Chapter 83: Chapter 83: She Really Is the Fastest at Changing Faces He’s Ever Seen (1)
Jin Jumo’s lips slightly twitched, and after a long pause, she said softly, "Thank you!"
Rong Mochen, however, coldly snorted, his elegant long fingers resting on the steering wheel. He paused for a moment before driving towards Linxi Hospital.
The main entrance of Linxi Hospital.
Jin Jumo lowered her head to unfasten her seatbelt. As she looked up to bid him farewell, she noticed that Rong Mochen had also unfastened his seatbelt. Her delicate eyebrows immediately furrowed as she bit her lip and looked at him.
Rong Mochen casually glanced at her, "Why are you sitting there staring at me without getting out of the car?"
Jin Jumo’s eyebrows furrowed even more tightly. She turned her head, pushed open the car door, and got out.
Standing outside the car, Jin Jumo looked at Rong Mochen, who had also gotten out, "Mr. Rong, do you have something else to do?"
Rong Mochen walked towards Jin Jumo, his dark eyes gazing steadily at her under the dim night lights, "It’s so late and you’re at the hospital, what happened?"
Jin Jumo’s expression changed slightly, but she said nothing.
No matter what happened, it has nothing to do with him!
"It’s alright if you don’t want to say, I’ll accompany you inside," Rong Mochen said, familiarly taking Jin Jumo’s hand and striding towards the hospital entrance.
Her fingertips were tightly gripped in his warm, firm hand. Jin Jumo slightly curled her fingers, then forcefully pulled them out and stopped walking. "Mr. Rong, thank you for bringing me here. But it’s late now, and you still have to drive home. I don’t want to keep you any longer. Be careful on the road, Mr. Rong. Goodbye."
As Jin Jumo spoke, she did not look at him and jogged past him.
Rong Mochen gloomily stared at Jin Jumo’s eager-to-leave back, his handsome face finally darkening completely.
This woman, she’s the fastest at changing her face that he’s ever seen!
Whenever she saw him before, wasn’t she always deliberately trying to please, even to the point of obsequiousness?
Now, the contract isn’t even a week expired, and she avoids him like the plague, her attitude taking a 180-degree turn. No more of that fawning, flattering demeanor!
Thinking like this, Rong Mochen’s hand at his side had already clenched tightly!
On the way to Jin Jiancheng’s ward, Jin Jumo repeatedly looked back to ensure Rong Mochen wasn’t following before she softly exhaled.
Walking into the ward, she unexpectedly saw Ying Jingyao standing tall and elegant by the window, looking down in thought.
"Brother Ying," Jin Jumo looked at Jin Jiancheng on the bed, walking forward in puzzlement and calling softly.
Ying Jingyao turned his head to look at Jin Jumo by his side, his lips slightly curling into a gentle smile, "You’re here."
Jin Jumo nodded, "Brother Ying, are you on duty tonight?"
Ying Jingyao did not directly answer her question but instead said, "I was worried about Mr. Jin having a sudden condition, so I thought it best to stay by his bedside."
Jin Jumo felt a tug at her heart, looking at Ying Jingyao’s gentle and handsome face, opening her mouth but not knowing what to say.
Ying Jingyao gazed gently at her, his voice becoming more tender and smooth, "There’s a resting room in my office. I’ll be watching over Mr. Jin, so you can sleep for a while. If anything happens, I’ll let you know right away."
"How can that be," Jin Jumo shook her head, "Brother Ying, you have surgeries every day. It’s important for you to maintain a good mental state. You should rest."
"I’m used to it," Ying Jingyao smiled warmly, "You’re a girl, it’s my duty to take care of you."
Jin Jumo’s eyelashes fluttered slightly, lowering her gaze, "There are so many girls in the world, can you take care of all of them, Brother Ying?"
Ying Jingyao gave a wry smile. There are many girls in the world, but he only wanted to take care of her.
The air suddenly grew quiet, and Jin Jumo felt awkward, looking up slightly at Ying Jingyao, "Brother Ying, you should rest. I’ll just rest by the bedside if I get tired."
Ying Jingyao looked at her for a moment, frowned, and sighed lightly, "It seems you’re set on not resting, so I’ll stay here with you."
"..." Jin Jumo’s throat felt blocked, and she bit her lip, remaining silent for a long time. Her dark eyes looked helplessly and conflictedly at Ying Jingyao, "Brother Ying, you really don’t have to do this. I, I’m not worth all this for you."
Ying Jingyao’s eyes narrowed slightly, but his smile only broadened, reaching out to touch her hair, "It’s not for you to decide if it’s worth it."
"Brother Ying..."
"Momo, if you insist on saying more, Brother Ying might get angry," Ying Jingyao said, deliberately putting on a stern face.
Jin Jumo’s brow furrowed tightly, her heart filled with things she wanted to say, but she couldn’t voice them.
The more she was around Ying Jingyao, the more she felt things were getting out of hand!
And the more she felt Ying Jingyao was outstanding, sometimes the way he treated her and took care of her grandfather diligently made her feel a lot of pressure.
Furthermore, being alone with him now made her feel breathless, her heart heavy and powerless.
She slowly realized she no longer knew how to appropriately interact with Ying Jingyao!
Ying Jingyao gazed into her confused and overwhelmed eyes, his lips pressing tightly, but eventually, he said nothing more.
He wanted her!
No matter her past, he wanted her!
This thought would never change!
So, even if she felt pressured by him now, it didn’t matter. At least she was beginning to view him differently in her heart.
Isn’t that a good sign?
At three in the morning.
Jin Jumo had fallen asleep by Jin Jiancheng’s bed. Ying Jingyao turned the heater in the ward up to the maximum and draped a fleece blanket over her.
Standing by her side, he watched her sleep, her cheeks rosy, her long lashes casting a shadow on her fair skin like a doll’s.
Certain repressed impulses broke through the taboo under the night, flooding uncontrollably from deep within his heart.
Perhaps because they were in Jin Jiancheng’s ward, Jin Jumo didn’t sleep very peacefully, always worried something might happen.
Thus, when he draped the blanket over her, she woke up but kept her eyes closed.
Firstly, she hadn’t expected things to escalate to this point; secondly, with the increasingly heavy breathing beside her, she didn’t dare open her eyes in fear of the awkwardness should their eyes meet.
Moreover, she didn’t know what she would do if Ying Jingyao really did something to her...
Fortunately, nothing happened in the end!
After Ying Jingyao closed the ward door, his tall figure slumped against the hallway wall, his moistened eyes closing in pain, even his dark lashes trembling.
He had almost lost control just now...
The late-night hospital was as silent as a vacuum, where the faintest sound seemed exceedingly noticeable.
Noticing another presence breathing apart from himself, Ying Jingyao’s brow moved slightly, and he opened his eyes cautiously.
Two wards away, someone leisurely leant against the railing.
That person wasn’t looking at him, holding a lit cigarette between two slender fingers, his sharply-defined face half in shadow, traces of smoke drifting lazily from his lips into the air without dissipating.
And beneath his crossed long legs, the ground was littered with cigarette butts.
Ying Jingyao tightened his brow, a flash of embarrassment in his eyes, before stepping up to the man, his expression already composed.
"Mr. Rong, you can’t smoke in the hospital," Ying Jingyao said, his voice slightly cool.
"Is that so?" Rong Mochen replied brazenly, flicking his cigarette ash as if truly unaware that the hospital was a no-smoking area!
Ying Jingyao couldn’t help but purse his lips tightly, looking at Rong Mochen’s cold profile from the side, "If Mr. Rong really can’t control the craving, would you mind going to the designated smoking room in the hospital?"
