Chapter 313. Ants Vs Terragore.
The roar shook the caves, making the two armies behind Harmonixia and Verdantia tense up. Looking at the deep and dark passage was as if the maw of a terrible beast was opened right before them, ready to swallow everything.
For most of them, fighting other beings was relatively common. Like it or not, they were mostly accustomed to the bloodshed—those who had fought in the army since the very beginning more so than others. Still, this time around, the atmosphere was just too oppressive.
A dimly lit cave.
Myriads of echoing roars.
The humid scent of rocks.
The thousands of ants ready to sacrifice everything.
And the dark maw in front of them.
All those elements made the situation shake even the firmest heart. At this moment, a powerful but not blinding light spread above everyone. Looking at the origin, they saw the Flower Fairy’s charming figure pointing toward the entrance and firing a relatively slow-moving light sphere.
The light sunk into the hole, illuminating the caves as it advanced, and eventually, the sight of their enemies entered their gaze. The walls, the ceiling, and the floor were crawling with <Terragore> beasts, all rushing at them at terrifying speeds.
Ignatia shouted, her royal aura spreading and enveloping everyone. “READY YOUR SPELLS!”
Aether Mana and Anima Energy gathered with her words, and a few seconds later, the <Terragore> started spilling out from the single passage like a dark tide.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Terragore and Ants frantically collided with each other, creating loud explosive sounds.
“GRAAHH!”
One side was loud and brutal, attacking without a sense of order and trying to brute force their way through the layers of ants in front of them.
The other side was utterly silent. The only sounds were those of spells being flung across the battlefield and exploding in the enemy lines.
After Ignatia had deepened her connection with Liu Shu, her children weren’t just fire attributed. She had unlocked Liu Shu’s elemental affinities. Hence, the attacks weren’t just fireballs and other fire-type spells.
Rays of light, waves of dirt, tangling vines, and spatial fluctuations. These four attributes were constantly flung across, their potency a sight to behold for the intelligent races behind.
Harmonixia had been momentary dazed as well. However, seeing that her people were stunned, she reacted and pulled the strings of her instrument.
TWANG!
“BUFFS AND SUPPORT! NOW!”
Snapping out of their daze, the <Support Army> started their chants, and several waves of buffs spread in the frontlines.
The ants had been fighting with their bare bodies, the support minimal for the first few seconds. Therefore, they had been pressured by the constant barrage of attacks from their enemies. However, they didn’t take a single step back. Not only did they not falter, but even when some of their sisters died without a chance to retreat, they pushed the mass of <Terragore> back, constricting their ability to breach through their sturdy line of defense.
The <Terragore> were stunned. When the beasts arrived and saw so many enemies, danger was not what flashed in their minds. Instead, they thought that they were going to have a feast.
However...
A Terragore swiped at an ant, it’s sharp claws glinting even with the dim light due to their sharpness. The attack landed and pierced the hard exoskeleton of the ant. However, the massive ant didn’t take a step back. Before it could realize it, the <Terragore> felt a wave of pressure from the side.
BANG!
The mandible of the injured ant struck its sturdy body and made the <Terragore>’s mouth open as saliva flowed out from the heavy hit. It rolled on the ground not for long as another ant’s mandibles snapped down and crushed its bones. “GRAAH!”
It howled, not from anger but from pain and fear. These creatures were unlike others they had encountered before. When a being faced them in the past, they would either flee or fight in the defensive. They were prey for them to hunt.
However, as the <Terragore> fought more and more, they realized that the massive ants weren’t prey. They were predators like them.
“You realize now?”
The voice of a woman spread in the frontlines followed by a massive explosion.
BOOM!
As Ignatia expected, the beast shot from the cloud of dust toward Ignatia with blood dripping down its partially deformed and cracked open face. “GRAAAH!”
Seeing its state, Ignatia smiled coldly. ‘Tough, but far from threatening with my current stats.’
“Come, beast. Time to die.”
While Ignatia dealt with that beast, Liu Shu had summoned ten Arboreal Winged Serpents to help her. Their Levels were all 40.
At the front was the familiar bark-skinned serpent, Ophion. Its body seemed to have a gentle luster as the metallic skin showcased its resilience.
When they arrived, the serpents completely ignored the smaller Terragore and rammed into the horde of monsters, their sights locked on the several adult Terragores.
BOOM!
Their giant bodies were unstoppable, and all low-level Terragore in their way were helplessly crushed. The only ones that could somewhat fight back were the Level 30 and above ones, but even those would only last a few moves before the Arboreal Winged Serpents devoured them.
Seeing that the younger beasts couldn’t deal with them, the adult Terragore charged out of the shadows. The Arboreal Winged Serpents looked at these beasts with scorn. ‘You dare try and trespass Liu Shu’s territory? Death is cheap for you!’
Both sides collided.
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!
The ten adult Terragore, ranging from Level 40 to Level 45, didn’t even have a chance in a raw strength comparison. For starters, the Arboreal Winged Serpents were of a similar tier to them. Then, Liu Shu’s buffs and the Summoning Temple stacked to raise their stats by more than 50%... passively.
After buffs, a single Arboreal Winged Serpent was probably as strong as a Level 40 transformed Sylvan.
Ophion rammed the adult Terragore against the wall, creating another loud explosive sound that added to the cacophony of the battlefield.
[-124,900]!
Then, Ophion’s gaze flashed as he tilted his head. The Terragore’s sharp claws had grazed his skin, creating a long line. However, after its failed attack, Ophion mercilessly took advantage and used one of his massive wings to strike him down.
BANG!
[-90,650]!
The strike disoriented the adult Terragore. Ophion took the chance to open his mouth, which was full of serrated teeth, and bit down.
“GRAAAHH!”
[-381,900]!
Ophion’s teeth sunk deep and cracked bones. Feeling that the adult Terragore was in danger, the lower-level beasts around them rushed at Ophion and attacked it. The extremely sharp claws of several Levels 20 to 25 struck Ophion’s body.
CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!
[-1,500]!
[-2,705]!
[-1,840]!
[-3,240]!
Ophion looked down, his aloof and serpentine gaze mocking. ‘You want to invade our territory with this pitiful strength? Ridiculous.’
His tail swept at them.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Tens of beasts flew and struck the walls of the caves, followed by the other snakes doing the same. Ophion then flipped the Level 41 Terragore upward and bit skyward.
CHOMP!
[Congratulations on defeating <Level 41 Adult Terragore Striker>. You've gained 199 Experience Points.]
