Just as Qiao Yuxian said, when you put your mind to it, efficiency is really high.
With a framework and content in mind, her typing speed was incredibly fast.
In less than an hour, Qiao Yuxian finished her writing.
After finishing, she showed off to Gu Yanjing. She deliberately pushed the computer in front of Gu Yanjing to let him see, scrolling through each page with the mouse.
Gu Yanjing realized that she had already written this in her mind long ago; she was just too lazy to actually type it out.
"You spelled something wrong," Gu Yanjing suddenly said.
Qiao Yuxian’s proud little expression froze, her hand paused, and she quickly took the computer back to check.
She finished looking through the whole page but didn’t see any misspelled words.
She looked at Gu Yanjing: "Where’s the mistake?"
Gu Yanjing looked at the computer without speaking.
Qiao Yuxian leaned over the desk, her little head blocking the computer, staring at him.
Gu Yanjing’s expression remained unchanged as he looked at her.
Qiao Yuxian squinted her eyes: "Gu Yanjing."
Gu Yanjing’s hand went around the back of her head, placing his palm on her other ear, and his fingers touched her face: "Sit properly."
Qiao Yuxian didn’t move, watched him for a while longer, then snorted before sitting back down.
Once seated properly, she sent her project proposal to her advisor, her peripheral vision still on Gu Yanjing.
A few seconds later, while Gu Yanjing was replying to an email, his arm was suddenly nudged.
His fingers landed in the wrong place, resulting in a typo.
He turned his head to look at Qiao Yuxian.
Qiao Yuxian was also looking at him, and said fiercely, "Oh, made a mistake?"
Gu Yanjing’s eyes narrowed, looking scary with severity.
"Hmph." Qiao Yuxian swung her head, giving him the back of her head, completely unafraid.
Gu Yanjing: "......."
Seeing her turn her head not acknowledging him, Gu Yanjing watched her for a bit before continuing his work.
As soon as he typed two more characters, Qiao Yuxian’s hand reached out again, nudging his arm.
Like a mischievous little kitten paw.
Gu Yanjing made another typo.
When he looked at her, she just gave the back of her head again, ignoring him.
Blatant revenge.
Gu Yanjing watched her for a few seconds again, sat upright, deleted the typos, and continued working.
Then Qiao Yuxian’s hand reached over once more.
This time, before she could touch Gu Yanjing’s arm, Gu Yanjing suddenly moved, grabbing her mischievous little paw.
"Ah." Qiao Yuxian exclaimed softly, trying to pull her hand away, but couldn’t.
Her little head finally turned, looking at him, trying hard to pull her hand away.
Gu Yanjing continued looking at the computer, holding her hand with one hand and replying to an email with the other.
"Where did this little devil come from," Qiao Yuxian babbled while struggling, "Let go of me, or I’ll take care of you."
Gu Yanjing looked at her, squeezed her hand a little, and said: "Behave."
Facing his gaze, Qiao Yuxian instantly behaved, though her little expression still looked a bit fierce.
Bold enough to act fierce, not daring enough to make trouble.
Gu Yanjing glanced at her, then handed her his phone.
"What for?" Qiao Yuxian looked at his phone.
"Buy clothes," Gu Yanjing said gently in three words.
Qiao Yuxian blinked, tilted her head, and asked him: "Using yours?"
"Mm." Gu Yanjing rubbed her hand again and let her go.
Qiao Yuxian held the phone with both hands, leaned closer to look at him, and reminded him: "Using your phone means spending your money."
"Mm." Gu Yanjing glanced at the computer.
Qiao Yuxian’s smile was hard to suppress: "I must remind you again; my spending capacity is quite high. You should carefully consider this; you still have a chance to back out."
"The Gu Family can’t afford you?" Gu Yanjing replied lightly.
Qiao Yuxian: "......"
Why did she bother to remind him?
Now, she’s been hit by the words "Gu Family" with a face full of money.
Of course, they could afford her. Even if her spending capacity increased by a hundredfold, even if there were a hundred of her, they could afford it.
Thinking this way, Qiao Yuxian suddenly felt a twinge of jealousy towards the wealthy.
Unlocking his phone, she went on the website to start picking out clothes.
Afterward, Gu Yanjing became a payment tool.
Every now and then, his thumb would be pulled for fingerprint payment.
Mr. Gu had initially wanted to give her the payment password, but after being pulled by the hand twice, he dismissed the idea.
Qiao Yuxian looked at clothes seriously, quietly, yet her body wasn’t too settled.
At times she would rest her head on her arms over the table, at times hug her legs with her chin against her knee, at times move her chair close to Gu Yanjing, tilt her head, leaning against his arm.
Deeply engrossed in browsing, suddenly, a phone rang.
It was her phone ringtone.
Qiao Yuxian sat straight, looked towards the direction of the sound.
Gu Yanjing also glanced in that direction, then took the phone out from behind some files and handed it to her.
Qiao Yuxian’s head sprouted a little question mark.
"Su Qi retrieved it from the police station," Gu Yanjing did not explain why the phone was not returned to her.
Qiao Yuxian looked at the incoming call; it was Qin Xia.
She took the phone, saying, "So there was a police report?"
Up until now, she hadn’t asked how Gu Yanjing had found her, or why he had been so alarmed.
"Someone saw you being pulled into a car, picked up the phone, and reported it to the police," Gu Yanjing explained simply.
"Oh." Qiao Yuxian watched the "Xia" character on the phone sway back and forth, "Then I really should thank them."
"Mm," Gu Yanjing replied.
Just before automatic disconnect, Qiao Yuxian finally answered the call, and immediately, it was Qin Xia’s enormous laughter.
Mocking laughter.
"I heard from Liu Zhou that you were kidnapped by a scalper organization, hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha...."
The voice was so loud, and Gu Yanjing was so close that he heard every word.
Gu Yanjing watched as Qiao Yuxian’s face sank and ruthlessly hung up.
The familiar scene played out once again.
Qin Xia called again, and Qiao Yuxian repeatedly hung up.
Finally, after receiving a substantial transfer from Qin Xia, she answered the call.
"My dear ancestor, calling you really costs a fortune," Qin Xia said.
"You could choose not to call," Qiao Yuxian replied.
"That’s not an option. It’s such a good chance; I have to mock you a bit." Qin Xia laughed and said, "I heard Gu Yanjing locked down the whole Capital City, intending to turn it upside down."
Qiao Yuxian looked at Gu Yanjing.
"Although it was quickly lifted once you were found. So it didn’t cause much attention," Qin Xia dragged her tone, "Wow. You’ve got Mr. Gu wrapped around your finger. I still worry about your safety every day. Fearing Gu Yanjing might strangle your little neck."
Qiao Yuxian: "...... Is my neck really that fragile, easy to break?"
"Your neck isn’t fragile. But you’re too unruly," Qin Xia said, "Gu Yanjing looks like someone who enjoys peace, surrounded by few words, cold and deep. Honestly speaking, he’s the kind of legendary killer demon, cursed with a doomed marriage; I think you’re in danger every day."
"Am I really that unruly?" Qiao Yuxian suddenly asked Gu Yanjing.
Gu Yanjing listened to the person on the other end slandering him and then replied to Qiao Yuxian: "Nope."
With those two words, Qin Xia suddenly fell silent for a few seconds, then shouted: "Ah! Qiao Yuxian! You set me up! Why didn’t you say he was right there! Help! I feel like I’ve seen Naihe Bridge. Let’s just say this; next life, we’ll still be good sisters."
After speaking, she hung up the call.
Qiao Yuxian chuckled a bit, putting down the phone, and asked: "Do you know what’s going on with her and Mr. Chu?"
Gu Yanjing glanced at her and said: "I don’t know."
He indeed didn’t know the specifics.
He only knew Chu Zhengran had someone in his heart, but he never mentioned it to them.
He realized Chu Zhengran had someone in mind years ago when the three of them were overseas at a hotel.
After staying one night there, when checking out the next day, Lin Huai Shu noticed his bill included two boxes of certain personal items.
From that day on, Lin Huai Shu gossiped about it for a whole month.
Chu Zhengran didn’t reveal a single word.
Gu Yanjing noticed that for a long time after that day, Chu Zhengran was in a bad mood.
He just pretended to be fine, and Lin Huai Shu didn’t catch it.
But it involved their private matters, as well as a girl’s secret.
Gu Yanjing found it hard to say anything and therefore didn’t divulge much to Qiao Yuxian.
