Yue Jinghua breathed softly through the narrow slits that had appeared at both sides of her ears, resembling the gills of a fish, which flapped open and closed as she dived deeper with each kick.
She was now at a depth of nearly fifty zhang in the sea, and what facilitated her smooth descent was not the breath-holding method of the Demon Clan as Jue Shang had instructed, but a special Spiritual Treasure she applied.
A dim blue pearl, which Yue Jinghua was currently holding in her mouth, was none other than the Mermaid Blue Pearl she had obtained after killing Lihua Xue in Dan Demon Tomb earlier.
Yue Jinghua had also dived using the method taught by Jue Shang, but soon she discovered that this breath-holding technique could only take her down forty or fifty zhang at most, making it impossible to enter the deep-sea areas, let alone the location of the Undersea Windmill Workshop at a depth of three hundred zhang.
On the contrary, this Mermaid Blue Pearl that Yue Jinghua carefully treasured proved to be very useful at a critical time.
Although it was unclear how Lihua Xue came by this Mermaid Blue Pearl, the most likely possibility was that it was crafted by her so-called Thousand-Handed Yama uncle.
The Mermaid Blue Pearl, formed from the tears of a centennial merfolk, could heal wounds when applied externally, and when held in the mouth, it could help a person grow "Mimetic Gills" in the deep sea, allowing one to breathe freely no matter how deep they went.
However, there was a significant drawback to the Mermaid Blue Pearl: once it was held in the mouth, one would be unable to use Dark Techniques, otherwise the seawater would rush in and choke the person to death.
After emerging from the Thousand Swords and Ten Thousand Intentions Formation, Yue Jinghua began holding the Jiao Lan Pearl in her mouth, observing the situation from the deep to the shallow exile sea on the seabed.
To her disappointment, she quickly found out that part of what Jue Shang said was true—the upper sky and the bottom of the Senluo Sea were impossible to fly over or traverse.
She once used a Fourth-level Dark Pill as bait to lure the Gold Eater Worm into the high sky, but as the creature flew up, it encountered an invisible gas and was struck so hard it saw stars and nearly fell into the sea to be drowned, lamenting its fate.
Unable to fly, Yue Jinghua attempted to probe the range of nearby seas; the area where Jue Shang was imprisoned extended about ten sea miles in both directions.
Once beyond ten sea miles, attempting to go further would result in a strong current pushing back, forcefully bringing one back no matter how many times one tried.
This indirectly confirmed that what Jue Shang had said was not false; the only way to leave this exile sea was to dive into the seabed three hundred zhang deep and break the seal of the Undersea Windmill Workshop.
As for the Nanhuang Ring, Qing Pu still hadn’t managed to remove the Spiritual Imprint on its surface.
Yue Jinghua no longer had the patience to wait, as the day of the Imperial Alchemist examination approached.
This time, she intended to dive a few zhang further.
After entering the fifty-zhang zone, the original water area became a continuous series of Sea Ridges, and on the outer edge of the sea ridges, there was an intestine-shaped Sea Cave.
As she approached the Sea Cave, Yue Jinghua heard what sounded like an earthquake—a roaring noise.
Inside the Sea Cave, the Sea Bat Eel was rolling around, with nearby sea creatures swiftly swimming away as they approached.
Untreated Devil Crystal Powder is highly toxic.
If no timely detoxification method is applied, the longer it stays in the body, the toxicity is enough to cause excruciating pain akin to insect bites every day, making the creature’s life a living hell.
The Sea Bat Eel has been Poisoned for several days now, with each day’s severe pain making it wish for death.
"Goodness, quite resilient, are we? If it were another Dark Beast, its guts would have rotted through long ago," Yue Jinghua lay on the Sea Ridge, her form crawling in the sand, as inconspicuous as any sea creature.
As long as she stayed still, the Sea Bat Eel could not detect her.
After a moment, the agonizing roars gradually subsided.
From the sea cave, a massive dark flat head emerged.
The movement technique of the Sea Bat Eel was noticeably duller than before; it hesitated for a moment but couldn’t resist the pain brought by the toxins inside its body.
It swam slowly towards the seafloor.
Yue Jinghua was delighted and followed it slowly into the deeper sea.
Strangely enough, the seawater, which should have been cold to the bone, was gradually becoming warmer as they descended.
The dim seafloor began to brighten up. Some underwater creatures started to appear around them.
Sensing the presence of the Sea Bat Eel swimming by, those sea creatures quickly scattered away.
After descending about two hundred more fathoms, the seafloor finally came into view.
In front appeared a Windmill Workshop emitting a white glow.
It was a white windmill about two stories tall, with its vanes moving slowly under the force of the water.
This was a large-scale Dark Power Array. As the windmill vanes moved, it shone with light that covered about a mile radius of the seafloor, breathing a vigorous new life into the area.
A myriad of creatures, such as hermit crabs and little fish, gathered around the Windmill Workshop, seemingly enjoying the benefits brought by the light.
As the Sea Eel approached, many underwater creatures were startled and darted away in all directions.
Yue Jinghua had not expected the Windmill Workshop at the bottom of the sea to be like this—it was clearly a healing ground for marine life.
But there was one strange scene amongst them: among all the sea creatures, a certain type of snail did not move at all upon detecting the approach of the Sea Bat Eel.
The snail was about the size of two fists, its shell covered in dazzling reddish-brown rings that stood out against the dark blue water.
The Sea Bat Eel also seemed to hold some wariness towards it, carefully bypassing the snail.
When the Sea Bat Eel swam into the Dark Power Array, a white light glowed, and as it bathed in the light, it let out a joyful screech.
A layer of black toxin was excreted from its body. Clearly, the poison from the Devil Crystal was being continuously weakened by the white light.
"This is bad," Yue Jinghua thought, not expecting the Windmill Array to have such an effect. If she waited any longer, the poison she had struggled to administer would be neutralized.
Once the poison from the Devil Crystal was resolved, it won’t just be her, Yue Jinghua, at a disadvantage—even ten of her would not be enough for the Sea Bat Eel to abuse.
Yue Jinghua gritted her teeth, took a deep breath, and instantly removed the Mermaid Blue Pearl from her mouth, before kicking several times with her feet.
A crescent-shaped ripple immediately formed in the water, and like an arrow shot from a bow, she darted towards the Sea Bat Eel.
