Just as the live director noticed, Qin Miao had Frankie play some music for him again.
...
As soon as the starting lights changed from three to two, Sui Wentao, who was just holding an umbrella for Qin Miao, took the umbrella off Qin Miao’s monocoque and gave Qin Miao a thumbs-up gesture.
Qin Miao nodded in response and then started his car’s engine, keeping the RPMs up to warm it up.
During this process, Qin Miao didn’t forget to glance at his right rearview mirror, since due to the headrest, Qin Miao couldn’t see Zhou Guanyu at the right rear without it; if he wanted to see Zhou Guanyu, he could only do it through the mirror.
Coincidentally, at that moment, Zhou Guanyu was also looking at Qin Miao. Both being racers, their eyesight was naturally better than ordinary people, and they soon noticed each other watching.
Qin Miao raised his eyebrows, while Zhou Guanyu had a hint of provocation in his eyes.
The two are friends and have spent quite a bit of time racing simulators together in private.
Qin Miao, not being the type to hold back, didn’t hide the fact that he struggled in rainy conditions when racing on simulators with Zhou Guanyu.
After securing second place, Zhou Guanyu originally thought of trying to stay close to Qin Miao to see if he could manage a runner-up position behind Qin Miao, as for overtaking...
To be honest, Zhou Guanyu really didn’t have confidence in overtaking Qin Miao under normal circumstances without violating any rules. This guy’s defense skills are so strong it’s like he’s a machine, not a normal human.
Every time you attempt to overtake, he manages to accurately position himself in a spot that makes it extremely uncomfortable and nearly impossible to pass.
Over time, Zhou Guanyu instinctively felt that overtaking Qin Miao by normal means on the track was almost impossible.
But today is different! The rain put a debuff on Qin Miao.
Because of the rain, Zhou Guanyu saw hope of surpassing Qin Miao. If he could win the race in this rainy battle, Zhou Guanyu felt he could boast about it in front of Qin Miao for a year.
After all, showing off depends on the person.
With Qin Miao’s skills, winning in the racetrack isn’t surprising. Even like last week, winning the main race and also capturing the sprint race wasn’t shocking to Zhou Guanyu. Once he knew Qin Miao was on a new set of soft tires, it seemed perfectly reasonable.
However, if there came a day Zhou Guanyu beat Qin Miao to win the championship, it would mean something different.
It’s like a student who usually performs reasonably well suddenly acing an exam and surpassing the class genius, taking first place. Such a feat is worth boasting about for a considerable time...
Qin Miao was completely unaware of Zhou Guanyu’s rebellious thoughts. He didn’t have mind-reading powers to understand Zhou Guanyu’s intentions through his gaze.
As the team staff all exited the track, the five red lights gradually went out, leaving just one, which soon extinguished as well.
Under the lead of the safety car, Qin Miao galloped out of his starting spot, with Zhou Guanyu following, and Tsunoda behind him.
After catching up with Qin Miao, Zhou Guanyu was bewildered, and it wasn’t just him; every other driver besides Qin Miao felt the same.
Because the rain was heavy today, the water spray kicked up by full wet tires was immense, and Zhou Guanyu couldn’t clearly see the road ahead in the mist, relying only on Qin Miao’s rear flashing red indicator lights and the scenery on both sides to judge his current position.
This is just the warm-up lap, it’s hard to imagine if Zhou Guanyu will even be able to spot Qin Miao once the F2 race begins in earnest with full speed and more considerable spray.
Since there was water on the track, the safety car was continuously leading the team around the track without starting the race.
One reason being the rain was excessively heavy, making a track accident likely if the race commenced.
Therefore, the organizers let the safety car lead a few more laps, intending to wait for the rain to subside before deciding when to start the race.
This time could also be used to drain some of the standing water off the racing line.
We all know that wet weather tires have tread patterns intended for handling rain on the track surface. As the tires roll over the ground, the water on the surface is channeled into the tire treads.
And as the tire moves forward, the water in the treads is splashed backward.
If a section of the track sees a lot of traffic, the water on that driving line is reduced because the rainwater there has already been driven over by several cars, with the water being carried away or pushed aside by the tires.
However, after approximately seven laps with the safety car, the rain showed no sign of decreasing. Just as the safety car reached the T7 position, a red flag appeared on the track.
Upon hearing the red flag notice through his TR, Qin Miao initially thought some novice made a mistake while tailing, skidding off the track causing a major accident.
After inquiring, he learned that weather monitoring indicated the rain would intensify approximately 15 minutes later. For safety reasons, the race was called off, and everyone was to return to the pit lane to wait for the rain to stop...
Rekindling memories of the legendary yellow-white-world rain-stopped-no-race Grand Prix.
Due to the red flag, they couldn’t enter the pit lane and were only able to queue within the pit entry lanes.
During the red flag wait, Qin Miao decided there was no point staying in the car and getting drenched by the rain.
