But after saying that, he added another sentence: "By the way, why does it feel like your 488GT3 is lacking power on the track? Normally, a 488GT3 shouldn’t accelerate this slowly. Do you want to ask the technicians to check it for you?"Qin Miao immediately realized Leclerc misunderstood, but Qin Miao didn’t explain, just smiled and gestured towards his car, saying: "Just take a look at my car and you’ll understand."
Leclerc, curious as he was, leaned over to Qin Miao’s car, and upon closer inspection, wow, the 488GT3 had a full interior, and even had a roll cage. There was a thermos cup in the cup holder, a pink cushion and a pair of women’s slippers in the passenger seat—clearly, no weight reduction was done, but rather added some extra weight.
Leclerc asked in amazement: "Did you...install a complete GT3 aerodynamic kit on a regular Ferrari 488?"
Qin Miao nodded with a smile: "And my car is registered with the relevant authorities in Italy, so it can legally be driven on the road."
Leclerc asked the question that everyone who knows Qin Miao modified his car always asks: "Isn’t Ferrari against private modifications?"
"It was modified by the racing division." Qin Miao laughed.
Upon hearing Qin Miao say this, Leclerc was tempted too.
Should he also throw his car over there for a modification? He heard that Ferrari has been upgrading the 488GT3 aerodynamic kit lately.
Even though his pista differs from the regular 488 at the front, installing an aerodynamic kit after some modifications should be no problem. And maybe add a widebody kit...
But before Leclerc could think further, he heard Qin Miao say with some regret: "But my car can only be driven in Italy, other European countries are out of reach."
Leclerc:...Well, maybe not then.
This was the first time he saw a regular sports car fitted with a GT3 aerodynamic kit, so Leclerc eagerly asked: "Can I try your car?"
Qin Miao naturally had no objection; they had sparred a few rounds at the track, and Qin Miao’s itch was satisfied. Now he was curious about what kind of timing Leclerc might achieve at Fiorano with his car, and if he could break his fastest lap record with it.
"Of course." Qin Miao agreed readily.
After hearing this, Leclerc got into Qin Miao’s car and accepted the keys that Qin Miao handed over.
Once inside, Leclerc suddenly asked: "Do you want to try my car?"
Qin Miao glanced at his 488 pista and shook his head with a smile: "No need, I have a pista too."
Leclerc looked at Qin Miao with some surprise; having a 488 and a 488 pista, it seemed Qin Miao truly admired the 488’s design philosophy and had feelings for Ferrari.
No wonder Qin Miao is highly regarded by the Ferrari executives; compared to those interested only in profit, Qin Miao, who acted mostly based on personal preference and had a natural affinity for Ferrari, was more likely to earn their trust.
"Alright, what’s your fastest lap time driving this car?" Leclerc asked as he started Qin Miao’s car. He had been trailing behind Qin Miao for a while, and even though he was indifferent, he was still somewhat frustrated, wanting to redeem himself with lap time. After all, as an F1 driver, it was a bit embarrassing to be slower than an F2 driver on the track.
As for unfamiliarity with the car potentially leading to a worse performance than Qin Miao, Leclerc didn’t consider this.
This was the absolute confidence of a genius in their skills and car sense.
Even if the first few laps weren’t great, Leclerc was confident he could improve his time as he became more familiar with the car.
Qin Miao originally thought the same, but considering it might seem overly confident to suggest it, he kept quiet. Since Leclerc brought it up himself, Qin Miao was happy to watch him drive his car to see what kind of lap time he could achieve.
"1:10:204, I remember very clearly."
"Got it, watch me." Leclerc flashed a charming smile with dimples.
"Good luck." Qin Miao watched as Leclerc drove away with his car.
...
While Leclerc was out driving the car, Qin Miao didn’t stand outside under the scorching sun but turned and entered the Fiorano track’s maintenance area rest zone.
Here he could watch the track, with plenty of food and drinks available.
Since it wasn’t a formal dinner or a social dance party, there were quite a few eating the snacks and drinks laid out on the table.
Upon arriving, Qin Miao picked up a bottle of cola from the drinks table, grabbed some largely untouched fried chicken, and took a box of ice cream from the freezer.
After picking his snacks, Qin Miao found a spot by the window where he could see part of the track, put his items down, and began eating on his own.
Qin Miao was pretty much known within Ferrari, being recognized wherever he went.
And seeing the snacks Qin Miao was holding, several who recognized him but weren’t familiar with him were secretly surprised.
A racer’s body is much like an athlete’s; it needs to be in an extremely healthy state. Otherwise, a race could leave someone too exhausted to even leave the car.
