Chapter 124 - Not the welcome home I was expecting

Chapter 124: Chapter 124 - Not the welcome home I was expecting After some pleasurable days, we come back to the royal capital. Sadly, those were too few days. I haven’t fully recharged my Yaci energy meter yet. "One month..." "..." "I mean, it’s not that I don’t care—" "I know, Aurea. You don’t need to overexplain yourself. You love her, and that’s beautiful. I have no complaints." "Really?" "Yes..." Her eyes seemed to be focusing somewhere far away as she answered my last question. Is she being true to herself? Or is she actually hurt and hiding it? "Lovelace?" "Huh?" "Is something the matter?" "Ah. I’m sorry. I feel like there’s something going on." She adopts a stance that screams ’ready to fight,’ so I prepare myself as well. We are in the gardens of my mansion, which is where that flower we used connects to. Now that Lovelace pointed it out, the place is eerily silent. I close my eyes and expand my magical sense. Yes, there’s definitely something out of place here. There are some people inside, and they aren’t my mothers. Actually, those two are nowhere to be found. And the mana signature I pick from those guys... Church people. One is using an aria based on the Light element right now, and only the Church uses those spells. They seem to be searching for something, maybe taking advantage of our absence. We arrived right at the perfect moment. I open my eyes again. "I take on those on the first floor, and you take those on the ground floor?" "Perfect." As Lovelace melts into the shadows of the late afternoon, I quickly cast a strengthening spell and jump to the window of my room, which is closed. Welp, it seems that I’ll have to buy a new window later. I arrive inside my room, throwing pieces of shattered glass all around, startling the two robed guys that are there. "Who—? Ungh." The first one is down before he can finish saying the question with the obvious answer. I used a simple taser aria. I don’t want to risk breaking anything inside my own room. Also, I want the guys to be alive and well enough to answer my own questions later. So, I waste no time before launching myself to the second one and tasing him as well. It’s all so fast that I hit the second guy before the first fell to the floor. They won’t wake up so soon. The second one was in front of my open wardrobe and holding one of my panties in his filthy hands. Disgusting. Utterly disgusting. I watch his face a second longer so I can remember him later. I’ll make sure to interrogate him personally. "High Bishop, I found something here. This journal might be useful!" High Bishop? Where did I hear this title before? No matter, the voice came from my mothers’ room, so it’s probably the diary of one of them. For the guy to find it useful, it might be Lillian’s. Not a chance in hell I’ll let the Church have it. I run to the door that leads to the hallway, and I see several Church workers there, hurrying to my mothers’ room. No, you won’t. The moment I was about to charge on them, a huge noise came from below, like an explosion. What is Lovelace doing? "What’s that?" "Hey, look that brat! Isn’t she—?" "Aaaaaaaah!" There are too many of them for me to take them using only the taser aria. As we are in a corridor, a single lightning bolt takes care of all of them. I run to the room to take on the guy who found the journal, while more noises of battle come from below. It seems that Lovelace is finding some resistance there. As soon as I enter the room, a bolt of pure light welcomes me. It hits me squarely in the chest, throwing me against the wall of the hallway. I manage to recompose myself before even hitting the wall, and the moment my feet touch the floor, I’m already launching myself forward towards the priest that is in front of me. The guy has priestly robes that are of a higher quality level than most of the others I encountered in this building so far, but still not as fancy as the ones used by the bishops. As soon as the guy sees me clearly, he screams and turns tail to flee. Stupid, there are no doors there. Wait, what? He jumps through the window to the garden below. But he isn’t me, of course. He is injured by the glasses and lands on bad footing, falling to the floor. I jump after him, landing over his body as he screams again, a true scream of terror. Who is this guy, so afraid of a little girl like me? "Excuse me, little priest, but I take this." I take back the notebook he was clutching to his chest with both hands, and his wailing only worsens. "Gods, what are you? Have you never even touched a woman before? What are you so scared of? Your injuries were brought by yourself alone." He is looking at my face like he is seeing his worst nightmare. Geez, I’m not that ugly. Actually, I don’t think I’m ugly at all, at least in this life. "Y-you... you..." "Yeah... me, me... whatever, have a nice dream." I tase him out cold and turn back to the mansion. Well, that makes two windows already, only counting my side. Some of them are already running away from the mansion, trying to escape. Some of them are even carrying valuables from my home, and I spot among them a guy with very fancy clothes, probably the High Bishop. Well, the mansion has a very nice front garden, and you guys are trampling on all the plants. I feel for all the plants, but coming to the open like this actually makes my life easier. It’s been some time since I developed this aria, and I’ve never had a chance to test it against living beings over such a big area of effect. Hehehhehehe "FEEL THE WEIGHT OF YOUR SINS!!!" I cast the aria silently, of course. The shout was just for performance. I increase the gravitational pull of all of them tenfold. All of them immediately fall to the ground and can’t get back up, as if a heavy mountain were pinning each one of them down. Hehehehehe. The aria is a success. Sadly, every single one of them witnessed me casting ultra-secret spells, so they can’t ever speak a word about it. So it’s better to make sure they won’t utter any kind of word ever again.
