Chapter 117: Loans

Words : 1075 Updated : Sep 30th, 2025
Morgan Stanley was still waiting for news, but what they didn't expect was that the local Japanese conglomerates were far more aggressive. Just a video game and comics were enough to make them envious. They were well aware of the value of these two things. Since William White needed funding, why hesitate? Investing quickly was the sensible choice. The local Japanese conglomerates certainly knew how profitable this guy was; all that money was in their stock market. Just calculate the market value, and you'll know. Communicating with the Japanese conglomerates went smoothly. With cheap loans available, William White had no reason to refuse. He just didn't want to borrow yen. That stuff was risky; with an exchange rate of 250, if he borrowed, he'd be a fool. The Japanese were pleased with this foreigner who could speak a bit of their language. At least he wasn't as arrogant as traditional Americans. In modern economic activities, it's impossible not to have loans. Securing a cheap loan proves one's strong repayment abilities, akin to the company's or individual's worth. ... "What? A billion bucks? Have the Japanese lost their minds?" "The details aren't too clear yet, but the interest rates are very low. I really don't understand what these Japanese are thinking." "Tsk, send someone to investigate." ... "You've worked hard these past days. Today, there's nothing much to do, so you can sleep in a bit." "Sorry for the trouble." "Mm, be good and sleep a bit more." William White's physique was indeed excellent. The past few days had exhausted Suzuki Meiko; during the day, she had to accompany White to entertain the CEOs, and at night, she had to serve the overly excited boss. This morning, there was another overtime session, and even a Japanese girl couldn't keep up. Actually, she didn't know. She was considered a cherished possession. William White was very careful, avoiding speeding and sudden starts. If he truly let go, it might require major repairs. ... After finishing his bath, William White left the spacious bedroom. A group of attendants stood respectfully at the door. They all had their jobs, and this was just a repetitive task. Fortunately, this tycoon wasn't difficult to serve and didn't have any bizarre special requests. As his status improved, the number of people serving him seemed to increase. Anyway, these arrangements were made by Fulton, and he had no plans to interfere. "Master, are you going to the company today?" "No, Fulton, these days have been exhausting. I need to take a break. If there's something important, they can come to the house." "Okay, Master. You need to take care of your health." "I know." After breakfast, it was natural to take the husky out for a stroll. Ever since returning from the farm, this silly dog had been very excited. If no one watched him, he'd always be up to mischief. Luckily, there was no antique furniture here, or it would be disastrous. This one's too fat. To prevent him from eating himself to death, he's not given random food anymore. Animals are best eating their own food for health. ... After securing a massive loan, William White didn't feel it was anything significant. The profit projections from the gaming and comics companies were indeed excellent, and the software company was very promising. Using these three companies' stock as collateral wasn't a problem. If he needed more loans, the conglomerates would happily support him. Of course, they weren't totally benevolent; if William White messed up, they'd seize the opportunity to reclaim the companies back to Japan. Japanese estimates for company valuations followed specific methods, similar to those learned from Americans. As for future projections, there was a difference in judgment. Americans didn't consider such profits sustainable. The Japanese, however, had a contrasting understanding. They saw great untapped potential. The current state of comics and video game consoles was just the beginning, and the software company had substantial potential too. These were high-quality assets. Most important was the cash flow of these companies. The figures were indeed staggering. The company's debt situation was also good, with no excessive expenditures. The loan wasn't even used by the companies. That was a good strategy. After all, whether it was Disney or NBC, they considered them trash. It would be great if William White could maintain his magic touch. If he messed up, they wouldn't be polite. William White was qualified to play the capital game and wasn't foolish enough to directly use money to buy any company. That would be a senseless move. His spree of buying in Japan left many dumbfounded. Fortunately, these folks weren't idiots and soon figured out his motives. If nothing unexpected happened, these stocks and properties would absolutely be used as collateral again. William White was more aggressive than they anticipated. Once he acquired a company, he might very well use the stocks as collateral again. Such a chain ship-like structure looked promising, but there was an issue. None of the links could have problems. If the pledged assets depreciated, banks would turn their backs immediately. This was already the most prudent approach. He didn't trust Morgan Stanley's integrity, though the Japanese conglomerates weren't saints either. But Japanese stocks were doing well, and the real estate market was good too. His involvement wouldn't change anything drastically. ... Morgan Stanley now had a headache. Their whole plan was toast. He wasn't interested in their financial plan. The reasoning was simple: their valuation was completely off. He could obtain more money with a much lower interest rate elsewhere. "Boss, their comics are hugely popular in Japan. They sell out in two days. The demand for game consoles is even scarier. Our rough estimates suggest Japan will need around five hundred million dollars for arcade machines next year." "Hmm, so William White could earn at least one hundred million." "Probably more. They're eagerly anticipating three new games this year. The current popular ones don't fully utilize the gaming platform's capabilities." "What on earth is Atari doing? Can't they reverse-engineer it?" "I'm afraid not. They can't use this platform. The chipset is with William White, along with heaps of patent licenses." ***** https://www.patreon.com/Sayonara816.
