic Element.
On a Magic Scroll, why is there an aura of Dark Elements? Yun Sheng wondered, but she was certain, at least on the surface, that this scroll was a Basic Earth Spur Magic Scroll.
"How about it? This is definitely a good item, with at least several centuries of history. Look, the Beast Skin is still in good condition, not weathered, and the script on it is still fairly clear," the man said, discerning some hope from Yun Sheng’s reaction.
"Uncle, this is indeed the most ordinary Basic Magic Scroll, and the magic recorded on it isn’t of much value. However, the history of this scroll is quite ancient. My father likes to collect old things, and if you are willing, I will offer 200 gold coins to buy this scroll," Yun Sheng said without showing too much excitement, glancing at the man in front of her again.
At the same time, she quietly activated her Dark Magic Soul within herself.
Once the Dark Magic Soul was activated, Yun Sheng’s sensing power for Dark Magic Elements greatly increased.
As she expected, she quickly caught a strong presence of Dark Magic Aura from the man. For an ordinary person, having Dark Magic Aura was not a good sign.
Either he was cursed by a Dark Mage or he had worshipped some Dark Demon God.
Clearly, the man in front of her was not a follower of any Dark Demon God, so there was only one possibility left: he had been cursed by a Dark Mage.
Yun Sheng noticed some golden wet soil sticking to the bottom of his shoes.
This type of soil was most commonly found beside graves on the continent. Yun Sheng finally understood why she felt the presence of Dark Magic on a Basic Magic Scroll.
Tomb Raider, this man selling the Magic Scroll was definitely a Tomb Raider.
He likely robbed a grave of a former Dark Mage and then obtained this scroll.
Yun Sheng had guessed right; this shabbily dressed man was indeed a Tomb Raider. He specialized in digging up various graves in the border area, where the garrison’s surveillance was weak.
Just the day before yesterday, he accidentally discovered a grave that looked quite substantial, but frustratingly, there was nothing of value inside, only this piece of paper that seemed useless.
In the business of tomb raiding, returning empty-handed was highly frowned upon, so out of no choice, he took the scroll.
Later, a partner with a good eye told him it was a Magic Scroll and that it could be sold for a decent amount of money at the market in Hunting Soldier Guard City.
So, he pocketed the scroll and headed to Daoye Mountain.
This journey had also cost him quite a bit of money, and he figured carrying the scroll back would be useless; 200 gold coins was already double the price.
"200 gold coins is fine then," the Tomb Raider sighed, handing over the Magic Scroll to Yun Sheng.
"Uncle, if you have some free time, go make a prayer at the Magic Temple. The business you’re in, it’s better to wash your hands of it sooner rather than later. Otherwise, one person’s calamity might affect three generations," Yun Sheng got the Magic Scroll and reminded the Tomb Raider faintly, then activated her Floating Technique and left.
Though tomb raiding damages moral integrity, it’s not a sin worthy of death. The only ones who could cleanse Dark Magic were in the Magic Temple; that was all the help she could offer.
The Tomb Raider, counting his gold coins, was startled—had this little girl guessed his identity?
Just as he was about to ask, he looked around and saw no trace of the little girl.
Could it be he had seen a ghost?
The Tomb Raider got so scared that he dropped his gold coins on the ground, and after a moment, he remembered Yun Sheng’s words, picked up the gold coins, and ran towards the Magic Temple in the city.
