"What is that thing?" Even the experienced Qin Gang failed to recognize the origin of the black crystal in Lie Rou’s hand.
"Lie Rou, stop this insolence! Are you trying to jeopardize the interests of Lie Family Mansion?" Lie Chang’an was furious and wanted to rush forward to snatch the black crystal from Lie Rou’s hand.
"Third Uncle, do not force me," Lie Rou clenched her teeth, being forced to retreat step by step.
Whispers buzzed in her ears like the bite of a mosquito, "Think of your father, whose whereabouts remain unknown, think of the miserable conditions you and your mother have endured within Lie Family Mansion these years."
Her mind roared, a flash of red light sparkled in Lie Rou’s eyes, and she threw the Black Death Crystal in her hand without hesitation.
"Boom," an overwhelming Dark Power swept in like a storm, causing a violent shake within Lie Family Mansion.
Though it was merely a Black Death Crystal the size of a fingernail, it instantly blasted a hole nearly a yard across. The force of the explosion sent Lie Chang’an crashing into a wall, coughing up mouthfuls of blood.
Despite his Dark Earth Realm Cultivation, before he could even operate his Protective Profound Armor, he felt the entire blast wave impact his body, causing a dull pain, evidently injured by the powerful Dark Power contained within that Black Death Crystal.
If that black crystal had been just a bit larger, Lie Chang’an might have been blown to death on the spot.
Xuan Crystal? The term simultaneously sprang to mind for everyone present.
Most of those present were widely knowledgeable; both Fa Xiaoyi and Xie San instantly thought of Xuan Crystal.
The Xuan Crystal rumored to be produced only by the Ruison Federation, the Crystal Stone used to make Xuan Crystal Cannons, how could such a rare and sought-after Xuan Crystal appear in the hands of a weak woman like Lie Rou?
The might of the Black Death Crystal successfully deterred everyone present, even Xie San dared not act rashly. It’s rumored that a single fine Xuan Crystal Stone can generate power enough to destroy an entire city.
In Lie Rou’s hand, apart from the Black Death Crystal she had thrown out earlier in desperation, each one was several times larger than the one used to kill the chicken to scare the monkeys.
"To think I wed a beautiful and delicate wife, not knowing that this mother and daughter could hide their secrets so deeply," cursed Qin Gang feeling unlucky. Reflecting upon it now, he still felt a chill; considering Lie Rou’s fierce determination, if he had truly forced to marry her tonight, he may not have even reached the bridal chamber before being blown to bits.
"Lady Lie, may I ask where you got these Xuan Crystals from?" Xie San had seen Xuan Crystals before, most of which were rough ore that required skilled alchemists to refine. He had never seen anyone use Xuan Crystals as pure as the black crystals in Lie Rou’s hand.
"It’s pointless to say more, today, anyone who dares to investigate Huahua’s whereabouts, I will fight them with all I’ve got," Lie Rou cautiously retrieved the Black Death Crystal in her palm.
Although she didn’t know the exact origin of the Black Death Crystals, she clearly understood the value contained within these mysterious crystals.
"If that is so, then..." a strange call emanated from Xie San’s mouth.
"Bang," below Lie Rou, the floor tiles exploded, and rocks of varying sizes smashed towards Lie Rou, just as she was about to defend, a dwarf-like silhouette burrowed out from behind her.
It was a member of the Remnants, ugly and dwarf-sized like a mole, naturally cultivating a bizarre Mystical Technique called Tunneling, which allowed them to hide under any earthy or stony surface.
When the dwarf emerged from the ground, he swung his large palm, striking Lie Rou’s back.
Lie Rou was caught off guard and, having no Dark Power herself, was struck by a palm and sent flying with her body crashing through the debris, heading straight for a two-person thick stone column.
She, a mere woman and not versed in Mystical Techniques, was speeding like a bullet at this moment; had she really smashed into the column, her head would undoubtedly be split open, and she’d perish on the spot.
The crowd was unprepared, and even Qin Gang, intending to leap to her rescue, was too late.
Yue Jinghua cursed under her breath, her figure about to rush down when Qing Pu’s unhurried voice reached her ears, "Don’t panic, the rescuer has arrived."
In the direction of the stone column, a bizarre scene unfolded: beneath the newly glazed vermilion column, prepared for the celebration, several cracks burst open, and a vine swiftly grew, quickly wrapping a sturdy green vine around the column. The vine then extended a few tendrils, entwining Lie Rou who was hurtling towards it, and securely caught her.
"Ah---" Witnessing this dramatic turn of events, those inside the castle had yet to recover from the shock when a scream caused Xie San and his remnants to abruptly pale.
From the chest of the dwarf assassin emerged two furry limbs, and with a hiss, he was torn in half.
A wolf spider the size of a watermelon blocked the doorway, its scythe-like limbs piercing the dwarf assassin to death. The Black Death Crystals he had just snatched were also taken. Even more shocking, after taking its prize, the wolf spider turned around and let out a sharp cry.
"Who is it?" Xie San hadn’t expected there to be a hidden killer move behind Lie Rou.
Seeing one of his remnants fall, Xie San’s anger intensified, his murderous intention surged, and the Ghost Face Axe in his hand glowed even redder, poised to pounce and kill.
Before he could move, the air suddenly rippled, and a meteor-like Dark Energy Arrow shot towards him.
Xie San flipped in the air, dodging the Dark Energy Arrows, the Ghost Face Axe in his hand creating a gust of wind, knocking down several waves of arrow energy.
Suddenly, several figures flashed out from behind the column where Lie Rou was.
The one in the center had a round face like a Jade Plate, a dab of vermillion on her forehead, and a pair of eyes that seemed too mature for her age – she was Lie Rou’s adopted son, Yue Chen.
Yue Chen clapped his hands gently, and the vines wrapped around the column lowered their bodies, setting Lie Rou down.
Lie Rou’s face was flushed, but from her appearance, she seemed unharmed.
Seeing the people behind her, she was both shocked and nervous, stuttering, "Chenchen, Hongling, and Miss Sha, how come you are here?"
Lie Rou’s face still showed her unsettled fear as she glanced back, only to recognize two familiar faces.
Shalman smiled warmly at Lie Rou, and behind her, four wolf spiders of the same size poised to strike.
Hongling, holding the stringless Jade Bi Bow, shot a series of arrows, like meteorites piercing the air, accurately stopping the remnants’ members who wanted to step forward to offer support.
"Lady, Miss said everyone from Jingxin Courtyard must stick together, we can’t lose a single person," Hongling declared, her Jade Bi Bow now targeting Xie San.
"I promised her I’d protect you," Yue Chen swallowed the rest of his words as he appeared, his bright eyes shifting to look towards the top of another wall.
