Chapter 65: Pleasure House Many minutes had gone by, and Jeffrey introduced numerous tourist spots. By tourist spots, it was actually some pleasure houses, or more commonly known as brothels. "Um, Jeff, are there any other interesting venues besides these?" Leonard furrowed his brows and asked. "Huh, are the women not to your liking, Sir?" Confused, Jeffrey scratched his head. He occasionally glanced at the slave he owned, which was Claudia, and then back to the ladies standing by the balcony, waving their slender hands and handkerchiefs to welcome customers. "They are similar to the pleasure slave you owned." He then said righteously. His eyes were on point and couldn’t possibly be wrong. "..." Silent, Leonard finally recalled there was another nickname for the Trade Crown. Besides the market trading, there was also the name Pleasure City. Leonard wanted to shift the topic, but couldn’t do it himself personally. It was beneath his status, so he discreetly signaled for Mirelle to chime in. "The Boss didn’t come here for pleasure. He has Claudia to warm his bed at night daily." Mirelle scoffed and demanded, "The boss is here to establish a new network and promise me a hefty sum once the task is completed. So, let’s stop with the brothel browsing and get to the main attraction." "But this is the main attraction aside from slaves." Argued Jeffrey, who subtly avoided eye contact with Mirelle. Instead, he remained attentive to Leonard as he explained, "Wealthy merchants, whether they are certified by the Merchant Guild or not, loved to come to these pleasure houses for business transactions. They get high and pleasured while discussing multiple transactions." Just when Leonard was about to give a response to such a statement, a commotion suddenly broke out. "No, please don’t force me to sleep with them." A woman’s cries echoed loudly. Soon, they rushed out of a building, their clothes somewhat ripped apart as they darted to the open street. Unfortunately, they couldn’t balance themselves and tripped over, coincidentally landing somewhat close to Leonard’s side. In the meantime, a bottle of perfume crashed to the ground, with some of the liquid content splashing on Leonard’s pants. And due to the close proximity, Leonard was able to see the woman’s appearance clearly. She appeared to be in her early 20s, youthful and beautiful. But contrasting such an appearance was her expression of distress, panic, and fear. Before Leonard could comprehend the situation, two uniformed men came out of the building where the woman had been. "Hmph, you damn whore! How dare you try to escape when a customer is in the chamber waiting!" One of them cursed aloud. "The gall of you to say we’re forcing you when your drug addict father sold you to our brothel. If it weren’t for the fact that a virgin sells a lot and the customer wants a clean body, then we would have used you already." The second person chimed in and scoffed. The commotion gradually increased in tension, but the people in the street no longer bothered to stick around. It wasn’t that they wanted to avoid trouble and be implicated, but it was that they lost interest. "Another annoying whore rushing out to make a scene." "These whores should just stay quiet and use their mouths for sucking." "It’s whatever. Low-class whores like them are so uncouth and ignorant." "How unsightly of them to ruin the beautiful scenery of the city." Men in the streets appeared annoyed by a similar commotion, whereas women in the streets held a disdainful gaze at the lowly whores. "This kind of scene is common, so there’s no need to worry much, Sir." Amidst the commotion, Jeffrey laughed heartily and explained the situation to Leonard in hopes that he wouldn’t worry. After all, such a scene was common in Velastra, but might not be in other areas. Nodding his head in understanding, Leonard glanced at the woman on the ground with a calm expression. He was debating what suitable options were available to him. Meanwhile, the woman noticed his gaze. She didn’t request his help because she could tell from his clothes that he was a merchant. Thus, she thought he was only leering at her exposed parts. She hurriedly covered up her ripped clothes and wanted to get up to run. It was just a pity that the trip had inevitably ended her attempt to flee, granted that the two uniformed men had already arrived at the scene to capture her. "Still want to run away, you damn whore?" One of them cracked their knuckles and seemed ready to perform some sort of punishment. The second man licked their tongue maliciously. "Once this whore gets used, we can enjoy her in succession. I’ll make sure her legs go weak so she can never escape again." When their remarks continued to escalate in a disgusting manner, they finally ticked off Leonard. Not even he dared to be so outrageous and blatant. "Pardon my interruption, but what do you think you’re trying to do?" Leonard stepped forward and intervened right when the man was about to take custody of the woman. "Sir?" Startled and alarmed, Jeffrey didn’t expect him to intervene. ’Could he not be a real merchant?’ Jeffrey thought. He couldn’t help but wonder if he was a fake. No real merchant certified by the Merchant Guild wouldn’t understand the implication behind his intervention. He went ahead to explain many pleasure houses, not just to describe the beauty of the courtesans and whores, but to emphasize that their connection was very deep. Jeffrey believed any certified merchant would understand the subtle meaning without much clarification. So for Leonard to behave in such a manner, Jeffrey was truly baffled. Naturally, Leonard also understood the implications of his current action, but he had already come up with a legitimate excuse that befitted that of a cruel and ruthless merchant. "Sir, please do not interfere with our pleasure house’s businesses." One of the uniformed men raised their hand and hoped that he could back off. "Who wants to interfere with your business?" Leonard snorted coldly and lifted one of his legs up. "This whore just smeared my pants with her low-quality perfume. Did you think she could just leave after ruining my expensive clothes?"
