B-rank supernatural power users, before the first one awakened, could certainly clinch the championship in the Olympics.
Of course, they can't now.
But it's two different things, current public competitions like the Olympic Games simply don't accept supernatural power users, even accidental awakenings on the field lead to disqualification and forced withdrawal.
The captain of the 13th Reconnaissance Squad, B-rank Dark Elemental Psychic Blake, went quickly and returned just as fast; 500 meters ahead, a cave collapse had occurred, turning it into a dead end.
The team on-site now followed the rescue leader, Thunder Mage God Kanje, instead of Blake.
With so many ability users, what's there to be afraid of? One wave of the hand and dig!
Without large machinery, digging through with manual labor would probably make ordinary people cry, but it wasn't too much trouble for the various ability users, just a matter of spending more time.
Two hours later, they finally broke through again.
The unknown enemy was ruthless enough to collapse over two hundred meters in one go.
The moment it was cleared, a pungent smell hit their faces.
"Toxic gas!"
The person standing at the very front wobbled a few times then collapsed weakly, clutching their throat.
Who would have thought that behind the thick rubble blocking the passage, there would still be a cloud of poison gas lingering, that even ability users, caught off guard, would not fare much better than ordinary people after exposure.
"Quick, put on your gas masks! Wind-type ability users and wind series mages, disperse the toxic gas and bring over the poisoned people." Thunder Mage God Kanje, holding the highest command on-site, ordered loudly.
Gas masks and antidote potions were standard issue, basically one for everyone.
Hanna Gagar pulled Chen Fei aside and, while activating her Special Ability, said, "Don't get too far from me."
A stream of air faintly encircled the two of them, isolating the spreading poison gas and simultaneously dispersing it towards the passageway behind.
Putting aside the concentration of toxicity, even without neutralizing the poison, just lowering the proportion of air content to a certain level would allow the body's own metabolism to easily combat the toxicity, to the point where it might not even trigger an allergic reaction.
"Chirp!~"
Little Birdie stood on Daddy Chen Fei's shoulder, not needing any protective gear against the poison at all.
It was a Light-element Magical Beast with inherently high resistance to poisons, capable of rapidly detoxifying even after being poisoned, through the Light Healing Technique.
The howling airstream lasted for a good half hour before sensors reported that the residual toxicity in the air had dropped below the safety threshold.
Those who were initially poisoned managed to detoxify successfully, but their respiratory systems and skin that had made contact with the gas still showed some swelling and ulcers, and their overall spirit had greatly diminished.
Pure Light Sparrow Xiao Jiu lent a hand, and after a few casts of the Light Healing Technique, the affected areas visibly returned to normal.
The Blue Star Global United Defense Committee had prepared Light System Casters and conventional medical power for this operation, but numbers were limited and they couldn't be sent down to face dangers, so they all stayed above ground on standby.
Chen Fei's Little Birdie was the only Light System casting power underground, living up to its nickname of Little Band-Aid.
Seeing Xiao Jiu not only unexpectedly release the second-rank "Light Burst Flash," but also steadily maintain "Illumination Technique" without forgetting the Light-series spell "Light Healing Technique," which Pure Light Sparrows were most adept at, the gaze of many shifted towards it, less envious and more gentle.
The obsequious flattery made her skin crawl and numbed her mind.
How could there be such shameless people, ready to say anything and everything.
"Ah?!"
Chen Fei was startled and confused – what was he not allowed to do?
Was admiring such a feat also not permitted?
Could it be that Manager Hanna was not pleased with the kind-hearted Mage God Kanje showing off his grandstanding skills?
Most probably that was the case.
In truth, those people weren't stupid either; having finally met a generous big shot, a few more fawning phrases didn't cost anything. If the big shot accidentally let something slip through his fingers, like those Psychic Power Potions, wouldn't it mean an instant gain?
Compared to the benefits received, what's wrong with calling someone 'Daddy'? Such a cost-free advantage, what's it really worth?
Waving away the residual glow of lightning from the tip of his Magic Wand, the Thunder Mage God bowed to his surroundings and humbly said with a chuckle, "Ha ha, you flatter me, you flatter me!"
He wasn't a Yan Huang Descendant, and his gesture felt somewhat incongruous, but it didn't prevent others from seeing it as especially stylish!
The captain of the 13th Reconnaissance Squad, a B-ranked Dark Element Psychic code-named Blake, explored hundreds of meters ahead, then turned back to report.
"We can move on!"
The menacing Mutated Insects had all turned into charred remains and were long dead.
The larger the creature and the more developed its muscles, the less it could withstand electric shocks. Once the current passed through them, the muscles would become paralyzed. Even the largest of them would be unable to move, shivering and trembling, stripped of the ability to act.
Even more so, considering it was a powerful spell cast personally by a First Rank Earth Mage God, the Mutants that were not even Magical Beasts and lacked magical resistance could only rely on their physical bodies to withstand. If they survived, they might be left half-dead, barely hanging on for a bit longer.
If they couldn't withstand it, they would end up like the scene before them, reduced to piles of charred remains, crackling crisply underfoot and provoking an extremely comforting sensation, almost therapeutic for anyone with obsessive-compulsive tendencies.
Not a single Mutant or rhinoceros cockroach could be seen over a kilometer away, only traces of their presence scattered within the passageway.
In fact, the Mutants that swarmed over just now, though seemingly countless, had only occupied over five hundred meters of the passage. The full force of the First Rank Thunder Series Spell "Undying Thunderbolt" cast by Kanje left the Mutants with no chance to escape and led to their total annihilation.
If it were not underground, let alone in a cave passage with limited space to dodge, this spell might not have been able to unleash such devastating power.
After traveling some distance, they suddenly entered a spacious cavern. They were standing halfway up, and there was a platform of a few hundred square meters at the exit, which was only a very small part of the whole space.
"Tweet tweet tweet tweet!"
The Pure Light Sparrow chirped incessantly, attempting to dispel all darkness, as Light Orbs from the Illumination Technique rose, adding up to those previously released, providing a faint glow to some parts of the space.
Eighteen Light Orbs were already Xiao Jiu's limit.
The 13th Reconnaissance Squad and the surface reinforcements finally had a chance to light up their illumination equipment. Dozens of bright beams sliced through the moist haze, spreading light further into the cavern.
A chill ran up everyone's spine.
