Chapter 48: College Life

Words : 865 Updated : Sep 24th, 2025
Summer vacation in the U.S. gave students a chance to experience society. You could travel or work, as long as you learned something new. Students often used these few months to experiment and create new things. Bill Gates and Steve Jobs are examples -- they learned what school couldn't teach and then started their own businesses. Even though exams were scheduled, for William White, they were child's play. He didn't worry about such tests then, and he certainly didn't now. He easily scored straight A's. American universities focused on practical experience. Starting a business or filming a movie could earn you credits. If you needed to take time off for such ventures, your professor would happily agree. Bring a few students along, and the professor would be even more pleased. The script for Police Academy was now a film school staple, which showed just how much the school valued this student. After happily handling the registration, William White was waiting for school to start again in three days. William White was conflicted about whether to live on campus or at home. In his past life, after leaving school, his luck with women ended too. Women in the real world were straightforward. If you weren't dating with marriage in mind, it was just a raw exchange. School girls were different. It could be their most indulgent time in life. Almost anything went as long as you weren't a jerk. It would be unlikely not to find a girlfriend. Once you're part of society, you can't act the same way. Girls' personalities suddenly became proper, which was infuriating. After careful consideration, he decided to commute. His popularity was too high; trying to live a carefree life was a pipe dream. He was terrified at the thought of ending up in someone's memoir. Since he was considering living in Los Angeles permanently, renting a villa was no longer suitable. He needed a larger house. He was past his financial crunch, and spending big was the way forward. ... Walking through the familiar campus, he felt great. Even though school hadn't started, it was lively. A group of cheerleaders was full of youthful energy, and it made William dizzy. William White realized his silly mood was acting up and decided to leave quickly. He picked up the pace, confused about when he became so thirsty. It wasn't good. He also noticed changes in his body. Not only had his hearing become sharper, but his strength had increased significantly. Staying this way was fine. He didn't want to turn into the Hulk. Superheroes were fictional. In real life, someone like that would end up in a lab for research. Seeing a cute guy run away made the girls laugh. Teasing unsuspecting guys was their standing activity. "Hey, Julie, you were too much, that guy just ran off," a girl with striking eyes laughed. "Rubbish, it's all Lisa's fault. Hey, what year do y'all think that guy's in?" "Julie, you're failing as a captain, y'know. That guy ain't just some cute face. He's a big writer, director, and the youngest billionaire." "Dammit, I should've guessed. Curse you, Lisa, no wonder you were batting your lashes. Tryin' to snag him all for yourself." The group of girls laughed and joked, their allure intimidating. Luckily, the guy had already dashed away. College girls, especially cheerleaders, represented the most vibrant and beautiful. Usually, these girls were every guy's target, but William White had no plans to try. These gals weren't pushovers. They'd definitely brag about conquests. Don't doubt it; college girls were that open, especially the cheerleaders. Believe it or not, boys weren't the only ones gossiping about girls. The girls' topics were even crazier, leaving boys with no choice but to beat a hasty retreat. ... Back at his Beverly Hills mansion, William White felt parched. He downed half a gallon of milk to calm down. The young guy chuckled to himself, realizing his silly personality would take years to improve. On a U.S. campus, typically the quarterback was the most popular guy, and the cheerleader captain was the top girl. She might not be the prettiest, but she was the cleverest. After his fill of milk, his husky wasn't satisfied and started whining for attention. The silly dog was clearly spoiled and not yet howling like a wolf, which would be amusing. "Hmm, haven't you been weaned already? Why do you still need milk?" Seeing the pet nudging him persistently, William gave in, letting it continue drinking. This silly dog was spoiled, refusing dog food and expecting steak or even lobster daily. Folks really treat their dogs like kids, letting them do whatever they want. Few people had huskies. Among large dogs, Labradors and Golden Retrievers were common. There's no record of these breeds biting kids, making them good companions for children with autism. School was about to start soon, but there wouldn't be many classes. By December, it'd be winter break again. ***** https://www.patreon.com/Sayonara816.
