Every Dark Practitioner harbors an extraordinary passion for power, and Liu Xi is no exception. It was in the history books of the Inner Court where he stumbled upon this secret. Since then, the Inner Court has repeatedly sent people, including spies into the Outer Court. Many have broken into the Cultivation Room, but aside from Ao Beizhan and another student who entered the cultivation room, everyone else has left unscathed.
After entering the Cultivation Room, they found nothing but some murals on the walls.
Upon hearing this rumor, Shalman stood countless times before the Cultivation Room, yearning to explore it.
She doesn’t blame the dean; on the contrary, she quite understands why Qiu Chuzi refuses to let Yue Jinghua enter the Cultivation Room.
Ao Beizhan is an orphan, a war-foundling brought back by the dean from the borders of the Dragon War Empire in his early years, raised into adulthood by the dean himself.
Seeing his own protégé transform from a blooded man into a soulless killer devoid of humanity, Qiu Chuzi’s emotions are unfathomable to anyone.
The Cultivation Room grants formidable power but at the same time devours one’s conscience.
Shalman was aware of all these matters, yet she still resolutely arrived outside the Cultivation Room.
"Jinghua, I can’t watch you die," Shalman helped Yue Jinghua off the Thunder Snake, looking at the door of the Cultivation Room, she whispered, "You once said that miracles are created by people."
"Shalman, you really came secretly after all," with a hint of gravity, Qiu Chuzi appeared behind her. Shalman was startled; she specifically chose around midnight to covertly bring Yue Jinghua here, yet Qiu Chuzi had long been guarded against her.
"Dean, tonight, I must enter the Cultivation Room no matter what. Going inside, there’s still a fifty-fifty chance," Shalman quickly recovered from the shock and with a sharp whistle, the Thunder Snake, being telepathically connected to her, coiled its tail and wrapped up Yue Jinghua, ready to crawl towards the Cultivation Room.
Qiu Chuzi disappeared from his spot and reappeared with his old pipe suddenly pointing at the Thunder Snake, which had its massive body frozen in place, as a thread of fear flashed within its brown serpent eyes. At this moment, before it, it felt as insignificant as an ant, "Shalman, with this little snake, you can’t bother me," Qiu Chuzi said.
"Dean, my apologies," Shalman leaped up and stood atop the Thunder Snake’s head, between her delicate jade fingers, a streak of light appeared.
"Teng teng teng teng teng," colored smoke began to rise from the ground, and five Colorful Spiders, each in different hues, crawled out.
Each spider was the size of a watermelon, with their eight legs shining brightly.
The one in the lead, with its red fur and swollen belly, suddenly spat out a burst of flame, rising fiercely from the ground and igniting a five-zhang tall wall of fire.
"Five Elements Escape Spider, Shalman, when did you start breeding such formidable Fourth-stage Dark Beasts," Qiu Chuzi flipped back to the ground, half his eyebrows singed by the intense fire wall.
Five Elements Escape Spiders, hatched from ghost-faced spiders with the individual attributes of metal, wood, water, fire, and earth, inherently possessing the Earth Escape Profound Skill, appearing and disappearing without a trace. With the five spiders deployed, their power multiplied.
"Good, the Outer Court has finally produced a talent following Ao Beizhan, a pity though, little girl, that you think you can trap me with five crawlers, you underestimate me too much," Qiu Chuzi took a deep puff from his pipe, his cheeks inflated, and with a whoosh, he exhaled a gust of wind.
The smoke instantly pierced through the fire wall, tearing open a small path.
As Qiu Chuzi tried to break through the fire, the flames suddenly extinguished, and several water arrows shot out. Qiu Chuzi cursed under his breath and quickly retreated backward.
With his foot finding nothing but air, he plummeted downward without stopping. Turning his head, Qiu Chuzi wore a bitter expression, "Grandmother, disciples these days have less and less respect for their elders."
Under Qiu Chuzi’s feet, a fissure had appeared, and from within that crack, the grotesque ghost-faced spider was waving its hairy, slender arms, greeting him.
Qiu Chuzi grunted, his left and right feet treaded, halting his descent, as he tapped the tobacco pipe into the void, his body already floating in mid-air.
Shalman gritted his teeth, lifted his hand, and the Five Elements Spiders spat out strands of silk, adding several lines across the sky like infrared beams, blocking Qiu Chuzi’s path.
"A futile struggle," Qiu Chuzi sighed lightly, the pipe in his hand glowing red as a surge of Dark Power transmitted forth, severing all the spider silk.
Qiu Chuzi’s movement technique was several times faster than Shalman’s. Once he had escaped the entanglement of the Five Elements Spiders, he was about to prevent Shalman from barging into the Cultivation Room. Seeing escape was hopeless, Shalman shouted loudly: "Thunder Snake."
The Thunder Snake swung its tail, and Yue Jinghua, who was wrapped around its tail, was flung like a stone toward the main door of the Cultivation Room.
"Fooling around," Qiu Chuzi snorted, his worn clothes billowing as he reached out barehanded, and Yue Jinghua who had been flung was stopped in mid-air.
It was at that moment, the door of the Cultivation Room, which had been silent this whole time, suddenly swung open.
"Crack crack," a bone-chilling sound issued from the dark room.
Almost simultaneously, Shalman and Qiu Chuzi ceased their actions and looked toward the Cultivation Room.
Qiu Chuzi’s lips turned pale and ashy, his eyes revealing a sense of panic as he muttered: "Ten years, it has been ten years."
In the not so big Cultivation Room, the walls on which patterns and inscriptions were originally carved, gradually lit up, transforming into the likeness of a Fierce Beast’s head.
A black mist seeped out from inside.
"Boom," the mist grew stronger and finally transformed into a hurricane that burst through the millstone.
A black wind swept out from the Cultivation Room.
The black wind swiftly struck the unconscious Yue Jinghua. Qiu Chuzi, startled, gathered his Dark Power once again, but the strength of the black wind was not weak; it flung Qiu Chuzi, Shalman, and the Thunder Snake out with its whirl.
The black wind was both cold and sharp; even with Qiu Chuzi’s high cultivation level, the chill reached his bones upon being touched by the black wind.
What was most terrifying was that wherever the black wind passed, vegetation withered and the Dark Energy within one’s body was instantly absorbed and consumed.
Shalman, with his cultivation level, directly passed out, while the Thunder Snake fared somewhat better but was still listless and lost clarity of consciousness.
Qiu Chuzi’s cultivation was formidable, barely retaining two tenths of his Dark Energy; when he rushed back, the door of the Cultivation Room closed with a "bang."
Throughout the process, it seemed as though someone had been lurking in the shadows, taking rash action while Qiu Chuzi was caught off guard.
How could this happen, Qiu Chuzi looked at the unconscious Shalman, then at the peaceful cabin, waves of unease flooding his heart one after another.
The same scenario, Qiu Chuzi who had experienced the drastic change ten years ago stood stunned on the spot, Yue Jinghua entering the Cultivation Room was exactly like the incident with Beizhan entering the Cultivation Room back then.
Recalling the scene of Ao Beizhan emerging from the Cultivation Room, Qiu Chuzi let out a deep sigh.
