Chapter 110: Chapter 110 : Date’s (1) The sun was dipping behind the golden towers of Zenith Academy as Ethan Williams and Alden von Crestvale stood outside the Phoenix Spire. The skies shimmered with hues of violet and gold. Lanterns floated midair, casting soft glows, and elegant music from inside the ballroom echoed faintly through the grand open archways. Ethan checked the time on his Watch—6:30 PM. The ball had started thirty minutes ago. Alden let out an exaggerated sigh, running a hand through his perfectly styled hair. "Dude, how long are these chicks gonna take? Looks like we’re gonna be the last to enter." Ethan chuckled, adjusting the cuff of his tailored midnight-blue tuxedo with silver embroideries. "You know how girls are, don’t complain and just shut up." Alden rolled his eyes but smirked. Ethan tilted his chin, nodding toward the pathway. "Hey, look. Some people are still coming out of the boys’ dorm." Alden turned, then suddenly grinned like a predator spotting prey. "Pfft, those are the poor souls who didn’t get dates. Look at their faces—pure rejection energy." As if on cue, the group of boys passing by glared at Alden, their eyes flashing annoyance. But none of them said a word. They silently turned and walked toward the warp gate that would take them to the grand hall. "Savage," Ethan muttered under his breath with a chuckle. --- Just then, both Ethan and Alden felt it—a wave of powerful, familiar presences approaching from behind. They turned around, and their eyes widened slightly. Walking down the shimmering steps of the Phoenix Pathway were Draven, the dwarven prince, and Rein Graystone, their recently acquainted friend with a body carved from war itself. Draven was surprisingly regal tonight. He wore a perfectly tailored obsidian-black suit with crimson linings that glowed faintly along the edges. Beside him stood Rein—tall and broad-shouldered—wearing a charcoal-gray tuxedo with a deep crimson tie. The suit hugged his massive physique, yet somehow retained an elegant touch, giving him the look of a charming beast trying to play gentleman. But what truly turned heads were the two beauties accompanying them. To Draven’s right was a girl with shoulder-length black hair that curled slightly at the tips and sharp obsidian eyes. Her skin was pale and flawless, her features delicate with a soft blush on her cheeks. She wore a silver off-shoulder gown that sparkled with midnight shimmer, hugging her figure gracefully, her hands clasped gently in front of her. Her name was Islode Allyson, a talented mage from Class 1-B. She looked both adorable and dignified beside Draven. To Rein’s left was none other than Lilia Scott. Her fiery orange hair was tied in an elegant updo, with loose strands curling down her shoulders. She wore a deep emerald green backless gown, flowing like silk in the breeze, accentuating her curves while leaving an air of noble mystery. Her dark eyes sparkled mischievously as she walked with confident steps beside the hulking Rein. As the group approached, Alden grinned and folded his arms. "Well, well, well... looks like you two scored yourselves some fine dates, I must say." Draven smirked. "Aye, we did. But what about you two? Got dumped and decided to go with each other instead?" Islode chuckled behind her hand, while Lilia burst into light laughter. Alden scoffed. "Very funny. Our dates are coming—just fashionably late." Ethan’s eyes lingered on Lilia for a second before he smirked. "Lilia. Fancy seeing you with Rein. Didn’t expect you to go with him, with how high-maintenance you always act." Lilia raised a brow and gave a smug smile. "Well, this guy asked me first. And the desperate little sparkle in his eye? I just couldn’t say no." Rein rubbed the back of his neck, giving a shy smile. "It took a lot of courage to ask a beauty like her out, you know." Lilia smiled sweetly and jabbed him lightly in the ribs. "Looks like that big and strong body of yours doesn’t quite match the soft squishy core, huh?" Everyone chuckled. Ethan scanned the crowd and suddenly asked, "Alright then, where’s your best friend, Ophelia? She’s already made me wait long enough." Before Lilia could answer, a sultry, teasing voice floated through the air. --- "Did you miss me, my Ethan?" The tone was playful, almost melodic. Everyone turned. There she was. Ophelia Sinclair. She walked with elegance and bold confidence, her long silky pink hair flowing down her back like a waterfall, styled with glittering amethyst pins. Her eyes glowed like twilight amethysts—mesmerizing and otherworldly. She wore a form-fitting violet gown, shimmering with tiny stardust-like crystals. The dress had a daring slit up the side and an open back that added a layer of bold allure. A silver choker gleamed at her neck, and violet heels clicked with each graceful step. She rushed the last few feet and wrapped her arms around Ethan, hugging him tightly. "My, my, don’t you look delicious tonight." Ethan blinked, caught off guard. ’Wha—uh...’ Ophelia pulled back, eyes gleaming with amusement. "Wow, my love, you look so dashing and handsome." Ethan smirked, regaining composure. "You... look okay, I guess." Ophelia pouted, stepping closer again. "Only okay? Tell me the truth—am I not looking good?" Seeing his personal space under attack, Ethan flinched. "No, no! You’re looking really, really beautiful! Just—just give me some breathing room!" Ophelia grinned victoriously and winked at Lilia, who returned the gesture with a smirk of her own. Ethan raised a brow. "Did you tell her to do this?" Lilia whistled innocently. "I don’t know what you’re talking about." A vein popped on Ethan’s temple. Meanwhile, Alden, Draven, and Rein were thoroughly enjoying the show, each trying to hold back laughter. --- Suddenly, a serene voice called out from behind. "Looks like you guys are enjoying yourselves quite well." All heads turned. Walking down the pathway were three breathtaking girls, each like a goddess descended under the setting sun. Charlotte Evans Avaloria had snow-white hair, styled in intricate waves that framed her face. She wore a royal blue gown with crystalline patterns that sparkled like ice under moonlight. Her eyes, sharp and noble, gave her an ethereal grace that demanded respect. Seraphina Starlight, with her long flowing blue hair, wore a silver and indigo dress that clung to her like water. It glittered like stardust, and her deep grey eyes shone like galaxies. Every step she took was elegance personified. Ava Green, with chestnut brown hair, wore a golden gown with leaf-like embroidery, giving her an earthy, radiant beauty. Her hazel eyes were soft and inviting, and her warm smile could melt the coldest heart. All three of them stood like a divine trio, turning heads even from afar. Alden’s jaw dropped slightly.
