And it explains why Ryan wouldn’t let us anywhere near her. That good for nothing bastard! How dare he? How could he be so cruel?" Jade asked, her blood boiling with anger. Harry placed a hand on thigh to calm her. "That isn’t all. Don’t waste your breath yet," Harry advised. "There is more?" Lucy asked, looking at Harry. "Babe, please do the talking. I don’t have the patience for Tom’s soft pedaling. And why is Jamal a driver there if he went there on Genevieve’s invitation?" Jade asked, and Harry raised a brow at Tom. Tom gave him a nod to go ahead since he would just rather focus on calming Lucy than doing the talking right now. Lucy and Jade stayed quiet as they listened to Harry tell them exactly what Jamal had told them. He started by telling them how Jamal had met Abigail at the airport without realizing who she was and both Lucy and Jade frowned. "I get that things didn’t end so well five years ago, but how could he not recognize her?" Jade asked the same question on Lucy’s mind. "I will get to that soon enough. Be patient," Harry said, and then continued the story. "You mean he told her she was his maid’s daughter and he made her serve Genevieve? She wrote Genevieve’s exams and was at her beck and call? Our Dawn?" Lucy asked, her heart breaking more the more she listened to Harry. Tom sighed deeply as he stood behind her seat and placed his hands on her shoulders, squeezing softly. Twenty years ago she had suggested they find a way to get someone into Ryan’s house to keep an eye on Dawn to make sure she was fine, but they had all thought she was overreacting because of her postpartum depression and they had not wanted to do any of that. Now he realized that despite the circumstances surrounding Dawn’s birth, they should have been more proactive in ensuring she was okay. They had all failed the little girl, and her suffering was all their fault. When Harry finally got to the point where he explained she had been wearing a mask, Jade rose up fuming and swearing, while Lucy raised a hand to stop Harry. "He asked her to have surgery? To permanently change her looks just so that no one would recognize her. What kind of a monster is he?" Jade asked in disbelief. "I won’t be surprised if he murdered Kimberly and her parents." "He did. Dawn witnessed the murder and it was the shock of it that made her mute for a long time. She said they were all shot dead but he seemed to keep that part out of the news," Harry explained. This time, like a dam, Lucy was unable to hold back her tears. She broke into a sob at the thought that Dawn had witnessed the murder of her mother and grandparents at such a tender age. She wept for all the little girl had gone through and for how lonely she must have felt. "I can’t believe that my sweet little Dawn went through all of this. We should go and get her," Lucy cried, and a muscle twitched in Tom’s jaw as he gathered her close to himself and patted her back. "Well, it won’t be that easy. Our sweet little Dawn is a mother now. She has a sweet little boy for our sweet little Jamal," Harry said, wanting to add a little humor to the situation. "What?" Jade asked, her jaw dropping, and just as suddenly as Lucy’s tears started, it stopped as she pulled back from Tom to look at Harry. "Jamal impregnated her? When? How?" Lucy asked dumbly. "Do you really need me to tell you how? I think Tom might be in a better position to tell you. Or maybe he might prefer to show you. Right, Tom?" Harry asked with a chuckle and they all laughed. Jade hit his arm playfully, "You play too much, Jonas. This is a serious situation," she said in a light voice. "Sounding serious won’t make it more or less serious than it already is, Mrs Jonas," he said, while Tom explained the situation to Lucy. "Jamal wasn’t careful enough and the one night stand resulted in a pregnancy. The problem now is that Ryan is holding the child hostage in a way that the child and the public thinks he is Ryan’s biological child. This means Dawn can’t just leave. We have to come up with a plan." "This is complicated and messed up," Jade groaned. "It doesn’t matter whether it is complicated or messed up. Ryan Harris won’t be the first bastard we have dealt with. We will handle him as we have handled all others before him," Tom said, more for Lucy’s benefit but she shook her head. "No. Worse. We will handle him worse not the same way. Until now I’ve never agreed to the use of violence, but for him, I want to be violent myself. I want his head," Lucy said, looking from Tom to Harry, and then back again. Tom held her gaze, surprised by the fierceness in it. He had expected tears. Lots of tears. And maybe anger. But right now she looked more like she was ready for a fight. Ryan had obviously messed with the lives of two people she loved very much. He almost felt sorry for Ryan, because only Lucy could have saved Ryan from him, but now Lucy was giving the go ahead to be ruthless. "Hello? A lawyer is in the room," Jade reminded Lucy, waving her hands in front of her. "Where did your law get us when we tried to get in touch with Dawn? With all due respect, Jade, kindly shove your law up your ass," Lucy said, and Tom chuckled, while Harry stuck his tongue in his cheek. "I understand that Ryan is influential over there in Westend and he outsmarted us before, but he isn’t above the law. We can file for..." "Lucy is right. We are not going that route, Jade. A ruthless man like that needs to be outsmarted in his own game. We are not fighting him with the law. Harry please talk to your wife," Tom said and Harry raised a brow. "She’s your sister. Talk to her," he retorted, then looked at Jade, "I agree with Tom and..." "Of course you do," Jade said, rolling her eyes, "if I wasn’t married to you and keeping you in check I can only imagine the number of crimes you’d have committed over the years," she said and Harry chuckled. "We don’t have to make a decision yet. Lucy and I will fly out to Westend to meet with her and hear her plan. And then we can call for a family meeting and all agree on what to do," Tom said, and Jade raised a brow. "Do you think Mom will come?" She asked, since Evelyn had refused to leave her house since her husband’s death and they only saw her whenever they visited her. "We will have to see."
