Chapter 82: Falmouth City (2) Tony smiled awkwardly. "I would love to work for you, but..." He paused, staring at Arthur, who waited patiently for him to finish. Even after the mercenaries took over, they didn’t touch the world tree’s fragment—until a certain wandering traveler appeared. She was beautiful, impossibly so, and she was more powerful than they could comprehend. Not only did she defeat Prince and his mercenary group, but also the mercenary king who came to visit. Then she gave them one task: Make the condition of this town horrid so if someone comes from another region, they would notice something wrong. Me. Arthur sat on one of the chairs in the tavern. ’It does sound like Nathira, alright?’ he pondered. ’Did she always have her memory and somehow knew I would come searching for her?’ It was indeed something only Nathira could think of. To her, Arthur came before the world or any concept like kindness. So it did make sense that she would threaten and enslave an entire town if it meant leaving traces for him to follow. Arthur lifted his gaze to Tony’s group, who were still kneeling without the control of dragon tongue. "Is there anything else?" Sweat formed on Tony’s forehead as he hesitantly continued. "You see, boss, after the strange woman appeared, the first boss, the mercenary king, left the city, and the second boss, Prince, refused to come out of his room, too scared of the lady with crimson eyes. So presently the city is overrun by crazy mercenaries who only follow their desires." ’Why does it have to be Prince?’ In the normal timeline, Prince was meant to be the son of Ellie’s nanny, who liked Ellie since she was small. Because of this, he trained hard to become a knight. However, when their Dukedom was attacked, he fled and returned after everything was over, only to see Ellie still alive. He exhaled. ’At least I know where Nathira is.’ He glanced through the shabby inn. ’Is it really okay to just leave things like this?’ Arthur was no hero. Actually, he didn’t like heroism one bit. But Nathira had still made these people’s lives a living hell because of him. And the reason why the evil part of the mercenary group had gone rogue was because she had defeated their leader and left them without a head. Plus, he had already decided to take care of Sylvia while they sorted out their emotions. So even though his love for his sixth wife wasn’t as deep as what he felt for the other five, he was still going to do what she would want. Arthur turned to Sylvia, who wore a grim expression. She slowly turned her head to him, and he smiled, causing her features to soften. Standing to his feet, he addressed the mercenaries. Yes, he was going to help them for his wife’s sake, and even if they weren’t female allies, having a few extra helping hands wasn’t that bad. "I will help you liberate your city." All their eyes turned to him like he was a savior. He then continued. "However..." That singular word erased the reverence from their eyes briefly. "...all of you have to come under me." He smiled, extending a hand. "Though I’m not too keen on having male allies, having the biggest mercenaries under me won’t be that bad." Tony stared at the outstretched arm and smiled, taking it in a firm grasp. "Then I’ll have to thank you beforehand, Boss." All the mercenaries stood, then bowed their heads so low it almost touched the ground. "We greet the new boss," they all said in unison. Arthur narrowed his eyes thoughtfully. ’This is the perfect chance, isn’t it? A chance to find and bring her to my side.’ Someone who, because of the reset of the world, never created her organization and was one of the greatest talents in the world. If the names and actions from the past did trigger something in them, then it would be possible to get her under himself. The number one of Moonlight Dusk, Cherry. Arthur grinned, his hand resting under his chin. "From today onward, you shall be known as Moonlight Dusk." The men all lowered their heads even further. Even Mary, who was near the counter, bowed her head too. Amelia, who stood beside Sylvia, leaned against his arm. "That’s Unnie, right?" Arthur nodded without glancing to his side. "If it wasn’t Nathira that caused the mess in the first place, I couldn’t have gone this far." Amelia looked up at him. "Well, I’m happy you did go this far." Arthur looked into her eyes while she continued. "So what are we doing first?" The main reason Arthur was going to save Falmouth was so he could find Nathira, and because Sylvia wouldn’t be happy if they did otherwise. But there was another reason. When Arthur still played games back on Earth, there was a character who always helped him in almost every route. She was kind-hearted, and Arthur could say that she was his game crush. The only offspring of the main world tree: Eira Yggdrasil. Arthur parted his lips and whispered something to Amelia. "You might be getting a new younger sister."
